Great little house, with everything you need for a lovely stay. Very cosy, in a beautiful area. We've made some very nice walks, suited for everyone who loves the peace and quiet of the countryside.

Family Stay in Beautiful Essex Countryside

My wife, myself and our two teenage children had a wonderful stay for one week at Crest Lodge.

Based in the grounds of Spains Hall, the Lodge House is beautifully furnished and fully equipped for everything you need for a family holiday.

The house was spacious, comfortable and set in a well maintained private garden.

As well as day trips to the coast, Rope Runners Adventure Park, a fantastic fun maze and local towns, we went on a couple of walks in the nearby countryside.

We had a wonderful, relaxing time and I would definitely recommend this Rural Cottage Hideaway.

Perfect stay at Spains Hall Cottage

The cottage was delightful everything we had hoped for and more. Clean and well furnished. Comfortable beds and a well equipped kitchen. The owners and staff made us feel at home and provided a comprehensive welcome pack of fruit and cereal etc. Any requests we had were quickly attended to. The garden is big with lawns flower beds and trees as well as enough garden furniture for entertaining visitors. Surrounded by farmland the cottage is perfectly located for country walks and is just ten minutes walk via a quiet lane or public footpaths to the picturesque village of Finchingfield with its pubs restaurants and shops. We would love to stay there again and would recommend it to anyone.

Wonderful place, nicely managed, impeccably clean

We regret that we cannot accept guests under the age of 21, except as part of a family group accompanied by parents/guardians. Sorry but due to the immaculate condition of the Lodges we are unable to accept any pets. Breakfast is not provided unless by prior arrangement. Crest Lodge maximum persons permitted at any time 12 (6 residents and 6 visitors), North Lodge maximum persons permitted at any time 10 (4 residents and 6 visitors), South Lodge maximum persons permitted at any time 10 (4 residents and 6 visitors) (includes both lodges, gardens and grounds). Outside: All Lodges have private gardens. Crest Lodge has an enclosed garden with mature shrubs and trees overlooking grassland fields. The bricked patio area is immediately outside the sun room which contains wicker furniture. North Lodge offers a fenced garden with decked area and wooden garden furniture and gas patio heater. South Lodge has a fenced garden over-looking open fields and a south-west facing conservatory. We regret that due to the private nature of the grounds and surrounding farmland we are unable to allow renters access to either.
