Welcome to the Corner House, York, a stunning 3 bedroom / 2 bathroom luxury townhouse which is just a few minutes walk from the City Centre along the ancient banks of the River Ouse. This beautiful 4 storey Victorian property has recently been subject to an outstanding refurbishment and provides the comfort and space to ensure you have an enjoyable York holiday.

The property sits in a highly sought after quiet residential area with pubs, delicatessens and supermarkets all in close proximity. Corner House is furnished and equipped to the highest standards and provides an elegant, spacious holiday home which feels luxurious at every turn. On the lower ground floor you’ll find a large, bright, modern kitchen fitted with high spec appliances including Nespresso coffee machine, induction hob, the latest Neff Hide and Slide oven, Bosch dishwasher, a washer dryer and full size fridge freezer. The cupboards are well stocked with high quality catering equipment, crockery and glassware to ensure you are able to prepare a special meal to serve on the solid oak full size dining table that sits at the heart of this large kitchen. The kitchen also includes a casual seating area so that meal preparation remains a social occasion and part of your holiday with a handy downstairs cloak room and wash room for added convenience.

The ground floor provides a generously sized, double aspect sitting room, with reclining leather settees, contemporary armchairs, a large 49 inch curved Smart TV linked to the free Wi Fi. A Smart home hub allows you to play music, adjust the lighting and heating system all from the comfort of your chair plus listen to the latest news, weather and get up to date information about the local area. Relaxing mood lighting and large circulation space makes the sitting room a comfortable place for you to relax together on your holiday.

The bedrooms in Corner House are set over the first and second floors. The first of which is a large double aspect master bedroom; a beautiful room which boasts an oak king size bed and wardrobe, Smart TV and ensuite shower room with power shower. Also on this floor is the spacious family bath room with a full size shower bath with power shower and contemporary heated towel rail. On the second floor are two more double bedrooms. The first room is equipped with a king-size bed which can be split into two singles depending on your requirements (please note this will need to be requested at the point of booking). This large room also includes walk in wardrobe, Smart TV and vaulted ceiling adding further to the sense of space. The second bedroom on this floor also has a similar vaulted ceiling and provides double bed, oak wardrobe, Smart TV and double aspect giving this room a light airy feel.

The bedrooms all feature top of the range pocket sprung mattresses and combined with luxurious 100% cotton bed linen the Corner House beds will ensure you have a good nights sleep throughout your stay.

York is one of the best city break destinations in England. But don’t just take our word for it, York is constantly in the UK top 20 Cities to visit and in Lonely Planet’s 2014 Best list, Yorkshire was described as the best place in Europe and third best in the world to visit.

The city was founded by the Romans as Eboracum in 71 AD, with its ancient walls and Minster the city has been the north’s spiritual capital for 2000 years. Corner House is ideally placed to sample this ancient City. Everywhere in York is easily reachable by foot and with a short riverside walk to the City's castle, visitors to Corner House can enjoy hundreds of attractions, museums, historic buildings, tours, shops, restaurants and bars.

When visiting Corner house the whole of Yorkshire is on the doorstep with excellent transport links, including the 10 min interval Park and Ride bus stop on the main road at the end of the street. Visitors can easily get to the station, City centre or alternatively head out to the City's Designer Outlet, a must visit fashion and shopping destination, home to 120 designer brands all at up to 60% less.

Corner House visitors who wish to explore the City's extensive cycle network can store their bikes in the secure bike shed or hire them a few minutes walk away.

For those vistors who have travelled to York from further a field by train and wish to explore the Yorkshire Countryside or Coast, daily car hire is also available just adjacent to the Park and Ride bus stop and bookable in advance over the internet.

Corner house is a 2 minute walk away from a Sainsbury's supermarket so shopping for those last minute items could not be easier, alternatively as well as all the City Centre restaurants there are three high quality delicatessens within a 5 minute walk of the house.

Rounding off the perfect location, for those looking to complete a days sightseeing with a drink in a traditional Pub then the Wellington Inn or the Fulford Arms are both again within a 2 minute walk from the Corner House.

