About frank durrant

The owners of Rose Cottage, Barbara and Frank Durrant, live next door in a similar property. We have been in the village for all of our lives and so feel that we are able to add to the enjoyment of your holiday by providing personal recommendations for all the things to see and do in this most beautiful part of the country.

What makes this cottage unique

The village of Stockland is ideally suited for those wishing to explore both the countryside and coastal resorts of East Devon and West Dorset . There are well marked circular walks starting right outside the front door - no need for the car - with many more within a 30 . The Jurassic Coast is virtually on your doorstep but with the attraction of being able to retreat to the peace and quiet of the village at the end of the day . For those wishing to eat out there is a selection of country pubs serving fine food , whilst the nearest towns , Axminster and Honiton , have some good restaurants and take-away outlets , the former being the home of the River Cottage Canteen . There is a small Farm shop a 5 mins. drive away which sells local produce , milk etc. and cream teas .

A warm, cosy cottage offering the peace of the countryside as well as good access to the beach.

  • 5 of 5

A well looked after, clean, and cosy cottage just right for small families. Frank and Barbara warmly welcomed us and looked after us throughout, for which we were very grateful.

The cottage has two very good sized bedrooms and two bathrooms, and so plenty of room to stretch out.

We stayed a week and wished we'd booked longer!

To anyone with an interest in astronomy you'll appreciate the dark skies the village has to offer. Remember your binoculars!

You'll need a car as it's a rural location though no more than 20 minutes from major supermarkets or the beach.

Lovely cottage and fabulous host

  • 5 of 5

We arrived with family of four for a 2- night stay. Frank greeted us like a family member, he was the most welcoming host we've ever met!

The cottage was very cosy inside and equipped with everything one needs. Frank and his wife provided even a basket filled with bread, butter, biscuits, cereal, coffee and milk in a fridge.

Both bedrooms upstairs were very cute and clean.

We had a wedding to attend in a nearby village and Frank kindly offered to drop us off and pick us up late at night. Such a kind gesture!

He is the best host ever, so friendly and chatty! If we ever go back to this area we would definitely stay there again. It's a very charming place.

The cottage was very homely and had everything you needed for a relaxing stay. Beautiful views from the back garden. Loved the log burner. The owners were extremely helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Hope to go back. Thankyou.

Einfach zum Wohlfühlen - und tolle Vermieter

  • 5 of 5

All the Jurassic coast resorts are within easy reach. A 30 min. car journey allows you to be on any beach from West Bay to Sidmouth . A little further East the Chesil Beach stretches all the way to Weymouth . Lyme Regis , with its famous Cobb and harbour , offers something for everyone. The walks on the cliff tops around Beer/Branscome , Lyme Regis , Charmouth/Seatown are unbeatable and are not spoiled by caravan parks or developments

Closest airports are Exeter , 20 miles , and Bristol , 40 miles . Both Honiton and Axminster rail stations are 6 miles away and serve London Waterloo .Taunton station is 15 miles , serving Bristol . Your own transport is essential as there is no public transport serving the village

Stockland is equidistant from Axminster , Honiton and Chard at 6 miles .Exeter is 25 miles away and Taunton 16 .

Further Details:

There are so many things to see and do in this area that it is impossible to list them here. We have 3 contrasting Farm shops selling a large variety of produce within 5 miles . We would be pleased to recommend Pubs , restaurants and attractions if and when asked . There really is so much to see and do.
