Both Alison and I have visited the island many times before. On each occasion, we've had a fantastic experience and have come to relish time spent there so much so, that we decided to build our own dream house. We enjoy the relaxing ,rejuvenating and colourful lifestyle the Island offers and are always sad to leave. Our home in the sun invites soothing ocean breezes and boasts harmony and tranquility. My wife and I feel its only right others enjoy what the island has to offer as much as we do; we would like to welcome you to Barbados and to Serenity!
Andrew Maynard purchased this villa in 2008
Serenity, is a family home that was built in 2008. It is a luxurious 8 person villa situated on the South Coast of the island minutes from the airport. As its name suggests, its location is both tranquil and beautiful, complimented by ocean views and delightful surroundings. A five minute stroll delivers Long Beach and soothing Atlantic Sea breezes. A 10 minute drive from the charisma of Oistins and 20 minutes from the alluring St. Lawrence’ Gap, offers you the choice between relaxation or excitement; a difficult but desirable decision. Serenity boasts spacious bedrooms, dining/cooking areas, together with open plan verandas and balconies overlooking the pool. Each bedroom is air conditioned, although you may prefer to enjoy sweet all-day breezes.
An abundance of time and thought has gone in to this family villa to make it both comfortable and accommodating. The flowing, open plan design allows sweet and soothing breezes to spread throughout the house, both upstairs and down. The house is very spacious and has a light airy and welcoming atmosphere that is soothing and peaceful. The downstairs balcony has 4 cane chairs and seated table and plenty of space! The upstairs balcony provides a cosy retreat overlooking the pool and nearby Atlantic Ocean. Surrounding walls and a front gate offer privacy and house a garage for car storage.
From the very beginning of the process to book our stay Andrew was fantastic. Even when I asked lots of questions. When we arrived the home was a little hard to find. Once we called Joyce she met us at a spot we recognized and led us back to the house. She even lead us to the local grocery store when we arrived. She was sweet and very helpful. The home is very large and beautiful! the bedrooms are spacious and comfortable. The deck down by the pool is huge! It also has a great breeze that comes through at night. It's a wonderful spot to relax. The pool was clean and refreshing. This house was more than enough room for 4 people. We rented a car and learned away around quickly. The locals are very patient with visitors driving there for the first time:) We received a deposit back promptly and would gladly take another vacation to Barbados and stay here again.
There only recommendation I would have is there needs to be a coffee pot, blender and a cookie sheet. Other than that the home is equipped with what is needed. There is a local store a about a mile away where you can get odds and ends and a grocery store about 5 min away. Miami beach is a short drive and the most gorgeous beach I've every seen. Do the fish fry, that was cool and close.
All in all awesome vacation and great place to stay. You will not be disappointed!!
What a fantastic place to stay!
We went there last summer and will be returning shortly for our second visit.
From the impressive exterior we saw as we arrived to the magnificent spacious interior. We were all delighted with our bedrooms upstairs and loved spending time downstairs in all different parts of the house, especially the large back veranda looking down over the pool to the sea.
We had trips to Oistins, a safari, a catamaran trip, but the favourite was Hunte's gardens, which was stunning and we will visit again.
We were well looked after and would be more than happy to recommend this property to anyone looking for a beautiful house to stay in when they come to Barbados. Serenity is the right name for this house.
From the moment we decided to stay at Serenity in Inch Marlow, Barbados, the Villa owner Andrew was very pleasant and helpful. He never hesitated to address any of our concerns, we felt safe and secure from the start of doing business with him.
There was six of us that stayed at Serenity, we felt a comfortable and an inviting feel from the moment we arrived. The Villa was perfect for the six of us, it was beautiful and very spacious. The surrounding area was quiet and tranquil. The view was amazing and the breeze that came from Long Beach right behind the Villa helped us relax as we gathered on the back porch to chat, drink beers, laugh and enjoy our stay.
Traveling to Oistin's and the inner city via bus and taxi was simple. The Villa provided car service information if needed and information about other things to do in the island.
The staff was very welcoming and friendly, Joyce the Villa manager was a very nice, she provided us with a tour; leaving her number in the event we needed it. She also took the time to checked in on us midway through our stay.
Linda the housekeeper was a very pleasant too she came to the Villa twice during our stay. We barely knew she was there. The Villa was well kept.
