The property was built 1272 and is constructed of the local stone. The house is located in the centre of the historic bastide village of Beaumont du Perigord. The village has numerous restaurants and cafés. The nearest restaurant is just a sneeze away, there is also a pharmacy, butcher, boulangerie, minimarket, tabac, tourist information office and many interesting individual shops around the village square to suit your individual needs. There are also other shops of different crafts, object de art, antiques, wood carving, jewellery maker, perfumery and a number of other interesting shops all with their own characteristics. Beaumont du Perigord has its own history for you to discover, and the village also has its own characteristics, the weekly markets daytime throughout the year and the summer night time markets, sometimes with a theme, be it musical, brocante, gourmet, art and crafts as well as all the other various activities and events that take place in the square.
We have recently returned from a very relaxing two week holiday in the Dordogne, based in Maison Viellet. The house was ideal for our requirements and is situated very near the centre of the Bastide village of Beaumont. The house was comfortable, clean and well equipped and the owners were very welcoming , including the provision of a welcome pack.
There are a couple of bars and three restaurants within the village, our favourite being Chez Claudette, which is just round the corner from the house. Beaumont is within easy reach of Bergerac, Sarlat and lots of delightful villages and vineyards.
We have just returned from a wonderful holiday at Maison Vieillot.
The house exceeded our expectations, perfect for our group of 4. The
property is located at the end of a short alley in the center of this
lovely Bastide town (it is only the size of a small English village),
so all the essential shops and more are right at your finger tips.
There is also a very large supermarket 2 minutes drive away. On our
previous visits to France we have always stayed in more remote area's,
but this location we found was special and added so much more to our

We can honestly say that we all left wishing we could extend our
holiday, unfortunately we have other commitments so couldn't. We are
now hoping to return to this property in July/August of this year as we
want to enjoy some of the extra seasonal activities that are available
