English farmhouse living at it's best! Would so return
The beauty of Ashstead farm is beyond words. We were blessed with phenomenal weather, however on our rainy day we equally loved playing cards with a crackling fire going. The house is spacious and cozy all at the same time. Our sons are avid bird watchers and our family took several hikes right from the house. The house was impeccably clean. And I doubt I will ever have a more stunning view to look at while doing dishes than that from Ashstead farm. Helen went above and beyond the call of duty to help us on several occasions and treat us more like family than guest renting a house. Although the owner's home is attached to the rental, we were never disturbed by anything. We learned so much about the running of the farm and the challenges and blessings of that when we asked. It was more than a rental house for us. It was an amazing opportunity to learn about someone else's life and get perspective on our own lives. We've rented homes many times. Helen made our first visit to the Lake district feel like we were at home. She was very responsive when we had needs of any kind. I can't recommend it enough. Ashstead farm gives it's renters the real deal experience of living on an English farm.
Excellent property. Comfortable cosy and all you’d want out of a weekend away
This was our second visit to this property and we plan to try and come back again next year. Lovely cottage with fantastic views. It has everything we would have wanted.
Excellent cottage in an excellent location, very quiet, good fire place.
Property was cosy and clean with everything we needed or asked for provided.
Property was lovely and the owner Helen and her family went out of their way to make our stay more enjoyable.
Helen and her son came to get us on the first night when we arrived and were lost.
The house was decorated in both the dining room and living room for Xmas and Helen had left presents under the tree for all of us which was above and beyond and a lovely touch.
Nothing that we asked for was our problem and Helen was happy to show the children around the farm and explain to our kids what they did at the farm.
Nothing was too much to ask for and we were even given more wood on Christmas Day when we asked as we had run out.
I have nothing but positive things to say about the property and hosts and would recommend to anybody.
Location was also very convenient being only 10 mins drive to Kendal town centre and supermarkets etc. The lakes were a short drive and we were surrounded by amazing countryside, farm shops and walks for the family.
Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable.
The perfect break
Gorgeous house - so spacious yet cozy. Very clean and lovely little touches everywhere. Perfect place to enjoy the Lakes and the Dales from, especially knowing you have a warm, comfortable, quirky home to return to. Kids loved having a top bunk each too. Absolutely loved it!
Great place for a long weekend in the Lake District
We had a great time at this amazing cottage, perfectly located in the countryside and a short drive to some great walks in the Lake District. It was very clean and had everything we needed, including all the essentials for cooking. We had some great nights by the fire and thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
