About Tiina Hill
We are a family living in Wirksworth with an enthusiasm for the outdoors and the cultural life. Wirksworth provides the perfect base for both! We love the artist community in Wirksworth, the annual arts festival and all the other creative activity that takes place. We are always happy to give you ideas for places to visit, or to go walking and cycling. I love fell running and walking in the hills, and my husband loves his collection of mountain and road bicycles and likes to get out mountain biking in the Peak District at every opportunity. The cottage has lots of maps and books for ideas on where to go. We very warmly welcome you here and happy to help you make the most of your stay.
Tiina Hill purchased this Cottage in 2009
Why Tiina Hill chose Wirksworth
We lovingly renovated the cottage a few years ago, and have spent happy times there ourselves and now want to let other people enjoy the magical countryside spot. I always feel that Hillside Cottage is a very happy beautiful cottage with the beautiful sunlight it gets and the great suntrap garden with lots of birds and butterflies.
What makes this Cottage unique
The cottage has an amazing tranquility and peace about it as it has a Scandinavian influenced beautiful decor, and has views of hills and fields. The garden offers a perfect opportunity for watching the evening sunset with a glass of wine, or enjoy the frosty views in the winter.

If you are fit enough to climb up the lanes to this cottage you are rewarded with a perfect little get-away with a wonderful view over the hills and down into town.
Well equipped, stylish and quiet location.
Booked a little late but owner very accommodating. Cottage was as good has we expected and would not hesitate booking again if we were looking to stay in the Peak District.
Hillside must be the nearest to heaven you’ll ever get.
Hillside is just perfect, a warm welcome from Tiina heralds a wonderful stay. The views are stunning. You can sit outside and enjoy just the sound of silence. Nothing has been forgotten to make it an outstanding stay. Comfortable bed, that you can lie in and enjoy the view. Fully equipped kitchen, tv and DVD player. If you don’t stop here you’ve missed out. We can’t wait to go again.
We had a lovely stay at Hill side cottage.
When we arrived Tiina had kindly left a pint of milk and cakes, which were very much appreciated!
The cottage was clean and beautifully decorated with a lovely small garden which had great views down to Wirksworth.
Unfortunately the weather was very wet and quite chilly during our stay but we felt warm and cosy as we retreated back to the cottage.
Just wish we could have taken advantage of the lovely garden and been able to take in the beautiful views!
Lovely little cottage on the edge of the Peak District
Nothing negative for us, location and facilities fine. Cottage was clean and had everything we needed for our stay. As it is at the top of a short (but steep path), my only caveat is that persons with limited mobility might struggle with their luggage.
A Peaceful Haven
Hillside Cottage really is a peaceful haven. Set above the unique, historical and friendly town of Wirksworth in Gorsey Bank. Every detail of this little cottage has been lovingly thought out by Tiina and Jonathan. From comfortable throws on the bed to beautiful orchids on windowsills and the user-friendly high quality kitchen. I chose this cottage for a working holiday for 3 weeks, which proved to be a brilliant decision. I was able to write by the woodburner, at the little lounge table looking outside and down in the courtyard garden. The garden is packed with flowers and has stunning views of the nearby hills. Everyone who lives around the cottage is really friendly and made me feel so welcome. So if you're looking for a real getaway - enjoy walking up proper hills - stunning views - benefiting from a unique town 15 minutes walk away - this place is for you! Thank you Tiina and Jonathan, I look forward to staying at Hillside Cottage again soon.
