We would like to welcome you to our lovely home and this beautiful unspoilt part of France! La Chapelle-Montbrandeix is a beautiful small village, with its own village green with childrens activities, small chapel, and a bar/restaurant called Chez Jules. We are situated very close to Chateu de Montbron, which has a lovely Tavern restaurant that holds regular jazz evenings. The Chateu, or castle, was built in the 12th and 15th centuries, and was restored in the late 19th and opens to visitors. The house is very conveniently placed to many lovely local villages and is a very short drive or bike ride to Cussac and Dournazac, each with their own restaurants and food stores etc., giving you lots of options to try out. If you can tear yourself away from relaxing around the house’s beautiful garden and pool, the area is full of stunning countryside, lovely lakes with beaches, water sports and other activities. Also within a very short drive of the house there are lots of historic towns and 'beau villages' to explore including Brantome, nicknamed the little venice of the Dordogne. Feeling more adventurous there are two outdoor zip wire activity centres close-by, go-karting, cycling routes and many more options for you to explore. Haute Vienne is known as the French Lake District and so you can expect to see some beautiful countryside and fabulous scenery too. For those who enjoy nature and the outdoors there's plenty of fauna and flora to see, its a walker and bird watchers paradise. The house is very close to the Dordogne border providing even more choice and the very best of both regions right on its doorstep. The property is in an immaculate condition and finished to a very high standard. Situated in beautiful landscaped gardens with stone terraces, mature trees and shrubs. A purpose built barbecue area for alfresco dining with a separate covered terrace to sit and watch the sun go down. The house has a swimming pool, sauna and three king size rooms, in addition to one double bed and one ground floor twin room. The grounds are very private creating a little oasis for your enjoyment.                                                               This house is amazing, it made our stay super relaxing. The village is postcard pretty and the house reflects this too. It has everything you need to make it feel home from home, You can tell a lot of love has gone into making the house perfect for every guest. The pool is a perfect size too. No complaints at all, you even get a hairdryer in each room which makes for lighter packing! We will definitely be back!

                                                              A wonderful property set in a beautiful area

                                                              This is a truly magnificent property, well maintained, and set in a beautiful part of France. It is clean, spacious and well laid out ensuring that a large family can enjoy their holiday, comfortably. Additionally, the owners have clearly gone to great lengths to ensure that all the comforts of home are provided which added to the experience.                                                               Idyllic

                                                              My husband and I had a thoroughly relaxing holiday here. The house is set in a very friendly village with an excellent bar/ restaurant. The house was beautifully decorated and well equipped. The pool was just perfect for cooling off. The owners were extremely helpful and made us feel very welcome. We loved the area as it had lots of beautiful walks and cycle rides. Can't wait to return. Kath and Phil

                                                              Lovely, well appointed property

                                                              This lovely property provides an ideal base for exploring the local area. The house is well maintained, very clean and spacious for a large group of adults. The garden area is extensive providing plenty of space for relaxing around the pool. The gas fired barbecue was well used and the outside eating area is lovely for enjoying the sunny evenings. A car is essential as the nearest supermarket is a 10 minute drive away and there is only one bar/restaurant in the village. However, this provides excellent, very reasonably priced meals and the owners are friendly and hospitable. We hired bikes to explore the local area and the lake is within walking distance. You do need to drive to other amenities and attractions. The owner lives nearby and is willing to help out with any difficulties. If you like to 'get away' and enjoy a bit of rural France this property is ideal.

                                                              France at its best!

                                                              My family and I (group of 6) thoroughly enjoyed our 2 week holiday at La Chapelle. The area is absolutely stunning with an abundance of small market towns to visit within a short drive. Brantome is a particular favourite of ours, along with Thiviers and each have fabulous markets on different days of the week. The cottage is simply stunning, furnished to a very high standard, well equipped and immaculately clean; offering visitors a wonderful, comfortable stay. The pool and gardens are well kept and again absolutely spotless.The bbq and patio area ideal for alfresco dining and catching the last of the evening sun. The property is well set back from the very quiet road and is a glorious peaceful location. The village has a bar/restaurant a few hundred metres along the road, where a Menu Du Jour is available for approx 12Euros pp. It's incredible value and extremely friendly. There is also a little van that pulls up in the mornings which sells various breads and pastries. This was great if a pool day was planned. I can't recommend this property highly enough and we have re-booked for 2015, as it is superb value for money and offers an outstanding holiday and taste of France.

                                                              Lovely property

                                                              We spend a fabulous week at the holiday house in La Chapelle. The house was really spacious for 9 of us and comfortable and the kitchen was huge and well appointed. There was a gat range of DVDs which was useful on the wet day we had. But the best bit was the outside space. The gardens were mature and beautifully planted and th re was a large lawn area. The pool was small but perfect for cooling off and the loungers around the pool were very comfortable. We ate outside most of the time and made good use of the barbecue area. And the covered patio was lovely to sit in during the evening. I'd thoroughly recommend the house and the area. Thanks, Jo, for a lovely week. 🌟🌟🌟

                                                              Coast/Beach: 15 mins by car to either St Saud Lacoussiere or Saint Mathieu beach lake with peddles, swimming, fishing and children’s play area, the former with a bar/restaurant 19 mins by car to Bussiere Gallant beach lake with excellent high wire tree assault course. 25 mins by car St Estephe beach lake with snack bar and canoeing. Travel: Ryanair fly to Limoges (40 min drive from village) from London Stansted, Bristol, Leeds Bradford, Liverpool and East Midlands Airports. Car rental is possible at the airport. A pleasant 7 hour drive from Calais, Caen or St Malo via ferry or Eurotunnel. A car is recommended. Distances: Within a 15 minute drive max are restaurants to suit all tastes. Good home cooked food at the restaurant in the village (a one minute walk from the house) In addition, theme night Fridays & jazz nights at Chateau de Montbron. Nearby St Saud, you will find pizzerias, a hotel restaurant and the award winning restaurant of Hostellerie St Jacques. 8 mins to nearest town for food shopping, fuel and restaurants 20 minutes to Chalus and other historic towns, medieval villages,lakes, beaches, river fishing, fly fishing, go karting and close by to major towns. Further Details: The location gives you the best of both worlds, complete tranquillity and beautiful countryside, but all the convenience of the local towns, shops and activities. With plenty to see and do, there is something for everyone here. You won’t run out of ideas but you might run out of time! There is also fishing available for both the experienced and those who just want to enjoy the pleasure. The village has its own commune lake and sells daily tickets for just 6€ but you will need to bring or hire your own equipment.
