Beautifully restored character property in Watlington
Charming and unique 3 bedroom Grade II listed cottage packed with character features; beams in every room, original fireplaces and contemporary kitchen and bathrooms.
From the front hall, access the modern, well equipped kitchen and sun room (dining/sitting area) which has two sets of bi-fold doors out onto the sunny garden, partly laid to grass and part sunny patio area. Enjoy inside/outside barbeques from this sunny sitting area. The study has a good desk area with plenty of games and puzzles for those lazy afternoons! There is coat hanging and a shoe rack and the cloakroom leading off the study houses the washing machine and tumble dryer. The sitting room has a comfortable chaise sofa and "snuggle" chair beside the log burner for cozy evenings. From here you can see the original 16th century wattle and daub walls and a wealth of beams. Leading to the stairs to an open landing with two good sized double rooms, one of which can be made up as a twin or kingsize bed. The family bathroom is also on this floor. The winding original stairs (may be problematic for the very young or infirm) lead to the master bedroom which boasts the most magnificent set of beams, pretty much unchanged since the day the house was built! This large double room leads through a dressing area with wardrobe and plenty of drawer space to the ensuite shower room.
There are plenty of local walks and cycle rides through the Chilterns, we are close to the shops in Watlington including a Co-op with post office, delicatessen, butcher, kitchen/coffee shop, hardware, handmade chocolates and more. The town has 3 pubs in walking distance and an Indian restaurant with an array of pubs and restaurants a short drive away.
Convenient for travel to Oxford, London and beyond.
Families, friends, cyclists and walkers haven.
Business executives also most welcome. The study is an ideal office space with wireless printer/copier available.

About Sarah Folley
I specialise in high quality event and retreat management and apply my knowledge to ensuring my property meets all the traveller's needs. I'm 50 something with two grown up boys and enjoy travelling, cooking and entertaining.
Sarah Folley purchased this Cottage in 2012
Why Sarah Folley chose South Oxfordshire District
Dropmore Cottage epitomises the best of England's historic buildings. I bought it in 2012 as a wreck and despite being virtually derelict, from the moment I stepped into this property I knew it had massive potential and a really good feel about it. I had a huge challenge ahead of me but the renovation gives me great pride that I have resurrected a fine example of a timber A framed house. A rare find indeed!

Great location. Very clean, lovely presented and comfortable cottage
Stayed for just under a week at Dropmore cottage. Couldn't have asked for more. Sarah the owner was very accommodating to all our requests. The house is full of character with modern amenities. The kitchen is very well equipped, with lots in the larder cupboards ( a little too much is my only criticism, as we didn't have much room to put our food!) We all agreed the beds were very comfortable. Watlington is a quaint little market town/village. With a few great shops and restaurants of which we tried and tested. Especially Tutu's the chocolate shop!! Would definitely return and wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
Thanks for your review and I'm delighted that you enjoyed your stay.
Thanks also for leaving the cottage so clean and tidy.
Located between Oxford and all its wonderful historic attractions and world famous Royal Regatta centre Henley on Thames. Watlington is a quintessentially English town, reputedly the smallest in Britain. Delightful country walks and fast access to the motorway system.
