Our 4 bedroom farmhouse & three 1 bedroom cottages at La Bournais have use of our heated swimming pool, and are situated within walking distance of the village of Jugon-Les-Lacs, popular with holidaymakers for its beautiful lake, with the heated, lakeside pool, fishing, cycling, walking, sailing (boats can be hired), water-sports, and a lovely quaint village center with restaurants, banks, bakeries, butcher, supermarket, tabac and pharmacy. We are situated close to the spectacular Northern Brittany Coast with several coastal resorts with beautiful white sandy beaches only a short drive away. At La Bournais, we offer a detached 4 bedroom farmhouse, or one of our three cottages, each with 1 bedroom, sitting room / kitchen, bathroom and private terrace with BBQ overlooking the gardens and our own fields. We also offer Bed & Breakfast on a nightly basis with breakfast being taken in your own cottage. All have use of our heated swimming pool, games room(table tennis etc) and boules pitch.
Paul moved to La Bournais from the UK, and we are enhancing the already great facilities at our Farmhouse & Cottages, which have been run as very popular holiday accommodation for the past 20 years, by Pam and Gary, the previous owners.
Paul runs his main business (established 25 years) - Algarve Villa Rentals - from La Bournais, and fully understands what is needed to run a successful rental business
I am a keen walker and cyclist, We will be on hand, but not intrusive, to offer advice and information to make your stay with us as enjoyable as possible.
Paul Killeen purchased this farmhouse in 2012
I decided to look for a property in France in 2012 to expand our already successful holiday rental business in Portugal.
We knew that we could apply the same principals to a French property as we have done in The Algarve for the past 25 Years.
As soon as we saw 'La Bournais' we knew that this was the property we could put our stamp on. The location is perfect; minutes to a thriving village, under an hour from airports & ferry ports and under 30 minutes to the nearest beaches.
With the addition of a heated pool in 2013, we feel that we can offer a truly complete French holiday experience.
Whilst staying at La Bournais, there is so much to do; In the village we have sailing, rowing, swimming & fishing. On our doorstep you can go hiking or cycle one of the many, purpose built mountain bike trails in the area.
We can also offer dropoff / pickup for your days hiking / cycling.
Fantastic stay, we will definitely be back for more and looking forward to the addition of your new pool for 2013. Many thanks Dave and Sheila Lea.
Lovely accommodation, lovely village, wonderful time! Ron & Jean McDonald
Paul, we would like to thank you for our fantastic holiday at La Bournais. The woodpecker cottage was all that we needed, and your new swimming pool and decking area was a delight. We spent a lot of our time relaxing by the pool.
We have recommended you to several of our friends who no doubt will be booking, and we will also be back soon.
Once again, thank you.
Mr N O'Neill
Dear Paul & Michelle
Just a note to thank you for looking after us so well when we stayed in your Farmhouse at La Bournais.
We found your new swimming pool to be great, and the gardens and other facilities were a big plus for us.
The two lakes at Jugon were great, and we enjoyed the sailing, and the local beach resorts we visited were fantastic. Regards
Geoff and Clare Hill
We all had a very enjoyable time and the children loved the pool. Paul, the
owner kindly supplied us with two z beds which solved the sleeping
arrangements. We also enjoyed the garden but there was one suggestion
that I would make and that would be purring some tiles or slates out to
and under the outside dining table and also a tiled path to the pool which
would mean that the less tough-footed ones wouldn't need to put shoes on
before going to the garden or pool .
We took it in turns to do the morning croissant walk to Jugon which was fun .
The property is really well located to access the beautiful coast, close to amenities and places of interest.
The local village Jugon-les-Lacs is a 5 minute drive or 20 minute walk and there is a bakery, several bars and restaurants and the lake which has various activities. Further a field is the stunning town of Dinan and would recommend to anyone to pay a visit to Dinan port as well as the walled town. St Malo is also a must see and the beaches close to St Cast - le - guildo were perfect. We stayed for a week and only scratched the surface of the area and will definitely be back As there is so much to explore.
The property itself is really well equipped and has comfortable accommodation. Myself and my husband travelled with 3 young children and my parents and were impressed with the room sizes, we didn't feel as though we were on top of each other and there are plenty of bathrooms for when everyone is getting ready at the same time! My only criticism of the house was that the fridge was a bit small given the size of property, we did struggle with space fitting all the food in whilst keeping beer and wine chilled, but it wasn't a major issue. The pool was brilliant and the gardens great, the children loved being at the house and often would moan when we took them out as there were very happy running around the gardens and in the pool. We definitely plan to pay a return visit, hopefully next year, and would stay for two weeks rather than one.
We found La Bournias Farmhouse very comfortable and well set up. The 4 bedroom house catered for 8 of us, Dad & Mum and Daughter with Son, his Wife & 3 kids under 7 years of age.
It is surrounded by beautiful gardens and heated pool with butterflies & birds always around, sun chairs to lounge in and bake in the sun or sit in the shade, whichever takes your fancy.
It is so quiet and peaceful there yet so conveniently located to the high points of interest of Brittany and the lovely village of Jugon les Lacs where you have all the conveniences that you could ask for - Bank ATM, Petrol, Convenience store/s, Restaurants, and more.
In summary it was a great place to stay, convenient for travelling, and we had a great family holiday.
We stayed in the farmhouse as 6 adults of varying ages. The property is lovely - spacious, comfortable and very well-equipped.The pool is a real bonus, big enough to swim in and warmer than the one at our local leisure centre! A lot of thought has gone into the planning of the facilities, with attention to little details such as bike racks, a white board for keeping score in the games room and a wide range of kitchen equipment. There's plenty of outside space with garden furniture placed in different locations to provide peace and privacy. Not that peace is in short supply - the location is very quiet with no noise but birdsong. The village is 30 minutes walk away (or a short bike ride) but it does involve a long hill on the way back. Fortunately that wasn't a problem for us, but it's worth bearing in mind. You will need a car if you're going to stay here, unless you really do intend to kick back and chill for the entire stay (and why not?!). I can recommend a visit to Dinan, it's very pretty and less touristy than San Malo.
This was probably the nicest holiday home that we have stayed at. A lovely clean place with all mod cons. Paul we very friendly and ensured that we had everything we needed. I have already recommended La Bournais to a friend.
Only one little point that would make everything perfect is to have the kitchen knives sharpened, but if that was our biggest problem you can see how good La Bournais Farmhouse is.
La Bornais is in a lovely peaceful location on the edge of Jugon les Lacs. The cottage we stayed in was delightful - simply decorated, perfectly clean and well equipped. The grounds - not garden, grounds! - are well maintained and very private. We particularly enjoyed the heated pool - again, immaculately maintained in a very safe decked area. The owner, who lives on site, was very friendly and gave good advice when asked, without being at all intrusive. We enjoyed our stay enormously as a couple, but I would think families would have a fantastic stay too - as well as the pool, there is plenty of room for games - football, rounders etc,, equipment is available for badminton and boules, and there is a pool table and dartboard. We were made very welcome at the Bar dec Lacs in the town ( a 2k walk from La Bornais), and the French restaurant in the square served delicious food. You should try to complete the circular walk around the lake, taking the challenge of beating the 4hrs 15mins indicated on the direction signs! We did 2hrs 55! Overall, a great week's holiday, to be repeated!
