Curlew Cottage sleeps 4 ( 2 bedrooms )

Curlew Cottage has an entrance hall leading to a drying room/toilet with a washer/dryer. There is a large lounge/diner with freeview tv/dvd, and a leather sofa and chair with views over the moors. Off this is a modern well equipped kitchen with granite work tops, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, electric oven, microwave and ceramic hob. Upstairs there is a fabulous master bedroom with a king sized four poster bed with luxurious memory foam topper, ensuite bathroom with walk in shower and a second bedroom with twin beds and a separate family bathroom with bath and shower. The master has an alcove which is ideal if you have a baby or toddler in a cot which is available on request. The cottage has a child safety gate at the top of the stairs and a door at the bottom.

The cottage has underfloor heating downstairs and in all the bathrooms and designer radiators in all the bedrooms.

Ridgehead Farm Cottages were created in 2008 by converting a 200 year old historic barn into 2 luxury cottages, they are both rated at the top end of 4 star by the tourist board. Set at 1500ft on a 80 acre equine farm within a site of Special Scientific Interest, they offer stunning views and year round peace and tranquillity yet are conveniently located for local amenities and exploring the Peak District. Each cottage has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and sleeps 4 so are perfect for families or couples, the 2 cottages can be booked together (10% discount) to sleep 8. With underfloor heating downstairs and in all bathrooms they provide a warm, cosy retreat at the end of the day.

About Jo Bednall

Ridgehead Farm originally formed part of the Harper-Crewe Estate but then fell derelict, the main buildings were rebuilt some 25 years ago. In 2008 an historic barn on the farm was painstakingly converted by us into two luxury holiday cottages.

I have lived at the farm for 16 years with my husband Clive and our 13 year old daughter Lucy and a variety of pets.

I have had a lifelong love of horses which has been passed onto Lucy, we both regularly compete at local and regional competitions, consequently the equine facilities at the farm have been vastly improved.

We live in the main farmhouse approx 100m from the cottages and are there to offer you a warm welcome on arrival and available to offer local advice and answer any queries during your stay.

20% deposit required with balance 6 weeks before holiday date.

Changeover Day:
Flexible changeover days, we try at accommodate any length of stay or arrival day if we possibly can.
Arrival from 3pm onwards, departures by 10am

Notes on prices:
There is a 10% discount on pricing when both cottages are booked together.
Short breaks available.
3 nights Fri/Mon or 4 nights Mon/Fri available at 75% of weekly rate.
2 nights Fri/Sun available at 50% of weekly rate.
We do not charge extra for dogs, please see website for livery rates.

Notes:
Notes on accommodation: On arrival there will be a welcome basket with tea, coffee, milk, biscuits and a bottle of wine. All towels, bed linen, washing up liquid, washing powder, conditioner and dishwasher tablets are provided. Cot and high chair are available on request. Ample private parking available adjacent to the cottages, undercover for bikes and motor bikes. Outside: There is a large flagged patio shared between both cottages with garden furniture and bbq, it offers stunning views into the valley. There are 80 acres of private moorland and ponds, ideal for quiet evening walks or dog walks. Check out time is 10am but if no-one is due to arrive later the same day we are happy for you to leave later, please ask.

This is an amazing cottage in a wonderfully secluded area yet with great access to the area

We spent a weekend break here - the cottage is delightful, perfectly equipped with everything you need to self cater as well as being warm and welcoming. Jo was incredibly helpful and the personal touches made the experience that much more enjoyable.

If you are Wi-fi fanatics then not ideal but a great opportunity to disconnect from the world in a stunning location and beautiful area.

Highly recommended and would definitely come again.

Warm, cosy with great views.

A lovely week in this well appointed, comfortable cottage with friendly owners. Very peaceful yet within easy reach of many places of interest including Buxton, Bakewell, Chatsworth and Tittesworth Water to name but a few. Great for walkers, bird watchers and those like ourselves who just enjoy viewing the sights in a more leisurely fashion. This corner of England is a hidden gem with stunning scenery and the cottage provided a restful home from home. We look forward to returning.

Stunning Views - Well Worth a Visit

Lovely views from the cottage in a quiet location but within easy reach of Buxton, Leek, Stoke and Alton Towers. Fantastic walking in the area and many pubs to sample local ales and restaurant quality food, with dogs welcome.

The cottage was cosy, clean and well-equipped and the owners very friendly and welcoming. We just needed to be a little careful to avoid the chickens in the driveway.

Definitely worth another visit.

We are 50 minutes drive from the M6

The nearest train stations are Stoke or Macclesfield which are both 30 minutes drive away.

The nearest pub which does meals is 3/4ml away. The village of Longnor with village shop is 3mls away. Buxton and Leek are both 6mls away with supermarkets, restaurants, etc. Bakewell, Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Alton Towers are all within 15mls.

Further Details:

The nearest pub is the Winking Man which is 3/4 mile away. There is an excellent fish and chip shop in the local village of Longnor which is 3mls along with other pubs.
