About susan flynn
We are Sue and Sean Flynn and we have just purchased the beautiful Villa Sultaniye. We have been visiting Kalkan for about 12 years and are lucky enough to have several Kalkan properties already, all wonderful apartments so we are delighted to have a villa too. We currently live in the UK and visit Kalkan 4-5 times in and out of the season. Hopefully in the future we will be fortunate enough to be able to spend longer periods of time in this wonderful location.

Great villa in good location
The villa is very well appointed in excellent condition - master bedroom is huge and all bedrooms have their own private shower room. Great views over the bay and walking distance, or in Turkey's heat a short taxi ride for 15 Lira (£2.50), from the centre, or Kalkan Regency Hotel and Korsan Suites very close by offer good food and drink with friendly, helpful staff, especially Memouh at Korsan Suites. There's plenty of space to sit out by the large pool and air conditioning in all rooms works well. The WiFi works well in all rooms and even outside and over the road! It's not as fast as our home broadband but I did manage to get NetFlix to work occasionally with my FireStick, although there is a DVD player and good selection of DVDs. Sue is responsive to requests and Samet is on hand to deal quickly with any issues. The pool was checked and cleaned every morning with the bins emptied daily and we were surprised to find the villa cleaned with fresh sheets and towels midway through our week. I can throughly recommend Kalkan and Villa Sarafin.
Thank you very much for taking the time to review the villa and your holiday. It is so appreciated as I know how busy it is when you get home! So pleased you enjoyed your stay. Thanks again, Sue x
I stayed for 4 nights and 5 days during the week of October 7th. This is a wonderful property with abundant space and stunning views from all rooms. The first-floor porch and pool make it hard to leave the property! When you do leave, you are a short walk away from Kalkan's many excellent shops and restaurants. The owners of the property are always in touch to assist with any of the guests needs and a Kalkan-based manager is also available for immediate assistance. I would highly recommend staying at this property on your next trip to Kalkan.
Thank you so much Kevin for taking the time to review Villa Sarafin. I am delighted you enjoyed the property as much as we do and of-course it’s location. Thanks again, Sue and Sean
A lovely week in a beautiful Villa
We spent a week in Villa Sarafin during August. We were expecting a villa of high standard and we were not disappointed. The villa is beautiful, very spacious and furnished to a very high quality and equipped with everything you could possibly need! Little touches like pool & beach towels were appreciated and a beautiful fragrance throughout!! Sue the owner was lovely to correspond with and the management team locally were fantastic and always on hand! Would definitely recommend and hopefully will return!
Thank you so much Michele, we are absolutely delighted that you enjoyed your stay at Villa Sarafin. I am pleased you liked having the beach towels etc, makes a big difference I know. Thanks once again and your review is really appreciated.
Stunning views in an ideal location.
Villa Sarafin is situated in an ideal location close to the Kalkan Regency Hotel. The sea views are spectacular yet it is an easy level walk into town. It is full of light, spacious, well equipped and very clean. We found Samet and his team to be excellent managers and were always available and quick to respond to any enquiry. We enjoyed a very happy and relaxing stay and wholeheartedly recommend this lovely Villa. Thank you Sue and Sean for your excellent communication throughout.
Thank you so much for your response, we really appreciate it. I am delighted you enjoyed your stay and of-course the villa. As you say it is so light and spacious and Samet and hs helpful team are a real asset. Thanks again and we look forward to welcoming you in the future.
5 star holiday
Beautiful villa with plenty to do and see in the area. Samet and the staff were excellent. Thoroughly enjoyable holiday.
What a beautiful villa, large enough for our family and it contained everything we wanted, finished to a high standard. Location was great for us, not too far away from the centre of Kalkan (about 15 mins stroll), but far enough out to be very quiet. There are a few shops closer for essentials. All rooms and en suites are a good size and the views over the bay are fabulous. Samet looked after us very well even transferring us on departure day to our day apartment. Kalkan itself is a lovely village, people were great and so many restaurants (at very reasonable prices) that we were never stuck for choice. No bars/pubs to speak of, everything revolves around restaurants and a gentle laid back atmosphere. Thankfully no groups of 18-30s let's hope Kalkan stays just as it is and I would definitely recommend this villa. The weather was extremely hot, some days 37 degrees, thank goodness for air con through out the villa. Not sure what it must be like in the peak season so take your factor 50! Thanks also to owner for all the help sorting out airport transfers/baby cot, everything was there on time and at a good standard. All in all a great holiday, we'll be back :)
Hi Jackie, thanks so much for the review, it is very much appreciated. We know how busy it gets once you have returned home. We are delighted you enjoyed Kalkan so much and of-course that you loved Villa Sarafin. We still love Kalkan after so many years for all the reasons you mention from the laid back vibe of the Old Town to the first class restaurants. We would love to welcome you back any time. Many thanks again, Sue and Sean
Kalkan Beach is approx 10 minutes walk. As this is a pebbly beach, beach shoes are recommended. There are ample sunbeds and shade available and a refreshment area. Patara Beach with its beautiful 18km of white sand is only a 20 minute drive or taxi ride away. There are also many fabulous beach clubs in Kalkan that provide sunbeds, water sport facilities, bar/restaurants, spa/treatments. Some you can walk to and others a short, free water taxi will take you. Kaputas Beach is also close by.
Throughout the year there are direct flights to the modern Dalaman airport. Here, you can either hire a car or I can arrange a private transfer for you. The trip takes 1 hr 30 mins and is a very pretty journey with breathtaking scenery with amazing views. Dalaman also has a brand new terminal providing a plethora of duty free shopping, cafés and eateries.
There are many places to visit. Kalkan village and harbour are only an easy 5 minute walk. Kas is 20 mins drive or Fethiye app 1 hr. Taxis are very cheap. Patara beach, sited as one of the world’s top beaches, with its 18km of long isolated golden, unspoilt sands is only 15 mins away. Other places include Saklikent Gorge; Kaya (Greek ghost town, subject of Louis de Berniere's 'Birds without Wings'); Kekova; Lycian rock tombs; Xanthos; Letoon; Pinara and Tlos. All are within easy reach of Kalkan.
Kalkan is a small fishing village with winding cobbled streets and alleyways, which has expanded gradually over recent years. The ancient old town retains its original character, surrounded by the awesome Taurus mountains. At its centre lies the harbour with a mix of local fishing craft, traditional gulets and visiting yachts.
There is a wealth of superb restaurants, the best to be had in coastal Turkey and for which Kalkan is most famous. Here you will find menus to suit all pockets and tastes. These are mainly situated along the harbour front or on roof terraces offering excellent views over the sea, superb fresh fish and seafood. A wonderful evening can be enjoyed in a relaxing ambience soaking up the atmosphere of the village at night. Many of these restaurants feature annually in reports provided by national newspapers in the UK. Although sophisticated and chic, these have still retained their Turkish charm. Shops are very good quality with a range of merchandise available from arts and crafts to ‘designer’ handbags. There is a range of boutique style bag shops that hold many bargains compared to UK prices. There is also an excellent weekly Thursday market providing many opportunities for bargain hunting from t-shirts and jeans to spices and local farmer’s food produce. There are three banks with ATM machines close to the apartment as well as very well stocked supermarkets.
Booking Notes: There is a 25% non-refundable deposit to confirm your booking (£200 minimum). The balance is payable 12 weeks before departure as well as a returnable £200 breakages deposit (or a £20 fee to waive the breakage deposit). Deposit is returned after clearance with local agent. No pets allowed. Smoking inside the property is not permitted. Changeover Day: Changeover day is flexible, though please check with owner as this needs to fall in line with existing bookings.
