Cottage in Buerton, Nr. Nantwich, Cheshire, England - Peaceful Rural Location With Open Views Across The Cheshire Countryside

Badgers is a recently completed renovation of the shire horse stables which served Buerton Hall Farm, where the owners live and run a smallholding. The delightful conversion offers traditional, homely accommodation to an excellent standard throughout. Much original character is retained, with stable doors, exposed beams and round barn windows with shutters, along with a cosy sitting room, a well equipped fitted kitchen with dining area, two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Outside there is a sunny, secluded decking area with a fantastic hot tub in which to relax whilst enjoying the open views towards an old windmill. A gate leads off the decking directly onto the fields where horses and sheep graze. There are numerous footpaths to explore and and only two miles away is the Shropshire Union Canal which is a walker's paradise. Horses are welcome here too, ideal for enjoying the countryside from the saddle. An excellent holiday home which provides a peaceful getaway, whatever the time of year.

About Adam and Ann Dutton

We are a professional couple (a doctor and an oral hygienist), fortunate enough to live in a lovely part of Cheshire on a smallholding of 35acres which we look after in our spare time. We have a small horse livery business and also run cattle and sheep on the land. Ann is keen on riding, keeping fit and sailing, Adam on shooting and sailing. We have both been very involved in the extensive renovation of our last three houses and of this holiday cottage. Favourite travel destinations? -the Greek Islands and the USA mean most to us. We have two grown-up children - one a vet, the other an actor - and three young grandchildren. We have tried to make our holiday cottage somewhere we would be happy to stay ourselves - fresh, warm and comfortable - and we think we have succeeded.

Notes on accommodation: The property enjoys full oil-fired central heating which remains on constantly and may be adjusted easily by use of the thermostat. There is an additional electric heater in the sitting room and an immersion heater as back up for hot water. Children are welcome but will need close supervision in respect of the hot tub and the fact that this is a working farm. Sorry - we cannot accept any pets because of the risk to livestock. Absolutely no smoking is permitted in or around this property - and we prefer not to have smokers staying in the cottage. Outside: To the rear of the property is a sunny, secluded decking are where there is a private 4-5 person hot tub/spa. Outdoor furniture and a barbecue are provided. This area is safely fenced off and a gate allows access to the surrounding fields. A path leads down the side of the property to the front where there is ample car parking space in a fenced and gated area. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bath towels, hand towels, flannels and bed linen included and changed weekly. Also included are towels for use after spa, and kitchen towels.

Lovely cottage

The cottage was perfect for a quiet and restful week. We made good use of the fantastic hot tub: especially sitting out in the early evening watching the sun go down with beautiful, uninterrupted views. The cottage itself was lovely; clean and well equipped. The bed was huge and really comfortable. Owners were friendly and helpful. Lots of nice walks close by and some nice pubs near by. Lovely.

Had a lovely holiday in this fantastic cottage,location is ideal if you enjoy walking,many walks along the canal/countryside all within a short drive away.Auldem nearest village has everthing you might need plus more.Hot tub is a bonus helps to ease the aches after a good walk.We will be coming back to the cottage in the future to explore some more.

Lovely location and perfect getaway

Absolutely stunning location, very quiet and peaceful. It's just the little getaway we needed and the hot tub makes it even better after a day out or a quick dip in the morning to wake you up.

The owners are very welcoming and looked after us, thanks so much for making it so simple to book and keeping us updated before the holiday.

The property is situated about 20 minutes from junction 15 of the M6 motorway between the villages of Woore and Audlem. Crewe mainline station is 20 minutes away by cab.


Audlem is about 2 .5 miles away, Nantwich 6 miles, The Potteries 10miles, Whitchurch 8 miles, Chester 28 miles and Manchester 40 miles

Further Details:

The village of Audlem is set amongst wonderful countryside on the Cheshire/Shropshire border with the imposing St James church in the village centre. Running alongside the village is the Shropshire Union canal with its 15 locks, where walks along the tow-path, now called the Weaver Way, can be enjoyed. Audlem has an active community centre with various events, badminton and snooker on offer. There are three pubs, a tourist office and a few shops including an excellent butcher and a small Co-op (with a cash machine). There is an Audlem website with further information. Nearby is a "Secret" Nuclear Bunker, a relic of the Cold War and well worth a visit. The huge Bridgemere Garden Centre is only 3 miles away.

Our other village, Woore, also 2.5 miles away, has a small village shop, a church and three pubs.

The medieval town of Nantwich is 6 miles away and offers excellent independent shops, weekly street markets and an open-air lido. The old town is well worth a visit on market day. There are also a Morrisons, a Sainsburys and an Aldi.

Alton Towers is about 30 miles away and the factory shops of The Potteries 10 miles away (Wedgwood, Royal Doulton, Crown Derby, Emma Bridgewater and others).

More extensive shopping is available in Chester, where there is also the large Cheshire Oaks Outlet 'Village'.

Theatres and cinemas can be found in Stoke-on Trent, Chester and Manchester.

Other places of interest within easy reach are Cannock Chase Trecking Centre, Beeston Castle, Cholmondeley Castle Gardens, Little Moreton Hall and The Dorothy Clive Garden. And for children Hoo Farm, Monkey Forest, Wonderland and Fordhall Organic Farm.

Booking Notes:
Availability may be checked by e-mail or phone. We prefer to confirm a booking by phone followed up by an e-mail and a booking deposit of £100,which becomes a damage deposit on arrival and is returnable within one week after your departure, assuming no charges need to be made against it. Payment of half the rental amount is due 60 days before, and of the remainder 14 days before, your arrival.

Changeover Day:
We find that changeover on a Friday suits most people, but we are very flexible. The cottage is available from 3pm on arrival and usually will need to be vacated by 11am on departure but, again we can be flexible depending on bookings.

Notes on prices:
The price includes all heating and electricity, including that for the hot tub, and all towels and linen. If you wish to bring a horse you are very welcome - free parking is available for your trailer/lorry; and stabling, turn-out and use of manege are priced at £35 per week or part thereof. Shavings, hay and feed are available at extra cost.

Booking/damage deposit of £100 payable on booking. 50% of rental payable at least 60 days before arrival. 50% of rental payable at least 2 weeks before arrival.
