My husband and I live in London with our children and bought this villa for our family holidays. It is has been a special place for our family holidays with friends.
Sarah Martin purchased this villa in 2005
We fell in love with the area on our first visit there because of the beautiful beaches, dramatic coast line, greenery, golf, coast line walks, exceptional restaurants and endless medieval villages to explore.
The property has a great holiday feel and is perfect for two families to share with large secured garden for the children to play and explore.
The house is beautifully located near to the top of the hill and has stunning views of the Mediterranean below.
The house is tastefully decorated and perfectly fitted out for a coastal holiday stay, epitomizes comfort and style, is situated a short distance (drive because of the hill) from the beach and restaurants on the coast below and not far from the amenities of Aigua Blava Village centre.
The kitchen is fully fitted out to reflect home, the house is air conditioned and is equipped with TV & DVD.
We enjoyed lovely panoramic ocean views from the balcony where we cooked regularly on the BBQ, swam in the pool and relaxed in the very private roof top garden.
Car accommodation is single garage behind auto gates.
A truly wonderful holiday destination for a family or friends.
Sarah had left directions for us to visit the local coastal and rural towns around Aigua Blava which we did on each day of our stay.
The towns usually had a restaurant with Michelin Hat ratings with food to die for, beaches that ebbed and flowed upto your feet whilst sipping away on a beer or a wine.
The experience of Sarah’s house at Aigua Blava and the surrounding region is the purpose keeping me working so I can afford to go back again soon.
This holiday house has absolutely everything you need. Just drop your bags and start relaxing. The views are nothing short of spectacular. The house is very well equipped with beautiful modern furniture, a lovely kitchen, lovely bathrooms and a great outdoor area for outdoor dining. The pool is sparkling and the gardens are beautiful. The house is very secure which is comforting. The restaurants around Aigua Blava are nothing short of amazing. The owner, Sarah is very friendly and gives guests are great guide on things to do and restaurants to visit. The manager was also very friendly when we met her to collect the keys. We loved our stay which we spent with friends and we will definitely be coming back.
We had a great holiday in this home away from home, everything you need in a holiday house of this calibre inside and out. Beautifully furnished and maintained. Magical gardens and pool. The views are amazing of Aigua Blava. To top it off great restaurants, beaches and shops to travel to every day. This home is spectacular, we will definitely be back !!
The villa is set in lovely grounds and has a spectacular view over the rugged green countryside down to the sparkling sea. It is very well equipped, both inside and out, including BBQ, heated pool and trampoline. The wifi signal was a little "spotty" when we stayed, but coverage picked up when we mentioned it to the property manager, who was very friendly and helpful (as was the owner). There is plenty of room and the villa is generally in excellent condition throughout. Like a lot of places, you need to watch out for the mosquitos when sitting outside in the evening, but even if you're bitten, it's worth it for the view! The local area has plenty to offer (we visited Aiguablava and Calella de Palafrugell beaches amongst other beaches, which are both beautiful) and overall I would highly recommend this villa, particularly for families with younger children!
This is a stunning property, meticulously maintained and appointed. The al fresco dining is inspired capturing the beauty of the coastline. The property comfortably sleeps 10 with varied living spaces. It was love at first sight.
We have absolutely loved staying in this Villa over many years!! The views of the costa brava coastline, whilst enjoying meals on the spacious terrace is a highlight! Located close to stunning beaches, charming medieval towns and fantastic food markets. The villa offers many chill out areas, beautiful garden and good sized pool to spend lazy afternoons. Can't recommend this place high enough!
We are just above the beautiful sandy cove of Aigua Blava which is a 5 minute drive down the hill. The beaches of Llafranc, Tamariu, Calella, Sa Riera, Sa Tuna, and Aigua Gelida, are all within a short drive. This is a great area for walking as there are 'rights of way' and walking paths along the entire coastline.
To really enjoy your holiday in this area a car is essential. The nearest airport is Girona less than one hour away, Perpignan is 90mins, Barcelona 90 mins. Car hire is readily available and quite reasonable from the airports.
The nearest small town Begur, a 5 minute drive, is, a charming bustling town crowned with an impressive hilltop castle, is a charming place to shop, roam the cobbled streets, have a drink in the square or enjoy one of the many excellent Catalan restaurants. Palafrugell is our nearest market town and offers a great choice of shops with everything you could want. There is a daily market with meat, fish, fruit and vegetables. On Sunday the big market takes place.
There are dozens of medieval villages in the area which offer great restaurants, boutiques and history, some of our favourites being Pals, Peratallada, Ullastret, roman ruins at Empuries and the ruined fort at Torroella de Montgri. Girona is fascinating; explore the ancient Jewish quarter, cathedral and walks. The Dali theatre museum in Figueres is amazing, Cadaques (home to Dali), a quaint fishing village a great day trip; ceramics and pottery shops at La Bisbal. Further afield, Barcelona is well worth seeing; the bus tour is particularly good and easy to do.
There is something for everyone in this area described as the jewel of the Costa Brava: relaxing in the villa, by the pool or on one of the many beaches; spectacular coastal and rural walks, water sports, marine reserves (Ses Negres, Islas Medes), golf, tennis, scuba diving, water park, horse-riding, go-karting; daily markets held each day of the week in a different nearby village or town; cafes, shops, superb restaurants either by the sea. This area is well known for its exceptional standard of cooking, both at inexpensive and at the more gourmet restaurants. There is somewhere to suit all budgets and tastes.
