La Grande Maslerie is a nineteenth century 'maison de maitre' situated in the heart of Normandy on the outskirts of the village of Roullours, close to the town of Vire. The house stands in its own gardens and is in an area of farmland, with other houses nearby. There is a coach house in the grounds, which houses a games room offering table tennis, a pool table, darts and table football. The garden behind the house is south facing with barbecue facilities, seating and solar heated swimming pool (10.5m x 5.5m). The house is decorated with both contemporary and antique furnishings, and offers comfortable accommodation for 11 people.

Lovely house, just as described.
We greatly enjoyed our stay at this lovely property. The facilities were excellent, everything worked, and the bedrooms comfortable and spacious. We were delighted to find the house cleaned to a professional standard, unlike previous experiences at other Gites in France!
The position is good, offering easy access to places of interest, and for two of our party, close to two good golf courses. The games room was a great asset on the two days of overcast weather.
A delightful, clean, well equipped property
There were 5 of us staying for the second time (the first was in 2003) so there was plenty of space therefore. This is a house with history, comfortably furnished and containing some interesting artwork. Vire is a very pleasant and friendly little town. The property is ideally situated in Normandy with plenty of places of interest to visit within easy reach by car, in all directions. We are returning again in 2017.
Holiday in La Grande Maslerie
This is a very spacious and well maintained house. It easily accommodated our party of 10. The beds were very comfortable and all the facilities including the washing machine and tumble drier were very easy to use. Unfortunately the weather was not great during our visit but the pool is good and very accessible. The local contact was very helpful and speaks good English. We would definitely recommend this property
My family and I had a wonderful week in this property which is exactly as it looks in the picture: a truly grand French house from a bygone era. The accommodation was clean and comfortable with plenty of room for the 10 of us to spread ourselves out. The children loved being outside in the garden and the older ones particularly liked the games room.
The owner could not have been more helpful offering support and guidance throughout. She kindly ensured that the swimming pool was up and running for our stay - and some of our party were brave enough to go in despite it being pronounced ''freezing'.
The area is beautiful and the house well positioned for sight seeing with some lovely towns not too far away. The supermarket is less than ten minutes down the road and the nearest town of Vire is delightful.
Everyone relaxed and enjoyed themselves and I just wish I could afford to take us all again!
Special interest holidays: There are four good golf courses in the vicinity; the nearest is on the outskirts of Vire about 10 mins away and one at Clecy about 20 mins from house. There is a competition course at Omaha and a links course at Granville, both are just over an hour's drive. There is a large leisure pool in Vire itself. Also in the vicinity there is go-karting, quad biking and horse riding. Lake Dathee, which is very close by, offers both coarse and trout fishing, golf, and a wide range of water sports - sailing, windsurfing and diving. St Sever forest has many way-marked trails, an outdoor swimming pool and horse riding. There is also, for the very brave amongst us, bungee jumping off the Souleuvre Viaduct. Travel: Car essential. Distances: From the ports of Cherbourg, Caen and Le Havre the journey time is only between one and two hours depending on which port. The closest is Caen, which is an hours drive approximately. From Calais it takes approx 3-4 hours. Further Details: This part of Normandy is called The Bocage and is well situated for visits to many places of interest. The seaside resort of Granville with its excellent fish restaurants, the mediaeval towns of Domfront, Vassy and Dinan are all within easy reach. Also, as well as the Normandy landing beaches, there are chateaux and gardens to visit. Activities nearby include bird watching, boules, drawing and painting, fishing, go karting, golf, gourmet dining, horse riding, photography, sailing, shopping, sightseeing, swimming, table tennis, tennis, walking.
