About Claire Jones

We live and work in County Durham and travel down to the Dales frequently as it is only 40 minutes away. We love to visit this area with Jessie our dog, often with friends and family too. We enjoy walking, cycling and visiting the villages and pubs locally. Peter and Claire

Claire Jones purchased this cottage in 2005

Why Claire Jones chose Yorkshire Dales

We bought the cottage 13 years ago, because we fell in love with the area and the friendly pub with its pot-bellied pigs that used to live in the pub garden. (Hence the unusual name of the cottage - chosen by our children). We have used it mainly for family holidays and with friends for weekend get aways.

What makes this cottage unique

The cottage is a listed 16th century Long House. Above the lintels there are engravings welcoming spring.

Great place to tour the Dales

  • 4 of 5

This is a comfortable cottage with period features. It's well equiped and cosy - espcially with the log burner alight! Well situated in a quiet village and close to the Dales. Don't miss nearby Bolton Castle or Aysgarth Falls.

Really enjoyable stay. The cottage was perfectly kitted out and was very clean.

I would not hesitate in recommending it to anyone wishing to visit the area.

Perfect hideaway for a break. Clean, comfortable, characterful; highly recommended.

  • 5 of 5

Six of us had a great short break; we were wanting for nothing in the cottage and it added a great deal to our time away.

Peaceful and secluded pretty much everything you could need

  • 4 of 5

The cottage was gorgeous. Everything we needed. Furniture was a little uncomfortable for our old achey bones after a days hiking but still an awesome place to stay and we will definately be back

Enjoyed our stay

  • 3 of 5

The location of the cottage is excellent. The condition is ok, though I think it would benefit from updating in some respects. It was perfectly clean and had all the facilities we required except wifi which I would have thought was a basic requirement nowadays.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your feedback. We always respond to our guests suggestions and have just got 2 new chairs for the living area and some fresh crockery. We prefer not to have wifi at the cottage and 4G and mobile signal is available in the village. Also the village pub has wifi, as does the whole of the nearby town of Leyburn - so I do log on if I need to when we are out and about.

Lovely little cottage

  • 5 of 5

Mobile signal is not that great in the area & cottage doesn't have wifi, if you don't require either this cottage is perfect.

Owner's Response: Some mobile phone companies work in cottage (I have Vodaphone and its fine) other Mobile signal is better if you walk up Moor road. Also free wifi in pub and throughout Leyburn town.
