About Elizabeth Tate

We moved here in June 2012 after running our own business in Northampton. We have loved this area so took the plunge and moved to start a new chapter in our lives.

Elizabeth Tate purchased this cottage in 2012

Why Elizabeth Tate chose Helston

We have holidayed here for 20+ years to to move here was a dream come true. This property became available and we saw the potential to be able to facilitate others to have wonderful holidays on The Lizard Peninsular. Cadgwith is such a pretty unspoilt village and to be able to pop down to this and all the other lovely coves whenever we like is wonderful. Our dogs certainly appreciate the walks.

Little Trethvas is off the beaten track but near to the road system on the Lizard to reach other places easily.

What makes this cottage unique

Little Trethvas is off the beaten track but near to the road system on the Lizard to reach other places easily. We have the Helford river with spectacular walks along hidden creeks or hire a boat for the day and sail up them. Every beach and cove is different with options to try something different.

The cottages have a real uniqueness about them and we will help in anyway we can for you to get the best out of your holiday as we live a few yards down the drive so you can knock on the door if you want information.

Cozy indeed, friendly indeed, unfortunately damp and some parts mouldy

  • 3 of 5

small campsite with some hens and ducks around, which can be touched by children; the flat was cozy but too damp to feel comfortable with all our clothes; you could smell some mould because this

we used an electric heated ventilator to dry some wet clothes like towels

refrigerator and gas cooker were in good condition;

water usage was wery good e.g. warm shower with enough warm water at any time with a lot of space in the shower

2 times a week (tuesday and thursday) burgers were offered between 5pm and 7:30pm, wich tasted very good

lizzy and mike were very friendly and helpful; we enjoyed our stay apart from the mould

Owner's Response: Just to say the cottage has lots of insulation but we are in an area with mostly 95% humidity and combine that with hot air re cooking and bathroom unless windows are left open a tad for ventilation we do have areas of moist air. we are 1/2 a mile from the sea so the air is laiden with water. we have also had a quite wet summer. The cottage is thorougly cleaned evry changeover day and we value of clients comfort immensly. Our cottage is rented out for the whole of Spring Summer and most of the Autumn and we rarely have anyone mention this. sorry you had this problem and we do have deumidifiers available if you had mentined it. We suffer ourselfs in the Farmhouse all year too. its one of the `blessings` of living near the sea.

Realy great location, but cottage needs some work.

  • 3 of 5

The location of this cottage is superb and we really enjoyed all the different walks that was possible from here. We had a great meal at Cadgwith Cove Inn with live folk music.

There is no log burner or BBQ. The description implies a small garden which in reality is a strip of grass between the cottage and the road into the site. The cottage does require some attention, the main problems were.

The draining board leaks into the cupboard below which is causing a damp smell. Had to leave all windows open constantly to clear the smell.

The extractor fan in the bathroom doesn't work and it was getting quite damp/mouldy.

The TV reception was intermittent as the TV aerial pole was broken.

The entrance and bedroom window were getting quite over grown.

Overall we did have a lovely break but the accomdation could do with some maintenance to bring it up to scratch.

Cosy Little Cottage

  • 3 of 5

We stayed here for a week. Excellent location close to the attractions of the coast path and the Lizard. Nicely decorated small converted outhouse. Comfortable double bed and lounge with good tv and new kitchen and bathroom. Very friendly owner with a no fuss approach to managing the site which is a camp site. The cottage is quite close to the site entrance so there are passing cars and motor homes. There is no private garden but easy access to the camp site. There is no wood burning stove as in the pictures but a fan heater which might disappoint. The cottage has no WiFi as stated in the facilities so do not expect to watch Netflix. The nearest WiFi is in their house and accessible only from the garden.

However we really enjoyed our visit helped by the sunny weather and the great location.

Great place!

  • 4 of 5

We had a great holiday. My daughter loved to watch the chickens coming in the morning singing and pecking on to our door.

The cottage is very well located. It has everything you need to relax and enjoy your time, it is very quiet. It has easy access to the beaches, shops and nice restaurants, tea/cake shops and pubs around. You can buy eggs just across the road and also buy fresh products such us jam, vegetables, milk and meat at the farm shop only 2 minutes by car from the cottage. I highly recommend this cottage.

Thank you for having us Elizabeth! Roberta, Chris and Charlotte xx

Cozy Cottage lives up to its name!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first winter visit to Mike and Liz's "Little Trethvas Farm", and also our first to Cozy Cottage. We already knew how lovely the grounds are in spring and summer, with so many wild flowers and garden blooms, but hadn't experienced winter here yet. What a surprise was in store! In spite of the February gales that hit the coast and the headlines, we had an amazing time and everything we needed for a perfect break for two. As usual, Mike and Liz gave us such a warm welcome; they have furnished and fitted out this intimately cosy little cottage with obvious flair for choosing the designs, colours and furnishings that combine the modern with the homely and cheerful. The new kitchen has quality equipment; we had all the heating and hot water we needed (lovely shower!) and the kingsize bed was very comfy. It was great to relax in cosy armchairs by the fire when the storms blew past; and when they stopped, a treat to enjoy the sunshine through the cottage's south-facing windows. I like the view of the grounds - just the right blend of landscaping and country fields. With the Lizard Point being such a short drive away, we were able to enjoy coast path walks and visit coves and bays during the sunny spells, of which - to our surprise - there were plenty. We hardly had time to watch TV! There is plenty of info in the cottage on places to visit, and if asked, Mike and Liz provide plenty more local information of all kinds. We will certainly come again to Cozy Cottage.

Special interest holidays:

The Lizard peninsular is a unique part of Cornwall. On one side is the rugged coastline will walks along dramatic cliffs and onto beautiful beaches such as Kynance, Poldhu and Gunwallowe. Amazing surfing, bodyboarding can be enjoyed on these beaches. Kayaking is available from Mullion Cove as is Coasteering.

Amazing sunsets looking down over mounts bay.

On the other of the peninsular side are little sheltered fishing villages such as Cadgwith and Coverack.

Gentler surf for families with small children is found here.

The roads are mostly level so road biking can be taken at a leisurely pace or off road biking across the Lizard and Goonhilly downs.

Horseriding is available 3 miles away with hacks down to the beach for a canter in the sea or a hack across the downs.

The scenery is to die for so photographers and artists will enjoy the Lizard.

You can walk to Kynance cove and Cadgwith and coast path from your front door and it will take 30-40 minutes. Both have a car park if you prefer to drive and takes 5 mins to reach.

The nearest airport is Newquay. 1 1/2 hours away by car. The nearest port is Falmouth, 40 minutes by car or Plymouth,2 1/2 hours by car.

A car is not essential but would recommend to enjoy all The Lizard Peninsular has to offer.

Local buses stop at the end of the lane and take you to Helston where you can get buses to Truro, Penzance, Falmouth, Newquay, St Ives to name a few

Cadgwith 2 miles, The Lizard 2 miles, Mullion 4 miles, Helston 8 miles, Helford river 6 miles, Falmouth 15 miles.

Further Details:
