A spacious villa with a fence around the property and a beautiful wooden gate. Only few minutes from the beach and set in a quiet neighbourhood. The bedroom balconies are overlooking the backyard were you will find a polished cement patio with a dining area, a built in BBQ, work space, a huge dining table and seating area! A relaxing place to have breakfast and dinners or to entertain friends. The front garden is green, lush and full of flowers and a lily pond.
We are a Norwegian/Sri Lankan married couple. Most of the time we live in Sri Lanka! But we do love to travel and therefor are not at the house all year around
The house was finished built in 2010. Since then we have spent the time trying to give the house and the garden some personality and charm.
We have created the house we wanted to stay in and we hope it will feel like a home to you too.
We had one of our best hoidays ever at Olu Villa and we hope to come back to stay there again soon. It was wonderful to come back to the tranquility of the house and beautiful garden after the noise and bustle of Galle or even the local beaches, which are also some of the finest we have excperienced. It was so easy to get a tuk-tuk to take us anywhere we wanted. Nina's family made us very welcome and ensured we had everything we needed. We arranged for them to cook us meals on alternative evenings and they certainly gave us some delicious Sri Lankan cuisine. Also we enjoyed good food in many of the local restaurants.
This is a beautiful and peaceful villa set in a quiet area and lovely gardens.
The house is very well equipped, spacious and comfortable, which is perfect for the climate. It is near the beach, Galle, and very good restaurants.
The host family kept the villa clean and were a great source of local information, also provided one of the best Sri Lankan meals we ate cooked by the host family themselves - a real treat!
The whole family, including 2 girls (19 and 16) loved the experience, did not want to leave and would come back - need I say more!
Plenty of space inside and out to spread out ... sitting outdoors and watching the monkeys pass through the trees in the back was fun!
Quiet location, a 20 minute walk to the beach or into the local countryside. We felt safe and liked being away from the busy street life nearer the beach. Big kitchen with anything you needed to prepare your own meals, or have Anoula prepare her delicious curries!
We had the pleasure to stay in this wonderful villa for a week in October, 2 adults and 2 children age 11 and 8 and are already planning a return trip! We booked this villa very last minute by emailing the owner in a panic who was so kind calling us from Norway and sorting the villa ready for us in the space of an hour. A beautiful, stylish villa that had everything , beach towels, washing machine and every kitchen utensil you could imagine. It really felt like we were in a hidden little secret garden somewhere. Our children loved the garden hunting for frogs and bugs and planned early morning walks to the nearby Mangroves with the father of the owners, which they absolutely loved. We would normally go for accomadation with a pool but we didn't miss this at all as the sea is so close and we also went to a few nearby small hotels and paid 500 rps to use the pools for the day. Having all the gorgeous areas with comfy, brightly coloured cushions scattered everywhere for relaxing inside and outside of the villa and having space to relax outweighed a pool for us. Yummy curries cooked by the family if organised in advance is a must. The lovely big table outside was our special area to eat breakfast and plan our days. We absolutely loved this villa.
Three of us (inc a teenager) had the pleasure of staying in this fantastic villa...in fact I am sitting in the lush garden listening to birdsong and other wonderful noises as I type!
The host family are most welcoming and we very much felt at home here. The villa is indeed much better than the photos show, also very spacious and very tastefully decorated. It is very well maintained and our hosts were at hand to do the garden, give us fresh king coconut to drink and lots of little extras that made our stay all the more memorable. Though they live nearby they were not at all intrusive but were available if there was anything we needed. Very good location....it is very peaceful and tranquil but a short tuk tuk ride from the beach and various restaurants etc
Also we sent a small shopping list and the items were bought prior to our arrival which was very helpful to have the basics at hand without having to find a shop.
We were provided with lots of information and also we were lucky enough to sample a typical Sri Lankan breakfast as well as several amazing curries made for us by them. Just make sure you have a healthy appetite as the portions are beyond generous.
I would highly recommend staying here....the only negative is we are not staying longer :( but will certainly be back!!
Thanks for having us and for making our stay a most wonderful one!!!
My husband and I stayed at this gorgeous villa for four nights after our wedding, and I cannot rate it highly enough. The house itself is modern and clean (and huge! Gigantic kitchen with an oven, and a huge bathroom!) and Nina's family, who live very close, were incredibly welcoming and helpful - bringing us food when we arrived, and treating us to things like string hoppers and coconuts. They will also cook you rice and curry if you give them notice, but we didn't end up doing this, instead choosing to go out and about.
The house is not on the beach, but is situated near enough (it's a 5 minute tuk tuk ride) that it's no issue at all getting around. You can just call the tuk tuk driver and go. There's a supermarket at the top of the road if you need extra supplies, and the place feels very safe and lovely. It was just the two of us, but you could comfortable have another couple, or a couple of kids, and still feel like the place is massive. The WiFi was excellent, and there's a TV to keep you occupied on rainy days :)
I would 100% stay there again if I ever ended up back in the area. From start to finish it was a very easy process. Thanks for having us!
