Immersed amongst the olive groves, only a 3 kilometres from the walled centre of Lucca, and 15 kilometres from the famous beaches of Versilia, Villa La Carciofaia, has been recently carefully restored by the proprietor. The property is built in stone and plaster and is located at the very top of a hill which offers unique views of the town at your feets. The property is surrounded by a big park, typical of the Mediterranean followers and marquis, allowing its guests to enjoy the various kinds of perfumes and colours and there is also a beautiful large swimming pool furnished with deck chairs and sunbeds each one with its own beach towel and head cushion.
In April 2015, British actor Jeremy Irons stayed here for a week. See his photo with me in the photo chart!

Hallo everyone! My name is SONIA and I am from Lucca. I run my Lucca Holiday Rentals company that offers exceptional apartments in the heart of Lucca. My goal is to help you fall in love with Lucca – to discover, explore, taste and savor new sights and experiences in this incredible city.
My company began almost 10 years ago when I started to rent my family villa after my parents moved to the mountains when they got retired. I spent there my entire childhood and I grew up there in deep contact with the nature and the history. My father thaught me everything about the birds and the antique trees and flowers of the villa and the smell of the sizzling pans used to wake me up each Sunday morning after my mum started to cook! I was fascinated by her when she was telling me the history of the villa in the past century. I thought this kind of feelings are too precious to let them go so then I had the idea to share my love of Lucca and “la dolce Vita” by finding beautiful apartments , villas and farmhouses in my favorite Lucca neighborhoods among my family members properties. Lucca Holiday Rentals started out as a boutique family company and now there are over 15 people working together. We are a friendly and enthusiastic team who will assist you every step of the way, from your first enquiry to your arrival in Lucca.
Mrs Sonia purchased this farmhouse in 2013

After a long tiring day of travel we arrived at this beautiful villa overlooking the Tuscan hills. The smells of the oleander, the constant singing of the birds, the seduction of a beautiful pool and the beautiful summer breeze only added to the luxury we felt wrap itself around us. The biggest downfall of this setting was having to leave to go sightseeing. We arranged to have an entertaining 4 hour cooking class nearby and this is highly recommended. We splurged and had a dinner party catered along with music provided by a local guitarist- a wonderful idea! Very often we heard sighs echo around us, but these were not sighs of tension or aggravation BUT the sighs of contentment, refreshment and rejuvenation. When you hear that on your vacation, you know you have made a wise choice. Villa Carciofaia is such a choice and Sonia and the on-site staff were there to cater to your whims. Wonderful vacation!
What an amazing week! The villa is even more beautiful than it appears in the website photos. It is spacious, extremely comfortable and well-maintained, there is truly nothing lacking. Mrs. Cristina and her daughter made sure that we all found our way to the villa safe and sound. Regula was an amazing host and brought us prosecco poolside on our first afternoon! Janaka and Mabel keep the house and property impeccably maintained and were unobtrusive but always available if needed. We used the dining terrace and pool every day. The location was perfect for day trips to the Cinque Terre, Florence, Viareggio and Pisa (and, of course, visits to Lucca). My only regret is that our stay wasn't longer! I hope to return in the future!
This property had a visual treat every place your eyes landed. Perfectly located for visiting the cities of Florence, Pisa, Lucca and Cinque Terre, but more importantly for our family of 8 adults and 2 children, a welcome retreat at the end of a touring day. The pool, the sunset seating, the clean, well appointed, spacious apartments far exceeded our expectations. We hope to return to Villa Carciofaia soon.
The villa was amazing. The views and the architectural detail was nothing short of breathtaking! Sonia took care of everything, and after a magical day of exploring the hill towns, we arrived home to the villa just in time for a glass of wine under the stars, and a heart warming, home-cooked meal right at our very own villa table. Italy shouldn’t be traveled any other way! We love Lucca!
We celebrated out 30th anniversary (Dec. 15th) with family & friends at Villa Carciofaia. Upon arrival, Dec. 12th) we were greeted w/drinks, appetizers and a wonderful tuscan dinner. The villa is something out of a story book---attention to detail in every room! Claudia surprised us w/homemade pastries, cakes and ice cream! Of course, there was plenty of wine! While we were there, we had a pizza party and a chef came in to teach us how to cook a tuscan meal! Never had so much fun in my life---we laughed and sang while preparing our meals! On our last day, Mrs Sonia and her sister Claudia and family presented each family with a duck---their symbol! The next morning we left very early and Sonia and Claudia were there to send us off! Of course, we all had tears in our eyes when saying good-by! Such a beautiful family and memories we'll never forget! This experience will be remembered the rest of our lives!
Our 2015 Thanksgiving visit to Villa Carciofaia was truly an authentic experience. We joined eight friends, two of whom had visited the Villa twice before. Not only were the accommodations lovely, but we felt as though we were an integral part of the Tuscan experience. The view of the valley from Villa Carciofaia was awesome. Everyday there was something new to discover. Our only regret was that we did not stay longer.-
