Perfect, best of both worlds.

The cottage is just of the main street in Langport with easy access to takeaways and Tesco, etc. We usually go for cottages that are quite isolated to allow for dog walks but then you have to use the car to get any supplies, food etc. But here at Wren Cottage, we could go for walks and still collect our dinner, etc. Gay and Stephen are very friendly and booking was straightforward. We loved being able to get to the Levels allowing us great walks with our dog, off lead. The cottage is well equipped, clean and comfortable. Gay provided some essentials on arrival, milk, bread, etc. and the flowers on the table were a lovely touch. Clarks Village is nearby if you want to do some serious shopping. I have added it to my revisit list and would recommend it others. Thank you Gay and Stephen, we will be back.

Owner's Response: Thank you for a lovely review - we are so glad you enjoyed your stay. It was a pleasure meeting you both and your little dog and thank you for being such excellent guests. I'm sorry we were away for much of your visit, but hope to see you again soon. Many thanks again. Best wishes - Gay & Steve

ANOTHER comfortable break away at Wren Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Kind of lost count now with how many visits we've had to Gay and Steve's 'Wren Cottage' in Langport.

As usual, there was the same lovely warm welcome, wine, bread, butter and flowers. Everywhere clean, tidy and freshly painted to a very high standard.

Although the cottage is 'pet friendly', there is no evidence of any of the doggy guests at all. 😊

As I've said before, very central to all Langport's local and abundant amenities. Lots of great places to visit on the 'Levels' and further afield.

We'll be booking again for our pre-autumn trip south.

Beautiful Cottage.. Perfect Getaway !

  • 5 of 5

Just arrived home from our stay at Wren Cottage, already we are tempted to book in again. We arrived late in the evening but had a warm friendly welcome from Gay, gave us a tour of the cottage and the easy access to the private gate to the River Parrett and huge fields that my dog adored running free in. We really cannot rate this cottage highly enough!! Fresh bread, Butter, Wine and Flowers was a lovely welcome gift and made us feel right at home. We ventured out to the local Cider Orchards, Somerton, Cheddar Gorge, Clarks Shopping Village & many more places! Thank you so much for a wonderful stay! Victoria, Andy and Holly Dog.

Its main street, built on an ancient Roman causeway, is lined with small independent shops and cafés. The River Parrett meanders gently around the edge of the town providing miles of scenic riverside for walking, cycling and fishing. Langport has a wide choice of restaurants - The Langport Arms, dating back to the Civil War, with an excellent carvery and bar snacks; the Thai Mango restaurant at Bow Wharf for delicious authentic Thai food; Cardamom, a very good curry house, Rumours tapas & wine bar and La Roche for really great steaks! There are plenty of places to visit in the surrounding area including Somerton, the ancient capital of Wessex with its medieval market square, the 14th century Benedictine abbey at Muchelney, Glastonbury's famous tor and abbey and the lovely little city of Wells with its magnificent cathedral.