The only thing that we would suggest is that the Owner/HomeAway should provide a more detailed list of what renters should bring such as extra bathroom tissue. We thought Linda would refill the bathroom tissue and we learned during her second visit that we should have purchased some at the market but once Linda learned that we were short she located us and extra roll.
Overall, staying at Serenity was a wonderful experience.
We are seasoned villa users, staying in around 20 over the last few years. To be honest, we find the reviews published to be a bit OTT. Beyond a doubt the structure of this Villa is impressive, and the location - whilst somewhat remote - did not create a problem. Here are our (hopefully constructive) observations:
Firstly - surely some sort of map, and driving instructions to the Villa could be provided? It was harrowing to arrive at Barbados Airport with just a telephone number to contact. That proved quite traumatic, when nobody answered - and we had no idea where we were going! Thankfully a very helpful lady in the information kiosk managed to make contact, and armed us with some very complicated directions from the Airport. Maybe even a "meet and greet" service might be a good option?
90 minutes after our arrival we found our way to Serenity. As I said, the outside structure is impressive - but the half built properties adjacent are the opposite, a complete eyesore. Mind you, should they ever be completed they will look directly over the garden of Serenity, and be quite an intrusion.
Once inside, the spaciousness of the Villa is evident. The master bedroom is superb, and well appointed. The second bedroom was again well appointed - but the lack of an en suite detracted. The other two bedrooms were more than adequate.
Downstairs, we found to be comfortable - although we spent very little time there other than in the kitchen. We were dissapointed with the equipment therein. In fact, we thought it was poor. All of the China/crockery/glasses were of a poor standard, and there were insufficient pots/pans to be able to cook as we wished. The cooker was large, but temperamental and a dish washer was nowhere to be seen.
The patio area was a wonderful size, but the garden furniture and tables are pitiful. Surely any visitors to this property would expect to eat most of their meals outside? That should be provided for, but there is a rotting table for four outside - and we were forced to bring an unsuitable picnic table downstairs from the verandah to use. We were a party of 5 - I have no idea how 8 or 10 people would cope!
Deck chairs were provided, but two of them were falling apart and unsafe to use.
The pool is most unusual. It's very small and very deep. Not at all safe for young children. The deck area surrounding the pool was dirty, and was never cleaned during our stay.
On the positive side, the cleaner called every other day -
This was the best self catering holiday EVER! Although it is advertised as a 4 bedroom villa, as we were a party of 10, Andrew kindly turned the downstairs study into a further bedroom. This did not have air con, but a fan was provided. The whole experience of staying at Serenity was WOW! We arrived in the dark so could not take in everything until the next day, and we were all amazed at the sheer spaciousness. The photos are amazing, but actually experiencing it is sheer luxury. The island is in natural darkness from around 5.30 pm every day, but be prepared to be breathless at the beauty of the sunsets and sunrises. As previous holidaymakers have mentioned, the villa is slightly off the beaten track, but we saw that as a plus, as the local transport is so easy to use, you can be in Oistins within 10 minutes. Make sure to go to Enterprise and Miami beaches, just as you get off the bus in Oistins. To be honest, all the beaches on the west coast are stunning, as are the ones on the east, but with the west being the Caribbean sea, it's much calmer than the Atlantic on the east side of the island.we chartered a catamaran, which was well worth it. The price included return transport from the villa to Bridgetown, where we were put in the capable hands of the catamaran crew. We snorkelled and swam in the clear blue sea, sailed up the entire west coast and were catered for very generously in the food and drink department. We'd definitely stay at Serenity for any future trips to Barbados, guaranteed.
It took a while to find - Barbados road signs are not the best - but on arrival we were greeted by a wonderful, peaceful setting and a warm smile from Joyce, the agent who looks after the property (who is terrific help by the way).
Immediately struck by a sense of space with huge (air conditioned) bedrooms upstairs and plenty of bathrooms ........and the garden setting is tranquil and confined with a great pool to dive in and cool off.
Sure, the half finished build next to the property is not beautiful on the eye and Andrew could do with adding a BBQ but, that aside, it really is a great place to stay for 8 days and enjoy some Bajan sunshine.
Couple of tips - you will definitely need a car for staying here as it will make life a whole lot easier to get to/from. Restaurant tip - Tapas Barbados (it was superb), Night out - Oistins (wonderful seafood and ice cold beers in rickety old restaurants (brilliant)..........finally Boat Trip - SilverMoon Barbados - it was the best day of the trip !
