We are a married couple with 4 children. We purchased the cottage 26 years ago as a place to holiday with our children. My husband is an architect so we have slowly renovated the cottage. We have enjoyed many happy family holidays here are still visiting looking forward to our weeks in St Ives. We hope you will stay in the town and enjoy the sights, smells and sounds of this wonderful place.

We fell in love with St Ives and decided to make a second home there for my 4 children. We arrived unpacked and they went off on their own to the shops and beach as it seemed to them to be a big playground! We love the town and community and feel a sense of safety and security. The position of the cottage was perfect for popping in and out, we could even change beaches according to which way the wind blew.

What makes this house unique

The cottage is light, relaxing and convenient for any activity.

The cottage is equipped with WiFi so great if you need to connect with the outside world and work commitments. It is perfect for family holidays, romantic weekends, girlie getaways or just for a few days of peace and quiet.

Beautiful cottage,gorgeous views,peaceful position

We loved our week at this beautiful ,homely cottage. Peaceful position but only minutes walking to the main amenities of St Ives.

As for the view..... Absolutely stunning! We woke every morning,amazed by it.

Plenty of lovely restaurants nearby, we liked the Seafood Cafe and can recommend the coffees at the Cafe Pasta, especially enjoyed sitting on the bench outside,looking at the harbour. Beautiful beaches,great for just a swim or for bodyboarding. Minack theatre is beautiful and worth a visit.

We will definitely return to Admirel Cottage, on our own and with family ,it's ideal for both.

lovely harbour view

We all loved Admiral Cottage. It is completely central and yet perfectly tucked away and very quiet at night. The view over rooftops to the harbour is gorgeous and means you never feel cut off from the sea. It's well and stylishly furnished. We all liked getting back there after a day on the beach and it really felt like home. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is the access by steep steps which is fine for most people but a bit of a challenge with a buggy. We wished we'd booked two weeks instead of one.

Good for a short break

I've been to St Ives a few times. This place really shines if you've got kids or you just want to be very central. It's hidden just off the Main Street so has a bit of seclusion but really easy to get everywhere.

Property was clean and well maintained. Didn't really have much contact with the owner but they seemed nice. There is a good restaurant called the seafarer just below the steps leading to this house. I would really recommend that too.

All in all would definitely recommend. One of the best places I've stayed in St Ives.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review, our location and views are why we bought it 25 years ago. It is just off Fore Street but tucked away, so is very central but a little oasis from the business of the main road and harbour. I hope you return to us soon.

Winter Break

We came down to St Ives for a relaxing winter break. Admiral Cottage ticked all the boxes for us - right in the middle of the town with easy access to shops and restaurants but tucked away and really quiet in February. We parked in a long-stay car park a few minutes walk up the hill, which involved a long flight of steps - it was fine on arrival, but it would have been better to pack smaller loads than one big suitcase, for the return journey.

The cold winds made us very glad of the central heating which kept the cottage cosy, and being able to watch over the sunlit harbour with a hot drink and knees against the radiator was the best way to warm up after a bracing walk! The cottage is very well equipped and comfortable, and feels light and airy.

St Ives had plenty going on even in February; we looked round many art galleries, including the Tate, and there was a big choice of restaurants. We found the perfect place to eat every night at the bottom of the steps, in Fore Street - the Seafood Cafe - and a few paces away from it the Allotment Deli provided us with fresh bread, fruit and delicious cakes. There were lots of fashion and jewelry shops, two childrenswear shops and a great little bookshop, with a Coop about 10 minutes walk for general groceries. In all, St Ives and Admiral Cottage made a great winter break for us.

Stunning!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Admiral Cottage. We have three young kids (8,6,4) who loved every minute. The cottage has been refurbished to a high standard, with lots of thoughtful details to make it a pleasant place to be on a rainy day. It also has excellent access to St. Ives and the Harbour. But I think what we loved the most was the beautiful views from the flat of the Harbour and the ocean. I never got tired of looking out the window. Highly recommended.

Comfortable Cottage

The view of the harbour from the lounge is absolutely lovely. My family and I really enjoyed our week here, it was an excellent location for us as central in the town but also hidden from the main streets. The house is well maintained, modern and was very clean on arrival! Very impressed, thank you!

Special interest holidays:

St Ives is famous for its quality of light which produced a world class art movement. Its blue flag beaches, Porthmeor renowned for surfing, Porthminster renowned for swimming, the harbour for fishing and sunbathing, Porthgwidden for young families. The wonderful cafe culture and excellent food, and the whole ambiance of this quaint pretty Cornish town.

Coast/Beach:

In less than 1 minute you can walk from the cottage to the sea side.

Travel:

Newquay airport is 40 minutes drive from St Ives.

There are several good train routes to Penzance or St Erth the latter being 10 minutes drive from the town the former being 10 minutes.

A30 road links with the M5 at Exeter.

Distances:

We are at the centre, in the heart of St Ives, so all you need to have a restful, relaxing holiday is at hand.

Parking is nearby in public car parks, Barnoon is the nearest long stay, there are also short stay car parks nearby. Or you may be able to find on street parking, ask me for other options.

Further Details:

As the cottage is central in St Ives, it is only a short walk to the shops, cafes or supermarket.

The cottage sleeps a maximum of 6, 2 - 4 adults and children.

The cottage may not be suitable for certain folk, as the approach is up steps.

Notes:
Notes on accommodation: Our goal is to share our beautiful family bolt hole with other folk. It is a much loved holiday cottage and my children have grown up with this place becoming a large part of their lives and memories. We hope you will feel the same way and fall in love with St Ives just like us. We enjoy the beaches, walks to Zennor and Lelant, visiting the art galleries and generally chilling and enjoying the superb cafes and restaurants. We only allow pets with prior consultation. The cottage sleeps a maximum of 4 adults and 2 children. Outside: At the front of the cottage is a garden which you can enjoy. Also at the rear of the cottage is a courtyard or drying area. Our neighbours have a right of access across the gardens to get to their properties. Utility Room: The utility room is in a separate annex with a washing machine, cube freezer, hot water cylinder and boiler. There is an indoor drying area (when used the window must be left ajar). There are gull proof refuse and recycling bags for Friday's collection. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: We let with all beds made up and towels provided. Gas and electric are included in the cost and we have a key safe so you can arrive whenever suits you, and start your holiday straight away. Other: The cottage was bought over 20 years ago for our family, solely on position. We have since renovated the cottage and it is now a hidden gem in the centre of St Ives. It is light has stunning views and is very calming and relaxing.
