This 2-story home is perfectly situated to take in the beauty and recreational opportunities of Kauai's north shore. Living area and half bath are upstairs; bedrooms and 2 full baths downstairs. Master bedroom has connecting bathroom. Honeymooners love the place. Whether you're into hiking and water sports, or just want to sink your toes into the beautiful sand of Kauai, it has all you need for an unforgettable vacation. This 2-story home has cathedral ceilings, 30 windows, 2 lanais, and a front porch. With an ocean view from the front door and mountain views from the rear, guests often rave about the villa's postcard setting.
Ease into each day with the songs of tropical birds while enjoying breakfast on a lanai with fabulous mountain views. Look out the front door for a spectacular view of the ocean. Walk 50 feet to the bluff overlook that is well-known for its sunset views--also a perfect vantage point for watching surfers, humpback whales (January-April), sea turtles and dolphins. The luxurious St. Regis Princeville Hotel, a 5-minute walk from the villa, features entertainment, shopping, and fine dining. Walk to 3 beaches or drive to the many gorgeous beaches on the island. Our permanent home is Washington DC but we love escaping to Kauai, especially in the winter. After visiting Kauai several times in the 1980's and falling in love with the north shore, we purchased our house in 1990, 2 years before hurricane Iniki destroyed many homes on Kauai, ours included. By 1995 it was rebuilt as a totally different (and oh so much better) house. It's worth the long trip from DC! We love to snorkel, bike, kayak, stand-up-paddle, walk, and just enjoy a good book while sitting under a palm tree at the beach. You will too!
Kathy Chamberlain purchased this house in 1990
The north shore of Kauai is the most beautiful place in the world. We love Princeville because it is on a bluff overlooking the ocean-- flooding will never be a problem! The Hanalei Bay Villas are perfectly situated for the best ocean, bay and mountain views on the north shore. We bought Hanalei Bay Villa 25 for its views and easy access to beaches.
Ours is a stand-alone house, so renters benefit from the privacy of having a house to themselves. It is close (but not TOO close) to the luxurious St Regis Princeville Hotel, just a 5-minute walk. Our house is not on poles like most Hanalei Bay Villas, which means we can walk out the lower lanai into the back yard for easy access to the herb garden and tropical fruit trees. There is whale-watching from the front door (Jan-April), frequent rainbows over the ocean, easy sunset watching from the bluff in front of the house. Guests often comment on how comfortable, well-equipped and nicely decorated our house is.
A perfect villa between mountain and sea with all of the creature comforts of great bedding to well equipped kitchen....The light in the villa was superb with all of the windows and lots of places outside on the lanai or in the swing downstairs to enjoy. The herb garden was a plus! The views around the villa were majestic from the mountains to the beaches to the sunsets. A great grocery store was only 2 miles away. The villa was equipped with everything from beach chairs to towels to snorkel equipment and even binoculars. This villa is a paradise unto itself! It is highly recommended by us so much so we hated to leave.
We so enjoyed our stay in this lovely home!
Kathy has set the bar so above everyone else I don't think we'll stay anywhere else in Kauai EVER! Jimmy says we will be planning our vacations around this unit's availability! Thank you so very very much for all of your thoughtful planning to make this feel like a home away from home! Aloha!

We just came back from a stay at this villa. It is exactly as pictured and written - no surprises - accurately represented! Kathy has done an excellent job in making sure everything is perfect and great communication and directions. Our stay was 4 adults (2 couples) and found the villa to be exactly what we needed, our own "home" in Princeville. I especially liked that it was a free-standing house and that it was surrounded by nature, lush greenery and jungle views. From the front door you can see the ocean across the street, and walk across the street to the path down the beautiful and secluded "hideaway beach" (for brave souls with good muscles as it is quite a hike down and up!). Quiet location, easy access to everything in Princeville and Hanalei. There is not a lot of restaurants in Princeville, so the ability to cook is nice - and the kitchen has everything you would need. We had nice ocean breezes during our stay so sleeping was very comfortable with the louvers open - and good beds. I highly recommend staying here.
As you drive up you see that the house as it sits apart from the others and looks out on the ocean, yet hides behind some tropical plants screening the sandy-foot washing station at the bottom of the steps, is quintessential Kauai charm.
Open the door and a truly cheery and sparkling clean home awaits. The décor truly delights the eye. There’s a sweet monkey pod wood bench to use for a quick drop of those shoulder bag items. The kitchen is handy for groceries as well as the dining room table. Shoes get kicked off outside on the little porch at the front door or can also be housed under the bench inside.
Back to the kitchen – there’s certainly nothing lacking for any food preparation. The stove heats up quickly and does the job of cooking with plenty of btus. The kitchen sink looks out on a green expanse that’s lovely to admire and there are plenty of amenities such as a toaster oven, coffee maker, teakettle, spatulas, ladles, silverware, dishes, sharp! knives. It’s easy to put together a home-cooked meal.
Meals should be eaten out on the lanai when the weather allows. You can sit out well into the evening and watch the stars appear. Should you want a more elegant setting there’s a large oval table in the dining room with plenty of light from the windows surrounding it.
The living room boasts a huge flat screen tv and plenty of space to just hang and read or check your messages.
Downstairs there are two bedrooms. The master is quite a large room with a king-size bed, private bath and large closet as well as a sliding glass door to another private lanai and the enormous chest filled with snorkeling fins and masks to fit anyone.
The other bedroom with two twin beds is very comfortable. There are also luggage stands to hold suitcases or you could put all of your clothes in the lovely sturdy bamboo chest drawers and store the suitcases in the roomy closet.
Just before the bedrooms is the downstairs bath. The shower is good and hot with a strong showerhead. You can drop your swimsuit on the floor of the shower while you shower and hang it up right inside the shower on hooks to drip dry. Easy peasy.
Also downstairs are a washer and dryer for those days that you need to catch up with some clean clothes or towels.
The house couldn’t be more comfortable. All of your needs are easily met. What a delight to live there. Only problem is that you have to leave.
This charming property has everything ready for a vacationer to move in! All details, such as: laundry and dish soap, snorkeling gear and beach towels, some food staples, TV and local radio, microwave, toaster oven, grill are all present. Bathrooms more than convenient for even more than 4 guests. Bedrooms in lower level ensure cooler nights. The back lanai is situated adjacent to a wooded area filled with native birds. The ocean is visible, but across the street and down a little bit. This location is versatile for active vacationers, or folks who want to slow down and relax. Nearby shopping, post office, library, restaurants and golf course complete life's necessities!
Hosts are extremely gracious, and encourage communication for any reason.
Really enjoyed the home. Plenty of room and very tastefully decorated in the island fashion. Great access to many Hawaiian adventures. An odviously very well looked after property.
