We have lived in France since 2001 with our two children, who have both at University in the UK. We live on site, and in the summer it tends to be the two of us, plus our playful very friendly dog Dottie who is a lab Griffon cross, and two cats Daisy and Scratch. We are happy to offer advice and recommendation to make your holiday perfect but also aware that this is your holiday so are discrete.
Louise Little purchased this farmhouse in 2001
When we purchased the house it needed complete renovation but what attracted us to it was the amazing position, at the end of a no through lane. Almost 360 degrees of stunning view overlooking the Lot et Garonne/ Dordogne border. Over the last 15 years we have sympathetically restored the property into a beautiful home, retaining many original features.
We took the roof off the original barn plus one of the walls and now have the swimming pool inside, protected from the wind it offers shade and has gates on all entrances.
The property is in a secluded spot offering privacy and peace, with stunning views.
We had an absolutely lovely holiday. The whole package is probably best we have stayed in - great location, lovely surroundings and within easy reach of some
cute villages and the more popular Dordoyne destinations. House is great, with a lovely blend of old and new, very spacious, well equipped, with four great bedrooms, massive living room and lovely "eat in" kitchen ( not that we ate inside). The outside space is fantastic with a covered outside dining area, several other sitting out places so you can be in the sun all day. And then of course there is a pool, big enough to swim, but great for sunbathing, with loads of shade provided by the walls and large umbrella.
We did some cycling, with quiet undulating country roads - but get out early cos it gets hot. We are paddled on the Dordoyne, ate out a couple of times and visited some of the local places. Local Supermarket was well stocked so we ate in lots - with loads of fresh veg and plenty of local wines.
Finally Louise and Lance we lovely hosts, always on hand when you needed them, but never intrusive. We hardly ever go back to the same place but the temptation to return will be huge.
My family (3 kids) and parents stayed for very enjoyable week. The house is well equipped; very comfortable with a wonderful terrace with stunning views. We enjoyed BBQ most nights with great locally sourced food! The pool is a real highlight, cleverly enclosed to offer some shade from the sun and any breeze. Louise and Lance were perfect hosts - on hand for advice and local tips and so discreet you would not know they are there! Would love to come back.
We spent a lovely 2 weeks at La Catusse. The house is beautiful, spacious and very well equipped. The pool and outside space are great,in the heart of fantastic countryside yet within easy access of numerous little towns with markets, bakeries, restaurants etc.The owners Louise and Lance were very helpful. We would definitely like to visit again and highly recommend.
