About Suzie and Baz

We are Suzie and Baz who moved to France in June 2012. We chose the location not only for the great climate but it is very central for Bordeaux, La Rochelle, Cognac, Royan and beaches all within 1 hour drive. Close to airports and train stations as well as being drivable in a day for family and friends. We also wanted to be near Les Thermes the spa centre with spring waters that help Rhumatism and Arthritis sufferers, because we both practise Reiki and Magnotherapy which we offer to guests free if requested. There is lots to do in the area for all ages.

The house with Gite we chose as it has enough land to grow our own veg, fruit, herbs and almonds and walnuts. We make jams and pickles as well as bottling fruit. We keep Chickens for eggs.

Suzie and Baz purchased this house in 2012

Why Suzie and Baz chose Charente-Maritime

We have gone to great lengths to make our guests stay as comfortable as possible, all bedding and towels are 400 count Egyptian cotton, the mattresses are top quality with toppers for extra comfort. Fly screens on windows and doors and a new cool air system that is the quietest on the market. Large Pergola on the patio gives shade for outdoor dining. Pool & beach towels supplied plus chairs and picnic table to take to local beaches or parks.

What makes this house unique

What we supply and include in our holidays is unique to us, you will not find another house offering so much. Typical comments:" wow the best gite we've ever stayed in"

A fantastic property all as described

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed in many properties in France since 2000 and Le Petite Sanctuaire proved to be by far the best, this was the first time that we had booked a property where the owners were on site, we quickly realised that Baz & Suzie our hosts are extremely aware of their guests privacy and are there for you if you need them. We had a very welcome enjoyable meal provided by Suzie on our arrival which was much appreciated, the property is as described so what more can I say, comfy beds, good quality extra large bath towels, every utensil in the kitchen that you could possibly need, an excellent bbq and work station, fresh eggs from the chucks and fresh vegetables from the garden provide by Baz. We were kindly invited out by Baz & Suzie on our middle Friday to a bar in Chaddenac which is kept going by the ex pats meeting up once a week for a catch up, loads of places to visit all within easy reach that's if you can drag yourself away from the beautiful swimming pool which is cleaned each morning ready for your "sole use", we had fantastic weather throughout our stay with temps in the 30's so needless to say a lot of visits we had planned we will have to do next year if Baz & Suzie will have us back and the property is available, almost forgot, if star gazing with some cold refreshment on your hand floats your boat then during our stay this was certainly the place to be, what a treat to see with the naked eye the international space station, satellites and a plethora of shooting stars. This is a top property that will suit two couples (as in our case), Two families (4 adults, 4Kids) as eight people can be accommodated easily. Once again Baz & Suzie thanks for being ideal hosts and hopefully see you again next year.

Great Holiday

  • 5 of 5

You know it's a great holiday when you don't want to go home! Thanks Susie and Baz for making sure we had such a lovely break. All the extras you provide such as towels, and a welcome pack of food, and of course the fantastic meal the day we arrived made our stay extra special. Having the games room gave us some great extra space after the kids had gone to bed and gave the children a fantastic play space. You have arranged things perfectly so the kids had freedom and we knew they we're perfectly safe. We all loved your pool and the boys loved feeding Raymond and his girls!

It is evident you have so carefully considered what makes a great holiday. We highly recommend a stay here, thank you for a lovely holiday : )

Owner's Response: This family are quite exceptional in their involvement of the children's lives and it is obvious how they enjoy each others company, to be part of that was a privilege for us. Laughter and fun filled the air for 2 weeks solid; we do hope they come visit us again. Love Baz & Suzie

This place has everything

  • 5 of 5

We came here for an end of Summer break and although the weather could have been better, we still enjoyed the comfort of the gite and the warm hospitality of the owners. When the sun did shine, the heated swimming pool was a bonus with towels provided and sun beds to relax on. Plenty of room for a couple but also very suitable for a family.

Nice relaxing holiday

  • 5 of 5

A very well equipped Gite in a very quiet location. The owners are very friendly and will try to make your stay as relaxing as possible. The pool is lovely and the games room a big bonus, lots of games for young and old. The beach at Meschers was delightfully quiet and the surrounding towns and cities are beautiful.
