Spacious Chalet in Linga, Chatel, Haute Savoie, France - Very Well Equipped Self-catered Chalet In Quiet Location

Spacious half chalet (150m2) on two floors with 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms (2 ensuite) and 2 large balconies facing the slopes of Linga (accommodating 6 people).

By agreement, a fourth bedroom (2 bunk beds) and bathroom are available on a third floor to provide accommodation for 10 people - please contact the owner. Ideally suited for a maximum of 6 adults and 4 children.

Please note that the rental prices are quoted in EUROS. Any other currency quoted on this website is for guidance only. The weekly rental price quoted here is for 3 bedrooms + 3 bathrooms (maximum 6 people). If you require the 4th bedroom & bathroom (maximum 6 adults + 4 children) there will be an additional charge. Please contact the owner or go to our website www.chaletpascal.com where all the prices are displayed.

Chalet Pascal is furnished and equipped to a very high standard and is 90 minutes from Geneva. The main lifts at Linga are a 3 minute walk and give you easy access to the Portes du Soleil ski area, which with 650km of piste, incorporates 14 resorts including Chatel, Avoriaz and Morzine.

Please note that the chalet is not suitable for mountain bikers as we don't have the facilities for washing bikes and lots of mud!

Chris and Sally Francis live in the Cotswolds with two sons. We first skied in the Chatel area back in 1985 and have skied in many other resorts since but have always found ourselves returning to the Portes du Soleil.

Why Chris and Sally Francis chose Portes du Soleil

We finally bought our own chalet....why? because, from our experience of many European ski areas the Portes du Soleil provides the best mix of fantastic skiing, quality mountain restaurants, value for money and truly friendly locals. And, not only does it provide winter fun, but has a wealth of activities for the summer. The Chatel valley is still very much a working mountain community; it is surprising to see the cows in the barns during the ski season and then wonderful to see them grazing on the pastureland during the summer months!

What makes this chalet unique

It's approximately 90mins to Geneva airport which allows for weekend visits and longer holidays. It is a comfortable 8 hour drive from Calais.

Notes on accommodation: We have an in-resort manager who will help with any questions you have during your stay. He can also organise ski hire, ski passes, babysitting etc. If you do not feel like cooking we can put you in touch with a company that will bring supper to your door! The prices shown are in Euros for THREE BEDROOMS (up to six people) for 7 nights excluding sheets & towels. (These are availabe for hire at 20euros per person). The FOURTH BEDROOM AND BATHROOM are available by arrangement. Please contact the owner. Outside: There are two large balconies which face east enjoying the morning sunshine and overlook the slopes at Linga. There is a decked terrace at the rear which looks out on the national park and gets the evening sun. Utility Room: Ski room with boot warmers, drying area for ski cloths etc. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The rental price includes a final clean provided the chalet has been left in a reasonable state but does not include bed linen/towels. Fantastic, cosy chalet & excellent location

We had a brilliant stay. It's a spacious but cosy chalet, the perfect place to relax after a day on the slopes. Well-equipped kitchen, comfy beds and sofas and good bathrooms with plenty of hot water - important when you're a group of adults!! Great location - just a few mins walk over the road to the lift and onto the slopes, and close to restaurants, bars etc. The views from the chalet are gorgeous and we loved the area for skiing. Really good for all abilities.

We loved the chalet - and area - so much we are coming back in the summer with our three children.

Wonderful family winter chalet!

Chalet Pascal is a wonderful family winter chalet! Perfectly situated in the Linga area of Chatel, it gives straight entrance for the whole Portes du Soleil ski area.

The bed- and bathrooms are clean and comfortable. Kitchen is fully equipped.

We enjoyed our stay with 2 families (children from 9 - 15 yrs) so much, that we already booked for next year!

