Traditional, detached, Country Farmhouse in a village setting, yet within easy reach of La Rochelle and all of the attractions the South Vendee has to offer. This lovely property offers lots of original features and has been completed to a very good standard, offering accommodation for 6/8 people with ensuite bedrooms.

It is an excellent base for walking, fishing, cycling, swimming and bird watching. Just 31 kilometres to the lovely beaches, La Rochelle and Ile de Re, which is a very exclusive island with many restaurants.
This pretty stone built farmhouse offers a large living area, private enclosed garden with heated swimming pool and a lovely summer kitchen with a very large dining area.
Kitchen/Dining Area has lots of character due to lots of lovely original features including beams, stone walls, fire place with log fire.... Kitchen area includes cooker, dishwasher (in summer kitchen), fridge/freezer/ice maker, microwave etc. Washing machine.
There is a beautiful, comfortable lounge with 3 settees, English TV/DVD and a music centre. WIFI
Large Double bedroom with plenty of wardrobe space, ensuite shower room.
Very large family bedroom with double bed and 2 single beds, with ensuite shower room and separate WC.
Above the kitchen/dining area is a mezzanine floor with a double bed.

We had such a lovely stay in Vouille les Marais Could you please let Veronica know that she has a real treasure in Jean Claude and his family. There was a problem with the kitchen drain while we were there, and Jean Claude was vigilant about sorting it out without causing any disturbance to us at all. I only hope the problem was sorted for the next visitors. The house and pool were a dream for us and the village is just so lovely. Even the grumpy Boulanger managed a smile! I would highly recommend this property for a quiet family holiday.
We had a great holiday at the above property we all absolutely loved the villa! So much so we are thinking of going back next year

The village of Vouillé les Marais has a little café-bar, a small but amazingly well stocked shop (they always seem to have exactly what we need) and a boulangerie - all just a couple of minutes walk away. There's also a tiny museum which is worth poking your nose into and a lovely craft shop. There's a jam maker's workshop too.
The next-but-one village, Le Gué, has a shop and a bar where you can take your drinks over to the picnic tables by the river. It's really lovely down there and we actually prefer it to our local in Vouillé.
It is only 31 kilometres to the beautiful West Coast beaches of L'Aiguillon sur Mer, Les Conches, La Tranche sur Mer, La Rochelle and Ile De Re etc Vendee beaches are blue flag beaches, very clean and safe. Some resorts are very quiet with a short stroll through pine forests leading to the beaches, some busier resorts with restaurants, bars, choice of watersports etc
Vouillé les Marais is located in the marais poitevin, one of the most beautiful and least known corners of France. Criss-crossed by canals passing under leafy trees with an amazing variety of wildlife and idyllic scenery, it's the perfect place for a week away from it all. A peaceful rural setting yet within easy reach of all amenities and attractions.
The nearby towns of Marans and Fontenay le Comte have very good restaurants and attractions.
The nearest town of Fontenay Le Comte is 10-15 minute drive away, this is a rennaissance town with a good selection of restaurants, cafes, bars, shops. and a good Saturday morning market. Well worth a visit.
La Rochelle is a 35 minute drive, with the beautiful harbour place, exclusive shops and restaurants, parks etc A lovely day out and a must to visit.
The island is Ile de Re, near La Rochelle is exclusive and car free. great seafood restaurants.
Mervent is a very large forest area, with great walks, picnic areas, various watersports available, small zoo, theme park.
Vouvant is one of the prettiest villages in France.
Puy du Fou is an excellent theme park, an absolute must to visit, approx 1 hour 50 minutes away.
There are plenty of places to go and lots to do to suits all ages and tastes. These include Puy Du Fou, Mervent forest, Mervent Zoo, Ile de Re, La Rochelle aquarium, children’s adventure parks, beautiful beaches, chateau's, museums, wine tasting - the list goes on and on...
A great area for lots of sports, including swimming, cycling, walking, fishing, golf, sailing, canoeing, surfing, etc.
Fonteney le Comte is 12 minutes drive and La Rochelle 35 minutes drive
Nearest ferry port is St Malo - 3 hours Drive
Caen is 4.5 hours, Calais 6 hours
Nearest Airport is La Rochelle - 31 kilometres
