Lovely cottage, good location,great pool!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in Yew farm cottage for 4 nights. It's a lovely comfortable property. Clean and well furnished with use of a superb indoor heated pool. One word of caution, the stairs are steep and winding so could be a problem for people with limited mobility. The owners who live next door were very helpful and sociable. We cannot recommend this property highly enough.

The house is so full of character but the stairs require care to negotiate, the sloping floors take a little getting used to but that is part of the charm. The log burner in the lounge really does the job and enough equipment in the kitchen to make cooking a meal easy if you want to, overall a perfect cottage in a perfect setting, wether you stay in or explore the surrounding countryside, the peace and quiet was noticeable, and we live in rural Devon. Pauline & Norman made us very welcome, and the use of the pool was a real delight. We do hope to return next year.

Beautiful cottage and gardens with the added bonus of the wonderful pool!

  • 4 of 5

The cottage was lovely but be warned if you are tall as there are some low beams, as my husband found out a few times! The pool was wonderful and it was difficult to persuade my 15 year old daughter to leave the cottage and pool to see some of the local area. You do need to drive as there isn't much to do on the doorstep, as you are in the middle of nowhere, and as such, mobile phone signal is not good and WiFi is also weak. Pauline and Norman were friendly and welcoming as were the kittens Bubble & Squeak and having the chicks wandering around just outside your front door was lovely.

We would certainly recommend this cottage for peace and quiet and as a "get away from it all" holiday, to recharge your batteries. Young children will love it for the outdoor space and the animals as well as the pool, older children will love the pool but may find the lack of mobile phone signal and weak WiFi an issue.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights (wished it was longer), the cottage was fabulous it has everything you could possibly need. The indoor swimming pool is excellent and heated too!, you can have it to yourself and even have music to listen to whilst you swim, with seperate showers for when you get out. Very tranquil and very private, lots of wild life, country walks great pubs, sights, shop/post office about a mile away sells everything! If you want total peace, then this is the place to be. Fiona (who was looking after the place whilst the owners were away) was lovely, really helpful, and kind, so much so we wanted to take her home with us :) Yew Tree Cottage is actually better than the pictures, there is a huge log fire with as many logs as you need, under floor heating, And central heating so if you go here in winter you will be very toasty. If you are taking the kids there are ample safe grounds for them to play in with soft friendly sheep, swings and games for them in the cottage too! All in all it is an exceptional place to stay and we will going back to hopefully stay longer, i would advise you book in advance as its very popular and now we know why. Thank You for a truly relaxing, wonderful heaven sent stay. Andy & Kerry x

A beautiful character cottage in a lovely village

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a short break at the cottage and had a fabulous time. The property has so much character and is well equipped with all the home comforts you would want, including a large wood burning stove. The owner, Pauline, is lovely and can help with any queries or advice on places to visit. The meal at the local pub was so good we returned for lunch on our last day! I would recommend this property and would not hesitate to book again if we stay in Suffolk.

About pauline cobley

We bought Yew Tree Cottage 4 years ago and it forms half the house in which we have lived since 1979. We have completely refurbished YTC to be a holiday home. We are semi retired and keep a small holding with sheep and chickens. Someone should be around most of the time to help with queries/directions etc.

pauline cobley purchased this cottage in 2012

What makes this cottage unique

Yew Tree Cottage is in a quiet rural location with

views over the meadow and farmland. The cottage is timber framed with many original features.

Guestbook comments from the owner

September 2014. Yew Tree Cottage was the ideal retreat to get away from everything! So peaceful and the Sunday lunch at the pub comes recommended. Thanks to Norman and Pauline for their hospitality and letting us use the pool for Annabelles first swim.

November 2014 It has been everything we hoped from a traditional farmhouse. We've walked through the lanes and fields directly from the door in a lovely part of the world. Hope to come again.

November 2014 Everything better than we could have imagined. Certainly one of the best and cosiest cottages we have stayed in.