About Jo Ferris

Hi, my name is Jo Ferris and I am one of the owners of Corner House. Although we work locally family ties and commitments mean that we live approximately 50 minutes away. What we love to do, however, is spend time in York with family and friends and Corner House is the ideal property to allow us to do that.

Although we have stayed in many holiday lets over the years this is the first time that we have owned a holiday cottage ourselves and on starting out I have been very conscious of what we like to find when you first open the front door.

Why Jo Ferris chose York

We feel very lucky to have found this property as its size and location makes it a perfect place for us to enjoy the city of York. The living room and kitchen provides us with plenty of space to socialise and enjoy each others company. Yet when you want bit of chill out time to yourself there is also room to get away from each other.

What makes this house unique

It was the location of Corner House that first attracted us to the property, situated in a quiet residential area with the convenience of local supermarkets, pubs and delicatessens close by. Then a short walk along the river path brings you into busy city centre York with all the shops, bars, restaurants and tourist attractions that it has to offer.

Arriving at Corner House could not be easier as by car there is no need to drive into the city centre situated as it is just off Fulford Road. If you are travelling by train, catch the bus outside the station and it drops you at the end of the road, 2 minutes away from the house.

Ideal Townhouse within walkable distance of city centre. Beautifully presented .

Top quality furniture, fittings and kitchen. Thoughtful extras. Ideal for us as a family of 4 with 2 teenagers. A short scenic riverside walk takes you into the centre of York. Very close to Designer Outlet Centre if you are looking for bargains. Good on a rainy day especially with teenagers. Owner very helpful and thoughtful. Would thoroughly recommend.

Just Perfect

My family and I (inc partner and 2 kids- 13 and 10) had a great few days at the Corner House, York. The house was beautifully furnished - high spec appliances, and had everything you could possibly need for a self catering holiday. The beds were super comfy too. The house is located in a lovely, quiet street with a supermarket , cafe and chemist just a minute or two away. There's also a bus stop very nearby with a great service into the city centre. The short walk along the river into town was stunning. We'd return in a heartbeat and thoroughly recommend it for families or groups coming to York. Thanks for everything Jo,

We loved our stay at corner house. Nice little cafe steps away from the door for coffee and a morning bite. Scenic walk to city center and a nice traditional pub around the corner. The beds are quite comfortable and we all had plenty of space to move around. We will not hesitate to book it again.

Luxuriously comfortable town house with everything you need.

Jo was there to give me a warm welcome at check in.

I found the house spotless - tastefully and thoughtfully finished.

The space is much bigger and grander that it appears in the photos. The house was more than big enough to accommodate our party of 5.

The house manuel told us everything we needed to know.

The beautiful walk into town along the river was about 20 minutes, and was well lit at night.

Myself and my four other travel companions all agreed that we had a comfortable and luxurious stay, which was great value for the money we paid.

I would definitely recommend staying here if you are a big family, or couples travelling together. Excellent!

Beautiful property within walking distance of York centre

I stayed here with my family for a four night break during the October half term.

The property itself is wonderful, It's located in a quiet residential area in York. The property is Clean and tidy with enough amenities to keep everyone happy from Grand parents to my six year old son (I don't think I have stayed in a better appointed holiday property). Jo the owner is a pleasure to deal with and even accommodated us arriving slightly early on the day of arrival (Thank you for this).

The property is approximately a ten minute riverside walk away from York center with its many attractions,pubs and restaurants and makes for a great base to explore York from. We parked the cars on the Monday and didn't use them for the rest of the week. In that regard there is also lots of free parking at the property so no need to worry about where to park the car which can be a concern when staying in York.

I would highly recommend this property to others and would definitely stay here again if visiting York

Simply ideal

A lovely property, in a good location. All the gadgets you need to enjoy your stay and would certainly recommend. Keeps you fit too with all those stairs but good if kids / adults wanted some quiet time , plenty space to escape too.
