About Mr and Mrs Kristian

Carol & Martin Kristian have a long association with this spectacular part of Wales, and love it. Carol has spent holidays in Tywyn since the age of 3 and her parents retired here in the 80's, creating a home from home for all the family. Martin, who is Australian, of Latvian parents, was soon introduced to the area by Carol and immediately fell in love with it. We live in Herfordshire but visit our cottages at least once a month. Martin is recently retired from his business and Carol still runs a childrens theatre school. We love nature and are very lucky to have a like minded wonderful team of local people on hand to ensure your stay is pleasant. We enjoy meeting our guests whenever possible and sharing our corner of heaven with you.

Mr and Mrs Kristian purchased this cottage in 2006

Why Mr and Mrs Kristian chose Wales

This area is breath taking and also very diverse. There are beaches, forests, lakes, waterfalls, mountains all offering different experiences to suit all weather and all occasions.

What makes this cottage unique

Although Geufron is very close to Tywyn and all the amenities, in fact just a couple of minutes by car, it is away from traffic and people and surrounded by fields with magnificent views.

The 5 cottages do not impact on each other at all but are not remote. They are walking distance from the village shop and pub.

Good but needed more attention to detail

  • 3 of 5

The cottage was good but needed more attention to detail which would have greatly enhanced the holiday, as follows

Could not use the pool / could only connect WY-FI in laundrey room this we believe should be availble in the cottage / various light bulbs missing / toilet seat very loose ( fixed ourselves ) shower in need of serious de-mould / no walking maps left in cottage. but we did enjoy the stay

Owner's Response: So glad you enjoyed your stay. The walking maps and all pamphlets on local attractions are in the information cabin clearly signposted so sorry you did not notice that. Pool is now tickety boo after a small technical problem which did not prevent usage so sorry you felt you could not take advantage of it. I believe your housekeeping concern was immediately addressed by our local representative when you called her. Thank you for visiting us .

A very warm welcome...5 Star..

  • 5 of 5

Ater a long motorway journey, feeling tired and stressed...We were greeted by the manger (jenny) a pleasant welsh lass, she made us and our two dogs feel very welcome,we don't know if it was because Wales were doing so well in the Rugby or that's just the way the Welsh are, sure its the latter...Jenny showed us around, explained everything we needed to know..There was welsh cakes, tea, coffee sugar and a pint of milk layed on for us.The cottage was exceptionally clean and the views are amazing....the local shops are not to close and not to far about a mile away..we would rather not tell our friends about the cottage as we want it to be our special place but would highly recommend to anyone who likes peace and a bit romantic...thank you to all who made our autumn break...looking forward to our next stay with you...

Beautiful Bethwyn Bach.

  • 5 of 5

We, like most people live busy lives and we were looking for a holiday where we could relax and switch off from most things! I saw the website for Geufron cottages I instantly felt it look just the place for my husband and I. I emailed the owners and received a prompt reply and help in booking the cottage and week that would best suit us. We booked and looked forward to our holiday.

We arrived on a beautiful afternoon and after the drive up the winding drive to the cottages we were met by the manager Jennie who showed us our cottage and informed us of everything we needed to know. We booked Bethwyn Bach, a one bedroom cottage with the living area upstairs and the bedroom and shower room on a lower level with a patio outside with chairs and table and BBQ.

The cottage was spotlessly clean, nicely furnished with everything we needed, even a slimline dishwasher!! Even a starter pack was included with fresh milk in the fridge, teabags, coffee, sugar and homemade welsh cakes. Fantastic after a long drive!

There was a building on site that had maps and lots of info on places to visit. Great help.

The views were amazing, so beautiful and it was so quiet. The cottages were just lovely. Different sizes for families and couples with none of the cottages overlooked by another. The outside swimming pool was heated and clean and we used it several times.

We visited so may beautiful places and every evening would returned to our “home on the hill!”

Tywyn is a pretty town with unique shops and resturants/ cafes and beautiful beaches and we discovered places to walk and enjoy the area.

We were so sad to leave but will definitely be going back.

Thank you so much..

75th Birthday at The Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Hi Carol,

When we arrived on the Saturday afternoon you new manager Jenny was there this time to greet us and had remembered to leave some milk for us. John was delighted to find not only ice for his G & T but a card as well as a bottle of Carva too. Thank you.

We went on the Tal-y-Llyn train on John's birthday; my step son Steve arranged a piece of cake with a candle on it which Jenny came & gave to John whilst singing Happy him. We mentioned that a light bulb was not working in the bathroom, not a problem to us but needed to be replace at some time. The same evening a maintance man arrived to replace it; that was good service! In our cottage we had a very tiny amount of washing up liquid but no dish washer tablets at all. where as Steve in Bwthyn Bach did have a few washer tablets but no washing up liquid at all.

I think all cottages should be given the same items. There were toenail clippings on the lounge floor left from the previous guests; perhaps the cleaner didn't have enought time or notice them otherwise it was nice & clean as usual.

The signs "Cottage Only" a really good idea as well as the information Summer House with books, jig saws & games to borrow. The weather for us was so good & we were very busy this time so didn't use them but might well do on our next visit in November this year. Tell Marty we liked the decoration round the swimming pool which he was doing just as we were leaving last time.

We have recommended this to our friends but do so much enjoy being able to come back quite often so please don't sell it otherwise where would we go then?

Catherine (Pendrill-Cosier)

Owner's Response: So glad that Jennie was on the case and that the service was tip top. Thank you for reporting the blown light bulb these things are sometimes missed unless we are made aware of them but our lovely maintenance man is quick to respond. We look forward to next time. Carol & Marty

Owner's Response: So glad that you enjoyed your stay and that you were comfortable. We try to make our cottages as comfy as possible with pocket sprung mattresses and easy chairs. Aberdovey is lovely with the bell under the jetty which rings at high tide. The Prince of Wales opened it a few years ago when a new one was forged. We look forward to seeing you next time.
