About Spains Hall

Spains Hall Estate is a family run business and our holiday cottages have been lovingly renovated to give them a new lease of life.

Spains Hall purchased this cottage in 1949

Why Spains Hall chose Essex

The Lodges have been part of the Estate since they were built - their heritage is our heritage! The Ruggles-Brise family have lived at Spains Hall since 1768, only the 3rd family to live here since 1086.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Our wedding day was the best day of our lives and this mainly due to the amazing team and surroundings at Spains Hall. We did not want our day to end. Waking up here was incredible, what a beautiful place to have our first breakfast together. Archie, Anna, Helga and Ellie you were all amazing, thank you so much for everything - we will never forget our wedding at Spains Hall.

A wonderful weekend

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed in North Lodge 8 times in as many years. Booking is easy and the cottage is always ready for us to relax in as soon as we walk through the door. It's far away enough from other buildings, with a great view of Spain's Hall. It's a few minutes away from the lovely village and the Fox is a great pub to eat in. My wife says it's her favourite place to go even though we go abroad too.

Excellent cottage - would highly recommend

  • 5 of 5

Immaculately clean, warm, comfortable, well equipped. Downstairs bedroom and shower room great for mum with mobility problems, she didn't have to go into the kitchen so the three steps down weren't an issue. Lovely peaceful surroundings, that and the very comfortable bedrooms meant we all slept extremely well. The pack of supplies and the fresh flowers in the dining room were a very nice welcome. Local village of finchingfield very picturesque with local shop, tea shops and pubs - good for dining out in the evening and lazy breakfasts. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to return someday.

Perfect location, character cottage

  • 5 of 5

The cottage has heaps of character and is in a beautiful location in the stunning village of Finchingfield. The cottage is spacious and is very comfortable for a short or long break. We loved how close it was to Cambridge and Ely. For two to four people, it's perfect as there are two lovely bedrooms. The cottage is well equipped with everything you would need including food essentials. A thoughtful touch. Anna provided helpful information and was quick to respond. It was so lovely to spend our first wedding anniversary at the place where we married! We'll be back!