Great Chalet

If you are looking for a great self-catering chalet with easy access to the huge Portes du Soleil ski area, look no further. Chalet Pascal is the best chalet we've ever stayed in - and we've tried loads in different French resorts. What makes it great? The facilities and the location. Spacious, very comfortable and extremely well-kitted out. Wonderful bedrooms. spacious lounge and, most importantly, plenty of shower space and loos! The extra bunk room and shower room, which means that up to 10 can be accommodated, makes it really flexible. What luxury - a drying room with boot warmers. No lines of boots in the entrance, or cold boots in the morning and damp jackets. We are self-caterers and often we've stayed in places that pay lip-service to this, with poor equipment. Chalet Pascal is fully equipped with all that is needed to prepare and enjoy a great meal after a days's skiing. But be aware, this is not in an area where there is a great choice of restaurants to walk to, so if you want to go out it's a limited local choice or a car ride into the centre of Chatel. And a car is needed to get to the supermarket, which closes at 7 p.m. so you need to plan shopping trips. Location within easy walking to the lifts is great. We've stayed in other places in Chatel before and rather ignored La Linga lift which is close to Chalet Pascal, heading further up the valley by car or on the bus. But at Chalet Pascal, just walk down to La Linga lift, which never proved busy, and you're away. Added bonus is that the runs home down to this lift are really good, much better than most "'home runs". If you want to try other lift stations, the resort buses are very efficient and frequent.

Highly recommended. We'll be back.

Comfort and convenience

We have been skiing with our now grown up children since they were three year olds. So we all knew what we wanted - we wanted somewhere that was comfortable, roomy and convenient for lifts. Chalet Pascal offered much more with its large sitting room and big cosy sofas, wonderful underfloor heating and a view of the Linga lift just minutes away. We all loved the ski room and boot warmers - a great space to get togged up and ready to go in the morning. Plus a closed garage to keep the snow off the car. I loved the fully equipped kitchen where I could cook a hearty supper for us all (we all took turns!). Lovely bedrooms with great views, spotlessly clean throughout and very good value. We will definitely return.

Magnifique chalet. Nous avons loué l'intégralité (les 4 chambres). Prestations dignes d'un grand hôtel, literie, linge de lit et de toilette, vaisselle en nombre, propreté irréprochable, décoration soignée, local à ski chauffé très appréciable pour y laisser chaussures et manteaux. A deux pas de la remonté du Linga. PARFAIT. Nous venons à Châtel depuis plusieurs années et avons rarement loué mieux. Contact par mail avec les propriétaires très agréable. Nous reviendrons.

Coast/Beach:

The chalet is about 45 mins from Lake Geneva. There are also wonderful natural spring baths at Val d'Ille.

Travel:

The chalet is 90 mins from Geneva airport where there are numerous car hire companies. Tranfer companies: Magic Transfers or Professional Transfers will take you to the door of the chalet. There is also a train from Geneva airport directly to Aigle (south east of Lake Geneva). Aigle is about a 30 min drive from the chalet.

As with all roads in the Alps their condition varies according to the weather and at certain times you may need winter tyres and/or chains to get up to the chalet.

Distances:

The chalet is in Linga (Chatel) where there is a range of ski hire shops, bars, restaurants and a boulangerie within easy walking distance. The large supermarket is about 2 miles away.

The centre of Chatel is a 2 minute drive (or bus) and has a larger selection of shops, restaurants and banks etc.

Further Details:

IN THE WINTER: in addition to alpine skiing, there are several other activities including: Nordic skiing, snow shoe walking, husky sledging rides and natural hot spring baths.

CHATEL IN THE SUMMER:

The Portes du Soleil is the centre for mountain biking. It is easy to hire bikes - we have even managed to find a shop that rents out bikes with batteries! The mountain lifts are open which allows easy access to some of the more picturesque areas and there are lots of lovely walking trails.

Chatel is only about half an hour from Lake Geneva and there is a championship golf course at Evian. There is a hot springs pool at Val d’Illez, rafting on the River Dranse, horse-riding, tennis and if you enjoy a thrill you can always try the Fantasticable at Plane Dranse!

Booking Notes:
To secure your booking we require a deposit of £400 (3 bedrooms) or £600 (4 bedrooms) [or the Euro equivalent] and the return of a completed booking form. This money will be retained as a security desposit against damages and returned at the end of your stay. Provisional bookings will be held for 7 days only, after which time we reserve the right to sell your proposed holiday week to another client.

The full rent (in Euros) should be deposited in our French bank account by bank transfer at least eight weeks before commencement of the rental period. Euro cheques may incurr an additional charge.

Changeover Day:
Saturday - the chalet will be ready for guests from 4pm and on departure day guests are required to vacate by 10am.
