Coach House in Mere, Wiltshire, England (near Dorset and Somerset borders) - Good Location For Day Trips To Surrounding Counties
About Helen Watts
Helen works in the performing arts as a director and writer, and Brian is an architect.
Helen Watts purchased this Cottage in 2000
Why Helen Watts chose Mere
Originally from Shaftesbury we were looking for our first home together. When we bought Long Hill House no one had lived in the nearby coach house since the coachman and coach (mud floors, hayloft etc). It took us three years to extend and convert - and we love it!
What makes this Cottage unique
It's a home from home close to lots of attractions.

Lovely cottage and warm welcome from Helen.
We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely cottage. The beds are very comfortable, which is quite rare in a holiday let! The kitchen had everything we needed, so all in all it was perfect for us. Thank you!
Quiet and Quaint!
We were pleased to see how clean and easy the property was. Everything was in good working order and very efficient heating system which we used. Very comfortable beds too. The only thing was a disappointing shower system- just a head over the bath.
We really enjoyed our stay. We had a very warm welcome and the cottage was comfy and exactly what we wanted.
Relaxing comfortable home
Helen was so welcoming and amenable to the children. It is a lovely property for either adults or families - not too prissy and perfect so you darent touch anything or really relax. Great to get up on Castle Hill and see the goats. Town is accessible without a car and many local walks again without needing to use a car. Hillbrush cafe -very close- was good for lunch and child friendly. Thanks for the onion plants Julia. Thought I may get them but they have gone back to Milton Keynes with the girls
We had a wonderful stay at this property.
Great location - close to many English heritage sites and an easy walk to local restaurants and food coop. We highly recommend the property.
Owner was great to work with. Provided all the needed supplies. Rooms were comfy and warm. We will stay here again if we are in the area.
The property was nicely laid out and had everything we needed.
We had a wonderful stay, the property was close to the village and the off road parking was a bonus. The beds were also very comfortable.
