About Jo Bednall

Ridgehead Farm originally formed part of the Harper-Crewe Estate but then fell derelict, the main buildings were rebuilt some 25 years ago. In 2008 an historic barn on the farm was painstakingly converted by us into two luxury holiday cottages.

I have lived at the farm for 16 years with my husband Clive and our 13 year old daughter Lucy and a variety of pets.

I have had a lifelong love of horses which has been passed onto Lucy, we both regularly compete at local and regional competitions, consequently the equine facilities at the farm have been vastly improved.

We live in the main farmhouse approx 100m from the cottages and are there to offer you a warm welcome on arrival and available to offer local advice and answer any queries during your stay.

Curlew, Ridgehead Farm

  • 4 of 5

A well-converted barn in a location with fine views, and within easy reach of places of interest and activity.

Cosy, well-equipped cottage with stunning views and welcoming hosts.

  • 5 of 5

Jo and Clive were extremely helpful and welcoming, even though we were 2 hours later than planned. The cottage had everything we needed, including essentials like washing up liquid and cloths, which are annoying to have to buy/bring. The location was remote, bit within easy reach of amenities in Buxton and Leek. It's a shame the historic nature of the building doesn't allow for windows that let you see the wonderful views from inside, but the terrace more than makes up for that (weather permitting). Internet/phone addicts should be aware that, due to the rural location and lack of landline, internet is limited and mobile phone signal patchy. It was certainly sufficient for our needs - checking emails and details of local attractions etc - but it wouldn't be enough for downloads or streaming. Overall we had a wonderful peaceful stay and will recommend the cottage to frienda and family.

Breathtakingly relaxing

  • 5 of 5

This was a truly magical cottage. We were very impressed with the facilities and warm welcome from Jo and her lovely pets. I haven't relaxed so much in a very long time and we didn't want to go home! Perfectly located by being remote yet close to the amenities you need via a short car drive. The underfloor heating was so cosy and the extras such as welcome pack and washing tablets/kitchen towel/toilet roll etc were unexpected but much appreciated. We thoroughly recommend this cottage and we will definitely be back! Thank you Jo for sharing your beautiful farm xx

Lovely cottage, well equipped, comfy beds and nice bathrooms

  • 4 of 5

Delightful cottages - wonderful views but need to be outside to enjoy them as cottage windows are small. Great location for all parts.

Well equipped cottage with fabulous view

  • 4 of 5

We were two couples and two dogs and found this cottage perfect for our needs for a weekend. Very cosy and beautifully warm. We had the en suite room with a powerful shower and underfloor heating. The cottage was well equipped and the "welcome pack" was much appreciated together with things like washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets which is not always the case with self-catering accommodation in our experience. Picnic table at the front of the property to appreciate the wonderful view if the weather is kind enough.
