Longbow Barns is an ancient dwelling overlooking the countryside, the Dartmouth Estuary and out to sea. Today, the converted accommodation offers two charming and spacious apartments with modern facilities sleeping four and six people. These can be rented separately or combined to sleep up to ten. We are adjacent to the grounds of The Britannia Royal Naval College, half way up College Way and just a short walk into the harbour town of Dartmouth.
It is known that a farm existed on the site of Longbow Barns from Saxon times, which was listed in the Domesday Book. It is believed that the "Lord of Norton" occupied the farm in Norman times when it was the centre of the Townstal community as the water margins were still at risk from Viking raids. According to English Heritage the mediaeval barns were altered in Elizabethan times and the site remained a working farm until 1974. Longbow Barns is a wonderful location from which to explore the South Hams and all that Devon has to offer.
Our names are Ray and Jan Lynch and I (Ray) first saw Longbow Barns in 2002 when visiting the area. I was born in the nearby historic trading town of Totnes, and have always felt the pull of The South Hams area and remembered how much warmer it is there. Having retired from engineering I had to find another project and what better one could there be but to establish a holiday home near the place of my birth.
Jan is from the Midlands and had always looked at the Devon area as a beautiful county to visit. When she first saw Longbow, she knew straight away that it was a special place and fell in love with it. Fourteen years on, we still feel the same and enjoy maintaining the barn and sharing it with like minded guests looking for a home from home. We love it and hope you do too.

It is a pleasure maintaining this traditionally built dwelling with it's ancient stone pillars and oak beams. The grounds are still the same as generations before and the view out to sea is the same as it was hundreds of years ago.
