House in Camps Bay, Cape Town, South Africa - Peaceful Location, 5 minute drive to the beach

The house was architect designed 10 years ago with a huge, double height living area on the top floor to take advantage of the all round views. The decor is modern African using local woods and modern furniture. The back garden has a variety of local fynbos (native plants) and a paved sitting area with garden furniture while at the front there is a very large paved terrace overlooking the ocean with barbecue and garden furniture, dining table and 6 chairs. A new garage is integral with direct access to the house. Full alarm system.

Why Averil Bills chose Atlantic Seaboard Cape Town

The Camps Bay location was so stunning that we walked into the house and fell in love with the property. It is still as magical as the first time we saw it. Sunsets over the sea are sensational and behind the house, the clouds tumbling over Table Mountain and the red glow over the Twelve Apostles in the evening are beautiful. On one side of the property the Oudekraal Nature Reserve stretches down to the sea and is covered in local fynbos (native plants). The house is perfectly designed because in the morning you can take breakfast on the private front patio as the sun comes over Table Mountain and then in the afternoon, sunbathe on the terrace at the back overlooking the sea. There is always a cool side and a hot side.

What makes this house unique

The element of relaxation is unequalled. You can read, listen to music on a great sound system or watch satellite television in wonderful peace. Yet if you want to go into Cape Town, it is just a 10 minute drive down into the city centre so it is wonderfully convenient. Camps Bay beachfront with its chic restaurants, bars, cafes, supermarket and theatre is only a 3 minute drive. Truly the best of both worlds.

One of the most splendid views I have seen from any house, simply breathtaking. Superbly furnished, dining area very attractive. The huge balcony overlooking the ocean is the best place to watch the sun go down with a glass of red wine and a braai (Stephen Nell, SA journalist).

This well appointed holiday home has greeted us on both our visits with its warmth and welcoming atmosphere. From the lounge/dining room its beautiful location commands magnificent views of Table Mountain. Notes on accommodation: The dining room table seats 6. The leather sofas seat 6-8 people. The top floor has a solid wood floor, the stairs and bedrooms are carpeted. There is an alarm connected to a local security company which is 3 minutes away. All furniture is new and modern and there is African artwork. Many guide books and reading material. Outside: The back garden has fynbos planting with grasses and a paved area with a round table and four metal chairs. The large front terrace has a sofa, two armchairs, glass coffee table and four sun loungers as well as a dining table with 6 chairs. There is also a gas/coal barbecue here. There is also a patio outside the bedrooms on the bottom floor. There is a new integral garage. Utility Room: A washing machine and dryer are located on the top floor off the shower room. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and bed linen are included and an extra set of linen is available for stays of more than one week. The property is cleaned before and after each stay but maid service can be arranged more often for a small additional charge. Other: A study with large desk for working and a mezzanine platform with futon bed which can be brought down to the study if needed.

Perfect location for a family holiday

Stayed here with our (grown-up) family of 6 over new year - couldn't recommend more highly. Lovely house & location, well managed & very helpful advice prior to trip. 20 minute walk down to the beach, where there are plenty of bars & restaurants; 10 minute walk to the Hussar Grill where we had probably the best steak any of us had ever tasted. Easy drives to Waterfront (20 mins), Table Mountain cable car (5 mins), Newlands (20 mins), Constantia vineyards (30 mins), Boulder Beach (45 mins) etc. You can even walk up Table Mountain from the front door !

Wonderful house in Camps Bay

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at this lovely house in Camps Bay. The views are incredible, with beautiful views of the sea from all the rooms and the large patios, and stunning views of the mountain up above from the living room. One can stay at home and yet feel a part of nature outside. The house is also very comfortable to stay in, with all the amenities, and very well cared for, plus stylishly decorated. We were here over Christmas and could have a lovely family gathering, eating at the large dining table, and having drinks out on the patio. I thoroughly recommend staying at this unique home!

This house is to die for, the views front, back and side are lovely, it's ashame the property below is not so well looked after, but you soon forget that. The house is appointed to a very high standard and is very comfortable, smart rooms, nice beds and bathrooms. The experience was memorable and everything went as expected. This is our way to holiday from now on.

Half a mile to Camps Bay beach or 5 minutes by car, 20 minutes on foot. The famous beaches of Clifton (1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th) are half a mile further on but can be walked to from Camps Bay. The beaches are all white sand and never too crowded. The beach at Hout Bay is 15 minutes by car as are the secluded beaches at Llandudno. There are public swimming pools at Sea Point, a few minutes drive from the house.


Cape Town International Airport is 25 minutes by car/taxi with not too much traffic and it's a easy drive. A car is highly recommended though there is a new local bus service which is very comprehensive. Driving is on the left and all the major hire car companies are represented at the airport.


Cape Town city centre is 3 miles, Constantia 6 miles, Simonstown 24 miles, Stellenbosch 32 miles, Cape Point 40 miles, Franschoek 52 miles. Many vineyards at Wellington, Stellenbosch and Paarl are within an hour's drive.

Further Details:

Camps Bay itself has a Pick & Pay supermarket, many excellent restaurants, boutiques, bars and cafes, Post Office, ATMs and theatre. There is a small general store and very good steakhouse (The Hussar Grill) 2 minutes drive from the house. Larger supermarkets and a big range of shops can be found in nearby Sea Point. Several wine farms with great restaurants can be found in Constantia and many more towards Wellington/Paarl and around Stellenbosch and Franschoek. The famous Kirstenbosch botanical gardens are 12 miles away and hold concerts on Sunday evenings in summer. Cape Town's Victoria & Alfred Waterfront development is only 10 minutes away by car with many restaurants round the harbour and an excellent shopping centre with multiplex cinema. A few miles out of Cape Town is Century City, one of the largest shopping centres in South Africa with around 400 shops, cinemas, restaurants etc. There is a public swimming pool at Sea Point, 10 minutes drive away.

Normally Saturday to Saturday but we can be flexible depending on time of year and bookings. Depart by 10am, arrive by 3pm but this can be flexible, again depending on bookings.
