I live in Malta and love to go to relax in our apartment in Gozo whenever it is not booked. I simply love it and so will you !!
Gozo voted as the Med's best diving destination, and boasting of :
Excellent walking trails,
An unparalleled combination of modern life in perfect harmony with tradition,
Awesome beaches and off the beaten track crystal clear water swimming havens,
UNESCO recognized heritage sites
Mouthwatering cuisine to die for,
Great pubs, restaurants and La Grotta open air nightclub - which the Miami Herald called 'the most beautiful disco in the world'.
Regular village fiestas, wine festivals, historical re enactments
And probably the friendliest people on earth.
It's rather difficulty NOT to have a good time in Gozo whatever your taste.
Bernadette Attard purchased this apartment in 2010
Misrah Simar is located in Qala, on Gozo, the smaller sister island of Malta. The quite and relax atmosphere that prevails can sometimes make one forget that it is situated just under a km away from the village main square with it's great pubs and restaurants. All the basic amenities are also located within walking distance and the fact that a regular bus service runs through the village, to Victoria ( Gozo's capital town ) and Mgarr Harbour, with a bus stop just 200 mtrs away, makes Misrah Simar ideal. Even if you are planning to come to Gozo to dive, there is a diving school within a couple of minutes drive away.
The apartment has been furnished with modern furniture which creates an excellent paradox with the limestone finished walls, so typical of Gozo. The terrace is facing the pool and sunbathing common area with awesome country views, and provide the ultimate relaxation mood to sit back and enjoy some typical Gozitan delicacy, flushed down with award winning wines from the local vineyards.
A shallow children's pool and a deep pool , together with a jacuzzi are tucked away a few meters below the countryside level, providing an excellent sunbathing area, shielded from the Northwestern wind.
The apartment has all the necessary equipment to make your stay comfortable and more. Cable TV, CD and DVD player, washing machine, fridge / freezer, WIFI, and ceiling fans in ALL rooms.
We also have a cot for a baby or toddler up to 2 yrs.
A high chair and potty are also available.
"Very Relaxed atmosphere...Just what we needed for our two week break. WE found Misrah Simar excellent value for money " Paul & Margie . UK Summer 2012
" We had a wicked time at Simar. Looking forward to return for some more Gozo diving " Jeff, Johann , Christina & Julia UK , Italy and Germany
Very spacious, luxury apartment, can't wait to go back.
We spent the most beautiful two weeks in aprt. Gozo is fantastic island to explore, we all fall in love in Gozo. Aprt is excellent, with everythink what you need to enjoy your stay, brilliant location ( not far from the sea and local shops and restaurants). Bernadette (the owner) was very friendly, always ready to help us.
We highly recommend this aprt to everyone :) .
Thank you for the best holiday in our lives. Hope we’ll come again one day :)
We are a family of six with four children aged 9,8,5 and 3. After much research we decided on Gozo for our holiday destination this summer and we were not disappointed. We were looking for an island retreat that was a peaceful respite from our busy lives and we found it!
Gozo has it all; beautiful weather, gorgeous beaches, fantastic snorkelling, delicious cuisine, delectable wine and many sites of natural beauty and historical interest to visit. We particularly enjoyed visiting San Blas, Ramla bay, the Ggantija temples and the Azure Window. At the Azure Window, however, my advice would be head to the inland sea and take a boat trip through the caves to the open sea. We went in search of Dwejra bay only to find it was very unsuitable for young children.
We spent a day on Malta and went on the south hop-on-hop-off bus tour and the harbour cruise but found it rather too much to do in one day so would probably just explore the capital, Valetta, if we had our time again.
We also visited Comino. The Blue Lagoon was as gorgeous as all the guide books tell you but it was ridiculously overcrowded! People were packed in like sardines on the tiny beach. We ventured round the island and found a lovely cove that was great for snorkelling with the children and went back to swim in the Blue Lagoon when all the crowds had gone. We also enjoyed seeing the caves on the way home.
Gozitan people are extremely friendly, welcoming and kind. They show great affection for children and we never once felt intimidated.
The apartments at Misrah Simar surpassed all our expectations. The building has a luxurious feel to it and the apartment was very spacious with everything we needed, a real home from home. The pool is lovely with something for everyone, a deep pool, a shallow pool and a jacuzzi. It was never crowded and we often had it to ourselves. We particularly liked the fact that we could swim late at night, so we could come back from an excursion and jump into the pool to cool off!
We were well looked after both by the owners and their contact person in Gozo, who regularly checked in on us to see if they could help us in any way or advise us on any trips we might like to do without being intrusive.
My only complaint is that the holiday was over too soon! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this apartment or Gozo in general to anyone. We will definitely be back!
Special interest holidays:
Gozo has been voted as the Mediterranean's best diving site two years in a row.
There are several diving schools and several diving sites both for beginners and experienced divers.
There is also an increasing interest in rock climbing.
Gozo is the middle sized island of the Maltese archipelago and depends on Malta for all its tourism connections. Thus getting here requires either flying in or ferrying over to Malta and then boarding the ferry to Gozo. It may sound a bit complicated But actually its simple and really enjoyable !
Several airlines operate regular flights to / from Malta including also Malta's own national carrier Airmalta and several low cost airlines as well.
A very modern and fast catamaran service operates daily to / from Sicily , whilst other sea connections are on a regular schedule with several Mediterranean ports.
Getting to Gozo from Malta
The only way to get to Gozo at present is by ferry from Cirkewwa which is the furthest northern point of Malta. This ferry time is just a 25 minute trip and is operated by Gozo Channel Co. Ltd. Passenger and vehicle service is provided all year round including Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays
Qala is the laid back small ( approx population is 1600 persons ) traditional village located just a few km away Gozo's main port Mgarr, where the ferry to / from Malta operates from. Still the capital town Victoria and other villages and tourist attractions are just a few minutes drive away given the Gozo's size. Qala represents the ultimate place to unwind and relax without being cut-off from amenities that you require for a perfect holiday. Amongst the important attractions within Qala and it's surroundings , are :
The Belveder ...with breathtaking unobstructed views of the Malta / Comino / Gozo channel, including the Blue Lagoon.
The popular Hondoq Ir Rummien & Dahlet Qorrot Bays
St. Anthony’s Battery (1732), known locally as it-Trunciera. which was the works of the Knights of Malta.
The Village parish church and the Madonna tal Blat chapel.
The natural cave called Ghar Minka which is accessible only by boat.
Although Qala is a quiet laid back village with just 1500 ( approx. ) residents, it still has all the required amenities that you will require during your stay including :
Diving School ( www.divebluewaters.com )
Restaurants & Pizzerias ( Ta Kaputa, Ta Vestru, 22 Four Tapas and Ta Wileg amongst others )
Pubs ( Try Zeppi's in the main square for some great Friday evening jamming sessions )
