Also wine growing regions.

Horse riding, canoeing, cycling, fishing, bird watching, rock climbing, tree wire, paragliding, wine tasting, museums, tennis and of course walking.

An afternoon's excursion by canoe through the Aveyron Gorge is considered a 'must' by nearly all guests.

Golf: Golf is a delight in this part of France ~ courses are often clear, even in the high season.

There is an excellent 18~hole golf course at the beautiful city of Albi (45 min)/another smaller golf course @ Gaillac (40 min)

Why not take the whole family for a half day visit to the medieval town of Albi, to explore the boutiques and cafes, and then meet up at one of the many restaurants in town. There is also a public water park @ Albi for the children

About Jayne

This region is just my favourite place to be, to relax, unwind and take pleasure in the nature and beauty of the surroundings, and the wonderful slower pace of life.

That, combined with the many summer events, night markets & weekly markets makes this a perfect place to enjoy everything that is on offer.

Jayne purchased this house in 1993

Why Jayne chose Tarn-et-Garonne

We chose the location as it's only and hour and half drive from Toulouse airport and easy to get to. Right in the middle of the countryside, with great views and because it's on the plateau far from any town lights and noise we get a fantastic mix of wildlife and wild birds including many raptors. At the moment we have two pairs of Black Kites that regularly hunt over the fields behind the house.

The area is reputed to be the lowest populated area in the whole of Western Europe which in these days of hustle and bustle of the big towns means that it is a delight to come away to.

What makes this house unique

The pool has fabulous views over the valley and is in full sun most of the day.

Due to it's remoteness the area has held onto to some of the medieval feeling and the architecture is particular to this area. It is also the area where the most London Plane trees grow and is renowned for its views with these magnificent trees lining the roads.

One of the many pleasures is waiting for the first Hoopoe birds to appear from Africa each year which heralds summer has arrived!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you so much for the loveliest holiday we have had in a long time!

Aelswith, July 2014

We have had the perfect week here at La Borde. Hot days basking by a perfect pool, exciting electric storms at night with warm, balmy days for cycling. Thank you for your warm welcome, informative chats about the area and for making sure everything was perfect.

Steve, Julia

It has been a truly wonderful stay here, the pool / the bedrooms, the comfort throughout and kind, thoughtful management!

We have had a fantastic time and will (without a doubt) be nagging to get back again in the future.

Imogen, Olivia, Aug

A tranquil and relaxing setting with so much to do if you can drag yourself from the stunning pool. Roads are perfect for cycling – our 2 children couldn’t have been happier. There are so many interesting towns & villages to visit.

Thank you Amanda for being so kind and helpful.

Regrettably, the property is unsuitable for children under 6 years of age . Also no pets, sorry. Outside: Large salt pool (12m x 6m) for sole use : Terraced with sun loungers, chairs, table and parasol. With fabulous, uninterrupted views & sunshine all day long, the pool is ideally located. However there is a private garden section to the Guest House and the pool area is not overlooked and is for SOLE USE of clients. In all 2 hectares to enjoy. The perfect holiday to relax and unwind !

  • 5 of 5

We had such a relaxing time that we rebooked the minute we returned home! Our whole experience was fantastic. From the minute we arrived we were greeted with a welcome pack and gifts for the girls . The gite is beautiful and had so much to offer including a private pool , badminton and table tennis . Amanda has the perfect combination of incredible organisation, helpfulness but is unobtrusive too . We really recharged our batteries this holiday and can't wait to return next summer !

Blissful escape in a lovely property.

  • 5 of 5

A great gite in a truly beautiful setting. The property is incredibly well equipped with all you could ask for - and more. Amanda is a thoughtful and attentive host, but not at all intrusive. She was incredibly helpful with a wealth of local knowledge to help us explore the stunning local villages and various attractions/ activities. We enjoyed St Antonin, with the bustling Sunday market, pretty Najac with a delicious lunch and some incredible views, canoeing some exhilarating rapids from AAGAC Najac and plenty of lounging/ playing around the lovely pool. A perfect place to relax and unwind. Many thanks.

La Borde, the ideal place for a relaxing holiday.

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic 2 weeks at La Borde. We thought the accommodation was very well appointed, well maintained and well equipped. The quiet location was ideal for a very relaxing holiday and well placed to visit the local area and explore some of the hill top towns and villages. The Sunday market at St. Antonin Noble Val is well worth a visit as is the town of Najac. Amanda's knowledge, experience and advice was extremely helpful to us and we very much look forward to returning for another holiday in the not too distant future.

Peaceful Haven

  • 5 of 5

We had a truly relaxing week at La Borde. It is one of the best gites we have stayed in in France, very well equipped, comfortable and spotless. The pool was a welcome relief in the hot weather. We visited many medieval towns and villages especially the Sunday market at Saint Antonin is a must. Amanda is a great host making sure everything is perfect and advising the best places to visit. Thank you Amanda. We'll be back!

Tranquil, rural retreat

  • 4 of 5

Beautiful country house set adjacent to the owners house (he was not there) and sharing the same grounds. Totally tranquil, and pretty much isolated that a car is essential. But the upside is people and traffic free and unspoilt countryside on all sides and no light pollution for amazing starscapes at night. Nearest villages typically 8-10km away. Nearest large supermarket (very large!) about 40 minutes away. This is no problem at all if you plan properly as the house has 2 fridges and a freezer. Property clean, well maintained, and meticulously labelled by Amanda, who has encylopaedic local knowledge and is on hand by email and phone if the written information she has provided (volumes) is insufficient. Has good moderately fast wifi + English Freeview TV. Charming villages within 30 mins drive (Najac, St. Antonin), vineyards (Gaillac wine route) within 60 minutes on quiet country roads. The pool is large and clean, with sunbeds, shades and towels provided. Definitely a get-away-from-it-all holiday location, best suited to families or couples seeking peace, quiet, decompression, who like local French culture and speak at least a little of the language and don't mind some driving. No English speaking bars, tattoos, English breakfasts or Sky Sports in sight. We liked it a great deal.
