About Judy Lawrence
Alan and Judy have owned Hawthorn Cottage for almost 20 years, and take care to constantly improve and update the fixtures and contents. We love this area, and spend much time exploring and walking in the Peak District. We offer a personal booking service , and are always ready to offer help with planning your holiday.
Why Judy Lawrence chose Mapleton
The cottage has been described as a "home from home" by many guests and is well equipped and comfortable. We have preserved the original features such as original fireplace, stripped beams and polished wood and slate floors. The garden is a delightful peaceful place to sit, with views of the hills, and you can walk to Dovedale or Ashbourne from here, or just stroll along the footpaths by the river.
What makes this Cottage unique
Hawthorn Cottage is just over 1 mile from the lovely Georgian market town of Ashbourne with its many facilities. This is a great location for touring the Peak District, visiting many scenic areas, stately homes such as Haddon Hall, Chatsworth and Sudbury, and opportunities for trips to Alton towers and trying watersports at Carsington reservoir. The Tissington trail and bike hire centre is also at the edge of the village.

Hawthorn Cottage is lovely. Very well equipped, spotlessly clean, very comfortable beds. The surrounding area is very pretty (helped by the snow!), several good walks, and an excellent and friendly pub next door. We would certainly stay here again.
Thank you for your kind review. We are glad you have enjoyed your week at Hawthorn Cottage - made more spectacular by the unusually snowy weather!
Cosy Comfortable Cottage in great location
Loved the cottage, and garden. Great area for walking and sightseeing, and Ashbourne was lovely.
Lovely Cottage in a great location
Homely, comfortable cottage in a great location for walking and cycling. Walks and cycle rides right from the doorstep, the wonderful Tissington trail just down the road. Lovely secluded back garden with great views. Pub next door for reasonably priced food, but not too close to the Cottage to be a nuisance!
Free Wi Fi which is a bonus and a place to safely lock up your cycles.
Thank you for your kind feedback. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay at Hawthorn Cottage. We personally check the cottage regularly to ensure that guests needs are being met, and love to hear that guests have had a good stay.
