What an amazing property. It is beautiful, tastefully decorated and has the ambience to match. The staff are simply wonderful - friendly, helpful, charming and go above and beyond to make your stay fantastic! From the first moment we booked Laura was quick to respond and answered all my questions and helped us with visa letters and pointing us in the right direction. on arrival everything ran super smoothly and we were welcomed to the property with open arms. The location was perfect - in a friendly neighbourhood with an easy walk to all the attractions and everything that this beautiful city has to offer (it is also easy to find - a REAL bonus). The meals cooked for us were sublime and the breakfasts were lovely - eaten on the terrace in the warm sunshine. Cannot fault this property at all - BOOK NOW!
Our stay at Riad Romm’an was amazing. The Riad was tastefully decorated with all the comforts to make our stay memorable. Maoud and Zhara were wonderful hosts. They took care of us, preparing delicious meals, booking dinner reservations, arranging day excursions outside the city and scheduling treatments at the hamman. We would definitely recommend Riad Romm’an to anyone visiting Marrakech.
Riad Romm’an is a gorgeous oasis in the midst of this bustling, chaotic, vibrant city. Every room is as beautiful as the photos led us to believe it would be - and more so! We enjoyed every second of our stay here and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it. We felt very well cared for by the staff who bent over backwards to accommodate our every need and desire. Riad Romm'an plays a huge part in the wonderful memories we take with us from Marrakech! Thank you!
A relaxing oasis in the middle of the hectic Medina
We are a family of five (children aged 15, 12 and 11) who stayed at Riad Romm'an for four days in July 2018. After a cab ride that took us in and out of the Medina, we arrived on the small street and despite having seen the pictures online, we were not quite sure what to expect.
I have to say that it was even better in real life. The house is simply gorgeous. Every room is absolutely perfect and decorated with impeccable taste. We mostly enjoyed the terrace with its refreshing plunge pool and numerous seating areas. We listened to the call to prayer while taking a break from the heat of Marrakech. We ate every delicious breakfast prepared by Zahra upstairs. The three bedrooms are spacious and comfortable and open up to the beautiful courtyard; they each have their own bathrooms.
We did a lot in Marrakech: visited the Saadian tombs, the Bahia Palace, El Badii Palace, the jewish cemetery and synagogue, the Jardins Majorelle, Berber museum and YSL museum, the Djemaa El Fna place (with delicious fruit juices), and of course, we got lost in the small streets of the Medina (yes, there will be a guy or two or three who will bring you to the spice market "only open today" or point you in the wrong direction... it's part of the trip). When we needed a break from all the noise and energy of the Medina, we retreated back to "our" Riad with pleasure. Abdul made sure that we got everything we needed (he lives on the ground floor and is very discreet).
We loved this place and would like to go back soon (need more vacation time!). It was really a wonderful oasis!
Superb RIAD - bad location
We stayed at Riad Romm'an for three days in early June of 2018. We are a family of three person. As other comments mentionned the RIAD is impeccaple, extremely well decorated, very very confortable, and with a lot of space. The terrasse is set for relaxing. For this part, the RIAD is definitely a 5 stars (and a six stars, if it was possible).
The location of the RIAD Romm'an is the negative side of the story. It is located in the Medina in a very poor neighborhood. It is located on a very small street, taxis are not able to reach the street. As we are a family loving to walk, we felt not secure to go out after supper . It is very easy to get lost in the Medina, and when you ask for directions, you get caught with locals who tries to sell you (harrass) their guiding skills.
The RIAD is located directly on the street, and it was very noisy at night, with kids and families talking loud up to 1 a.m. The RIAD is also located very near a little mosque, it is usual to ear the call in all Morroco, as there are mosque everwhere. But being within a distance of 30 meters, you can also ear the entire prior.
In summary an extraordinary house with all you can think about, but a difficult location.
many thanks for your kind review of Riad Romm'an. We are glad you enjoyed your stay and that you found our Riad 'impeccable'. However, we are very disappointed that you felt it necessary to criticise the location and think that your justification is very unfair. All Riad's are by their nature within the historical Medina of Marrakech and therefore within the poorer/older part of the city with small pedestrian only streets and without car/taxi access. This is the character of the Medina and really the main part of its charm and why people visit it. This is true for Riad's in general in Marrakech. The entire Medina is a maze of small streets, there is no avoiding this. Furthermore, the immediate neighbourhood of Riad Romm'an is not particularly poor by Marrakech standards and is safer and more accessible than most, plus all the neighbourhoods of the Medina have their own Mosques, so you are never far from one. We are sorry that you did not feel secure to go out for supper. There is really no reason for this as if you felt uncomfortable finding your own way to and from the Riad, Abdul is always available to walk you to wherever you wish to go and also to meet you and bring you home, if necessary. Be assured, crime in Morocco and within the Medina itself is very low and it is often the perception which causes greater fear than the reality. It is clear from the information about the Riad that it is within the Medina, therefore we consider it is an unfair criticism of the property on this basis as you would be comparing it to a villa in a hotel complex or gated community, which it clearly is not. Generally people who visit Marrakech and stay in a Riad understand this, which is the reason they want to stay in an authentic building and neighbourhood. We hope you will reconsider your review and the rating you have given and hope to welcome you again to Marrakech if you should ever wish to return. Regards Laura
