This charming country house has elegant reception rooms and ample privately owned (traffic free) outdoor space, including a tennis court, making it the perfect retreat for entertaining friends and family.
Situated in the peaceful North Yorkshire countryside on the edge of the village of Markington, and between Harrogate and Ripon, it is perfectly located to see some of Yorkshire's most famous tourist attractions.
Next to the house is the world renowned equestrian centre - the Yorkshire Riding centre. Guests at the house can visit the horses in their stables and watch lessons on the cross country course should they desire to.
The house comfortably sleeps 17.
There are also wooden chalets on the property, which are available for additional accommodation at an extra cost. These can sleep up to 10 in single beds.
Maximum Capacity is 27 people.
Barolin Farm is the family home in which I grew up. I am the youngest of the Bartle family, renowned for their fame and success in the horse world. It adjoins the Yorkshire Riding Centre, which my mother founded in 1962. We enjoyed a wonderful and eccentric childhood here, wondering about the extensive grounds and riding constantly. Guests at Barolin Farm, are welcome to visit the horses and watch lessons taking place. Now my two daughters have grown up and fled the nest, and after a very successful stay at new years by a group of friends, we have now decided to make it available for groups to rent out. We receive plaudits for it's unique charm, comfort and suitability.
Belinda Bartle purchased this chateau / country house in 1950
Barolin Farm was originally part of the Wilberforce estate built in the late 18th century, and it is very much a country house set in beautiful Yorkshire countryside between Harrogate and Ripon.
It is in a great situation for a rural retreat, surrounded by rolling Yorkshire countryside, half a mile outside the sleepy village of Markington.
Its perfectly located for access to Yorkshire's most popular tourist destinations; two miles from the great heritage site Fountains Abbey and six miles from Newby Hall.
Barolin Farm has 8 spacious bedrooms, sleeping 17 all en suite.
The large farmhouse kitchen with an Aga is very much the heart of the house.
Adjoining the kitchen is a snug area with solid fuel stove.
The large drawing room with log fire and the dining room make entertaining in this house a real occasion.
So there is plenty of room for large groups and all generations to enjoy.
The one acre walled garden on the South side of the house and the courtyard on the North provides ample traffic free safe space for children to let off steam.
There is also a tennis court to play in.
'Our room was spacious, airy and well equipped. The bathroom huge and both of these rooms overlooking the beautiful garden.
The location is a little out of the way which was perfect for us, very tranquil.
We would definitely recommend this guest house to a couple wanting a tranquil few nights away. Its a magic, secret place.'

Beautiful, massive country house 15 miles from Harrogate. 17 of us just spent a great weekend there. The house was clean, beds were comfortable and house was cosy and well stocked with linen and towels. Belinda was lovely and helpful. It was a cold wet weekend walking around the Christmas Market and discovering the joys of Harrogate but we always came home to a lovely warm house full of stunning furniture and character. Thank you Belinda.
We stayed here for my sister's hen do and it was perfect. Spacious rooms, great kitchen and lots of bathrooms. About 15 mins drive to Harrogate - ideal for a day out. Thanks Belinda!
I stayed at Barolin Farm with a group of 16 for a weekend earlier in May. The booking process was very easy, the co-ordinator of the bookings was extremely helpful answering all of my questions via email prior to our arrival. The house and gardens are beautiful, the rooms are spacious, quite a few en-suite or with a bathroom between 2 rooms. There are large communal rooms (lounge and dining areas), as well as outside seating space. I would love to stay here again - it was fabulous
This is a hidden gem! What a lucky find! The house is absolutely stunning, a real country home with an amazing kitchen and a very welcoming, warm reception from Belinda who was just fabulous! Nothing was too much trouble and she was just fantastic.
Twenty seven of us stayed in the house and chalets on the grounds of the farm for a friend's hen weekend and we were not disappointed. We could not have asked for more and would not hesitate to return. Some of the ladies are planning on returning with their families they loved it soo much. Thank you for helping us to make the weekend so special. Xx
This is a true gem, and one I don't really want to share!
For my thirtieth birthday I wanted to celebrate it in style, and that's exactly what we did. We were a party of 13, plus one dog, and it's fair to say we all had a lovely time and the house was beautiful. As it was mid-December the house had been so tastefully decorated and the decorations were an extra special touch. Everyone agreed that the house was stunning, comfortable, warm and cozy. It was the perfect setting to celebrate my birthday and I hope we shall return for many more celebrations.
The house has everything and more that you could need, was so warm, (thank you Aga!) and we also popped up to Fountains Abbey to go for a walk as well.
Also in the morning we even able to borrow some jump leads from someone as one of the cars wouldn't start, which was also very helpful.
I would thoroughly recommend this house, you will not be disappointed, and it is fantastic value for money. Belinda is a wonderful host and was always at the end of the phone or email to answer any questions or queries.
What a perfect location for our family & friends from Scotland & Australia to gather for our daughter's wedding. 16 of us all accommodated under one roof with room to spread out during bridal preparations! The expansive terrace and lawns provided the ideal space for post wedding recovery lunch and games.
Everything was provided to create the perfect "home from home" for the duration of our seven night stay.
Belinda was so friendly and willingly met all our requests and needs. Everything was so comfortable and welcoming even down to the fresh flowers on the dining table. We have made some amazing new memories at this beautiful location.
