Water Meadows Cottage
Water Meadows, Old Coach House
About Mark Butcher
Hi, I'm Mark, my wife Karen and I have lived in Maiden Newton since 2004 running a small architectural practice from home. We enjoy walking with our dog in this beautiful part of Dorset, motorbiking around the quite country lanes and running our two holiday cottages.
Mark Butcher purchased this Cottage in 2004
Why Mark Butcher chose Maiden Newton
Maiden Newton is in the middle of West Dorset's Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), surrounded by some of England’s most picturesque countryside. Despite being in such a beautiful location, Maiden Newton is a genuine working rural village and is not overrun with tourist in the summer months like many of our more better know neighbours. We have a friendly local pub, French restaurant, fish and chip shop, railway station and everything else you might need in the village. There are dozens of fantastic country walks right on our doorstep and it's just a short drive to the stunning Jurassic Coast with sandy dog friendly beaches and breathtaking clifftop walks.
What makes this Cottage unique
We are on the edge of the village enjoying space and privacy whilst only 5 minutes walk from the local shop, pub and railway station.

Comfortable village base for exploring west Dorset
A comfortable cottage comprising two good size en-suite bedrooms with comfy beds and good storage. Both rooms have french windows leading to an outside space. The Sitting room/ diner has a large TV and a four seater table . The internal kitchen is small but well equipped.
We enjoyed using the hot tub - good for easing the muscles after a day’s walking and exploring .
The weather was quite chilly during our stay and we had a minor problem with the radiator in the sitting room . Lesley the manager responded quickly to my text and the problem was soon resolved .
The village has a pub and a restaurant and a village shop open every day until 9pm.
This property is well situated for exploring the Abbotsbury/Dorchester/ Lyme Regis area and we would definitely stay here again if we return to this area.
Thank you for your kind comments, we're glad you enjoyed the cottage and the hot tub. Apologies for the radiator problem and glad Leslie resolved it quickly, she is a real star! We look forward to welcoming you back again soon.

Lovely Cottage in a beautiful location
We (4 friends) booked a four night stay, to have a relaxing weekend, and that’s exactly what we had. Meadow Cottage is absolutely fabulous, and in a really lovely location. The property itself is clean, comfortable and well equipped, and also had a hot tub, which was thoroughly awesome. Thank you! Unfortunately, one of our friends couldn’t make it, so we are looking forward to making another booking in the future, so she can also enjoy a stay there.
