Luxurious Barn On The Edge Of A Picturesque Cotswold Town On The River Thames

Bedrooms 2
Property type barn
Minimum Stay 2 - 3 nights

About the property

Barn at Lechlade, The Cotswolds, Gloucestershire, England - Surrounded By Beautiful Countryside And Picturesque Cotswold Villages For You To Explore

Lechlade is a bustling town on the River Thames and the gateway to the Cotswolds. The Barn at Lechlade sits in the grounds of Bridge House, built in Cotswold stone in the late 17th century and retaining many of it's original period charms. It has a large open plan sitting room with plenty of space to relax overlooking the beautiful gardens. The area is steeped in history and dotted with picturesque Cotswold villages to explore. Lechlade is surrounded by beautiful countryside to explore on foot or by bike on one of the many cycle routes. There are plenty of opportunities for fishing or boating on the river or book a round of golf at one of the nearby golf courses. The towns of Cirencester, Cheltenham and Oxford are all within easy reach with all they have to offer, whether it's shopping and fashion you're after or a literary or music festival or a day at the races. If it's fine dining you're after then try one of the fabulous restaurants or gastro pubs all just minutes away.

About Deborah Dyer

I am a mother of 3 with 2 girls now at University and a boy taking his GCSE's. I live in Lechlade with my partner Peter and 2 black labradors. I am a fashion stylist and fitness instructor with an active and busy business and social life. I love entertaining and love sharing my gorgeous barn with guests whilst they visit the Cotswolds.

Deborah Dyer purchased this barn in 2012

Why Deborah Dyer chose Lechlade

I've lived in Lechlade for years and when faced with moving I couldn't leave the area. I like being in the Cotswolds where you can experience the beautiful countryside (including walking my dogs down the Thames every morning) while still being close to Cheltenham and Oxford for that all important retail therapy.

What makes this barn unique

On the edge of Lechlade, you'll sample the real cotswold life - peace and tranquility but with access to all the activities that come with a cotswold village by the Thames. The main town of Lechlade offers riverside pubs and quintessential village shops. Its a popular fishing location and idyllic for that afternoon roast and post meal stroll. A little further up the road Cheltenham and Oxford beckons. Shopping trips to Cheltenham can be organised or you can simply relax in comfort at the Barn. Either way, we offer a real experience you're sure to remember.

A beautiful barn with fabulous gardens and a wonderful host.

The barn is amazing, like a home from home and Deborah looked after us so well. The gardens around the property are beautiful and there is so much for children to do. I can recommend Deborah's cooking too, she made us the most amazing dinner on our last night.

We will definitely be returning.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your lovely review, it really was a pleasure to have you to stay. I'm missing Alyna's gymnastics in the garden! It makes it more pleasurable when I'm at the kitchen sink. I've kept her little notes too, such a sweetie. I hope to see you here again sometime.

Feels like an exclusive boutique hotel

  • 5 of 5

The Barn is beautifully decorated and architecturally stunning; it is a holiday in itself just to look at it. It was a five minute walk to the town centre so no need to drive anywhere to eat and the pub on the river was a lovely way to while away a pleasant hour as was hiring a rowing boat. My teens loved the table tennis, football and darts and it was a lovely week-end for reconnecting as a family. Thank you Deborah for all those lovely personal touches and being a font of information on where to go and what to see. The Smith family are fully rested and even a wee bit tanned! :)

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review. I'm so pleased you enjoyed The Barn and came away with a suntan too! The good old Cotswold weather! My thanks too for leaving the place looking so neat and tidy, it's much appreciated and so kind of you to have stripped the beds! Do come again and bring that weather back with you!

A great find indeed. All is here and just perfect for our family of mum, dad, teenage and older son and girlfriend, pet friendly too. Opportunity for great walks in the local area. Deborah was very helpful in providing recommendations for day trips and local pubs. Will definitely return.

A well appointed place with fantastic outdoor space in a great location

  • 5 of 5

A half term stay with 2 marauding boys doesn't often end well. No need to worry here; a welcome cake, an abundance of outdoor space and plenty of space between our bedroom and their's meant all went well !!

Loved the barn, kids loved the garden, what more to say !

Highly recommended. Go with your kids, kick them out into the garden (football, basketball, table tennis etc etc) and kick back.

We had a fantastic 2 night stay at The Barn and wish we could have stayed longer. The accommodation was fantastic in beautiful grounds with an abundance of things to do to keep our 19 month old son happy. We didn't meet Deborah as she was away but she was in contact and a pleasure to deal with. The little touches (such as complimentary home baked goods) finished it off nicely and we would definitely return if visiting the area again. Tips: take a pair of slippers, the floor is tiled and in the heart of January was a little cold on the toesies and also we ate at the Riverside pub in the village but if we revisited we choose one of the many other options of eating places that were also in the pretty village.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review and I'm so pleased you enjoyed your time at The Barn. I'm only sad that I didn't get to meet you all on this occasion. You make a good point about bringing slippers maybe I could supply some for guests in the future so thank you for the tip. As far as places to eat in Lechlade itself goes. I would recommend the New Inn or Colleys Supper Rooms if you do manage to get back this way. Other than that, there are a number of fabulous pubs located in all directions about 5 to 10 minutes drive away.

Gorgeous property in the beautiful Cotswolds

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at Lechlade. Deborah did everything to make us feel very welcome, including a home made cake. The property is lovely, clean, tidy and with everything you need. I loved all of the finishing touches including snuggly dressing gowns. Additionally there were plenty of toys for my nephew and DVDs. The local area is beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Hope to be back.
