Beach Retreat is a chalet-style beach house, a comfortable and cosy place to unwind. All-round views of seaside and countryside. Relax in a deckchair on the raised decking or in the private beach garden; stroll along the beach to Whitstable with its boutiques, restaurants and busy fishing harbour. Ideal for walkers and birdwatchers, with the Saxon Shore Way and Oare Marshes Reserve close by. The cathedral city of Canterbury is just a short drive away.
I love to escape the bustle of everyday life and spend time by the sea. I live just a few miles from Beach Retreat so I'm always on hand to offer my guests any assistance they need or provide local information! For direct bookings please email me, firstname.lastname@example.org.
Melinda Barry purchased this chalet in 2010
Beach Retreat is my dream house by the sea which I bought a few years ago. It's my pleasure to make it available to my guests, many of them regulars, who love this spot as much as I do. All rental income has been put into improving the property, most recently with the addition of the gorgeous blue painted Kentish weatherboard (and a cosy layer of insulation under that!)
Beach Retreat is remote and peaceful, yet not isolated. Convenient shops in the village of Seasalter are within walking distance; Whitstable with its working harbour, boutique shops and restaurants is 5 minutes drive, or a pleasant 45 minute walk around the bay. Birdwatchers need hardly leave the house, just wait for the seabirds to arrive at low tide! But Swale Nature Reserve is just down the beach, and Oare Marshes Reserve, with trails and hides for birdwatchers, is a few miles away near Faversham. For a unique local gourmet experience, try The Sportsman down the road - but you will need to book in advance!
"Silence, Solitude and Sunsets – Magical"
“It was the perfect blissful escape from the hustle and bustle of London.”
"We are in love!! The Beach Retreat is magical and has everything you need. We had a mix of weather with very little sunshine and we enjoyed every minute. On days out I was homesick for the Beach Retreat. We can’t wait to return.”
This was exactly what we wanted - a perfect location for some peace and quiet. The property was perfect - all the facilities you need and great central heating given the cold weather - and a very comfortable bed. All set with a wonderful outlook. We had a gentle stroll along the beach into Whitstable and in the evening had a fire in the garden/beach - marshmallows at their finest. Local Fish & Chips were very nice too. I would certainly look to go back again. Communication from Melinda was excellent - thank you
Wonderful few days at 'Beach Retreat' in peaceful location, with plenty of birds for company. Ever changing view right outside the door. Inside lovey and cosy with very comfy bed! Our first stay but definitely not our last.
The property was well maintained and clean. We had 2 good nights sleep in the comfy bed and woke up to amazing views. We spent a day in nearby Whitstible which was only 9mins in the car to get to. It was nice being situated away from the hustle and bustle of the harbour. The beach was amazingly quiet as it is near other owned beach houses or residential properties. Great place to relax and take a break but close enough to access the shops and restaurants in town. We will be going back for sure- maybe for a week next time.
Just got back from a weekend break at the beach retreat.
the place is just amazing beautiful and quite and we will be going back again very soon.
The beach retreat was everything we could have hoped for from a 'live in beach hut' and more.
The property is tastefully decorated, in excellent condition and a high standard of cleanliness throughout with a well equipped kitchen for all your catering needs.
If you are looking for a complete getaway from the hustle and bustle of busy life, look no further. BBQs on the beach garden, panoramic sea views, breathtaking sunsets and sun rises, and an abundance of wading birds to study at low tide. All of which added up to a blissful peaceful break. Book it!
We came to Beach Retreat for our anniversary and it was the perfect place to go to. Really nice, clean property that was just right for the two of us. It had everything we needed and was beautifully decorated. The garden overlooking the beach is lovely, and was great to walk along. Very relaxing!
A little too far out if you wanted to be near Whitstable town centre, but it's a lovely walk along the beach and has a couple of places to stop on the way (highly recommend the Rose in Bloom).
Would definitely recommend to friends and family, and would consider going back again!
