About Nick Sampson

I was Born in the South of the country but have lived in Norfolk for 30 years. I love the big beautiful Norfolk skies and the golden sandy beaches, may be some of the best in the world! The lovely countryside & waterways of the Norfolk Broads and the vibrant City of Norwich. My favourite past time is to sit and have lunch on a sunny summers day at a riverside pub and watch the world go by. Or for something more energetic, a cycle along the quiet country lanes.

A lovely relaxing holiday at a beautiful location

As a repeat booker, we knew what a beautiful location the holiday property is, nicely kept grounds overlooking a lovely beach, and it is within easy reach of the Broads and Great Yarmouth. We had our dog with us and the access to the beach is closeby for his daily walks. The Hickling property was clean and well equipped for our stay. A lovely relaxing holiday, and we will be returning.

Great beach holiday location

Wonderful location overlooking the lovely sandy beach with breath taking sea views from both the lounge and the patio outside. we were lucky enough to see a stunning sun rise on one morning whilst having an early breakfast. The accommodation is very well equipped with large flatscreen in lounge and also flatscreen in bedroom. Very comfortable and spotlessly clean. The owner Nick showed us in and was most helpful in explain about local places to eat and visit. A most enjoyable stay and we would certainly recommend a stay here, well be back again.

Norfolk`s best kept secret

We found this lovely little place after a friend stumbled across it earlier in the year. Stunning location next to super sandy beach and wonderful sea views from the accommodation, which was spotless on arrival and to a very high standard for a holiday chalet. The owner Nick was very helpful and gave a frindly welcome. Loved the area so close to the Broads, will definately be back.

Lovely holiday, great location.

Just returned from a stay with my husband, my mother and her dog. The site is lovely. Seven chalets surround well tended grounds on the cliff top overlooking Scratby beach. Its a beautiful setting. The sandy beach is five minutes down some nearby steps and is dog friendly. Ours was a smart, two bedroom chalet was lovely and clean and well equipped. Clever use of the space available, lots of hooks etc.. Some lovely touches too, there is a cabin with a washing machine, tumble dryer, ironing board etc... but also sun beds which can be used in the grounds. Village shops and California pub 10 mins stroll. Parking a bit tight, but so glad the owner chose to do this and keep the grounds rather than pave for parking. Can thoroughly recommend and would return again.

amazing views

We, family of 4, had a wonderful time - the accommodation is on the small side but perfectly formed and well equipped. The green between the bungalows is well looked after and a fence makes it safe for children to run around. The off-street parking is safe and hassle-free and Nick, the owner is friendly and very helpful. But the most amazing bit is the view - it's just breathtaking, and can be enjoyed from both indoors through enormous panoramic windows or outdoors. We particularly loved our alfresco meals.

Up-to-date information on local points of interest is provided, but it's very tempting to spend most of the time on the far-stretching sandy beach which is just on the doorstep.

Nice location - let down by accomodation

This is a lovely location but the accommodation lets it down. We paid for the 3 star so knew it would be basic but and to be honest it did for us for a week, however me and my husband had to sleep in seperate beds as the double was broken and of very cheap quality. He got the bunk bed and myself and my grandaughter slept in the broken bed. I had asked on the booking form for two double beds as I did not want our 2 year old to have the opportunity of climbing up bunk beds. On arrival - guess what - bunk beds. Too late to mess about changing when we are there!! The wardrobe doors did not shut proberly which caused an issue with our two year old g who kept walking into the open doors The bedding, although clean was very cheap, the toaster did not work but we managed with the grill. The owner did say he would have swapped it, if we had let him know.

The views and the setting is superb its just accommodation lets it down. We paid for basic and expected basic, however we did not expect to sleep in seperate beds and not be able to shut doors.

Would we rebook? Yes, but we would rather pay a little more if we were guaranteed a more comfortable stay. It is lovely to have the seclusion and quiet of the site but the experience could be a whole lot more with a little more attention to detail.

Owner's Response: I find this a review very unfair. There was no mention made of a broken bed all week, I discovered it on the Saturday as the guests vacated the property. I found the bed which was purchased four months ago broken in two after these guests had departed. If I had been told of a problem I could have mended the bed and avoided it being broken beyond repair. No mention was made of the wardrobe doors or the toaster being broken during their stay and on inspection both were fine. A more comfortable stay would have been easily achievable if only we had been told of the broken bed, I can only surmise why the guest did not tell us on their arrival! I endeavour to deal with all problems as soon as they are reported. We strive to keep the properties in tip top condition and pride ourselves on the high quality of fixtures, fittings and the maintenance to the properties and grounds. I personally see all guests into the accommodation on arrival making sure that everything is OK for them. No mention was made on arrival about doubles/bunks, the ladder on the bunk bed is also removable to stop children climbing. I note that the guest would like to book again, but perhaps not.
