Log Cabin on outskirts of village with facilities

Mere Lodge is built on the edge of the lovely village of Hanley Swan, where it overlooks fields on two sides, and towards the Malvern Hills. It is at the end of a rural roadway so there is no passing traffic, although footpaths and a bridleway run alongside. Parking is immediately adjacent to the lodge, which is built of solid logs, has a grass roof, and a charming open entrance porch with disabled access. Very close to the Three Counties Showground, Malvern, it is an ideal place for a quiet retreat, for walking or cycling, or for visiting many places nearby; Worcester, Ledbury, Hereford, Cheltenham, Gloucester, Evesham, Pershore, Stratford etc.

About L. Scott

Mere Lodge was built in 2009, the result of an ambition of mine to own a holiday home in the Malvern area. Having been in the property business for many years, I was keen to embark on a new-build which would be the product of my own experiences in spatial planning and design, and to build a comfortable, convenient and attractive cottage with a definite "holiday feel" about it. A timber lodge seemed to fit the bill, now constructed on a very small site but with a stunning view in a really rural location, but not at all isolated.

Most guests appreciate the nature of the building, the running of which I oversee personally together with a small team of helpers.

Notes on accommodation: Accommodation is all on one level; solid wooden floors throughout; internal walls solid timber; eco friendly lighting; plentiful supply of hot water via the latest pressurized system; heating is by fixed electric convector heaters plus supplementary heating when required. Outside: The lodge is surrounded mostly with stone drive, for parking, together with a large west-facing patio looking over fields towards the Malvern Hills. There is no passing traffic other than walkers and horse-riders. Wooden patio furniture, 4 Chairs with table plus large umbrella. Mobile barbecue supplied if requested. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Cleaning and laundry included in the rental cost; all bathroom and kitchen linen provided for 4 persons, and all bedding; changed on vacation of property, or after one week.

Booking Notes:
All enquiries to be directed to owner, through whom all bookings are made personally, by phone; a deposit of 50% of rental due for confirmation, the balance due one month prior to occupation, when directions of how to reach the lodge are provided. Availability can be viewed on this site.

Changeover Day:
Normal changeover day is Sunday, sometimes Saturday, however, lets are often available for shorter or longer periods upon negotiation.

Notes on prices:
Rates for specific dates are available in the pricing section; for information on periods other than complete weeks please apply direct to owner, also for availability.
But generally are as follows;
£280 per week, in March, November and December
£360 per week, in April, May, June, September and October
£440 per week, in July and August, Easter
£450 minimum one week let over Christmas & New Year 2015/16
Minimum charge £240.00 per stay

A deposit of 50% is required upon booking, which will confirm the dates you require. The balance is due one calendar month prior to arrival.
Payment can be by cheque or bank transfer only

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund if canceled at least 7 days before arrival date.
  • 100% refund if canceled at least 14 days before arrival date.
