Enjoyed our stay here

We stayed in Ken and Maria's place in October 2017 and were very pleased with our time there. The accommodation was attractive, clean, quiet and comfortable and the parking was very conveniently located at the front door of the building. The area where the apartment is located is pleasant and reasonably close to the town centre. A bonus was the excellent little snack bar/restaurant right on the premises, which was handy and a great value. Overall we would highly recommend this property and the lovely community of Lagos and would return here ourselves.

Great location

This location is great. Just a short 15 min. walk to the historic area through a neighborhood that is very quiet. Also a 20 minute walk to the beach. The property is very well kept and clean. The photos are representative of the property. A mechado is just a short walk away and has everything you will ever need. We drove there most of the time because we bought more than we cloud carry. A fuel stop is also very close. The property manager Alice was extremely helpful. The one drawback is the trash bins are down the street and you either drive it to the bins or walk it there. I would recommend this property.

spacious home from home.

This a very comfortable and well presented apartment. Nice balcony too with a sea view but you are overlooked but we never felt too 'exposed' It is in a residential area so does not have holiday let feel. We had a car so it was easy to get to the centre and beach. Without a car it is a bit of a walk uphill. Very well equipped and everything provided. it is the location which prevented it gaining 5 stars.

Not recommendable due to cleanliness

On our arrival we found the apartment in an unacceptable condition in terms of minimum cleanness and hygiene standards.

Major objections:

1. Kitchen

- The coffee machine was totally dirty with a semi-composted coffee filter from (hopefully) the last guests.

- Food scraps in the sink from last supper of previous guests.

- Food scraps in microwave and at the dishes in drawers!

- Mold and leftovers in the fridge

- A cabinet full of partly used cornflakes, noodles and whatsoever. Age unknown.

- All kitchen utensils practically unusable because sticky, greasy and/or afflicted with visible food scraps.

2. Bathrooms

- Sink, shower and bathtub joints covered with mold. Dirt and hair everywhere.

3. Bedrooms

- Sand and thick layer of dust on the floor. Sand in the cabinets and drawers.

- About 1/3 of the bedroom cabinets are crammed with sheets, blankets and other textiles partially stuffed into plastic bags. The smell of old sweat suggests that it is at least partly not cleaned laundry or lying there for years.

Even though the property manager tried to fix our major complaints in a 1h cleaning session, the overall cleanness situation of the apartment was still intolerable and leads us even to the decision to leave the apartment already a week earlier than actually booked. -First time ever on all of our travels.

In the meantime, we restricted the use of the apartment to a minimum and waived on e.g. the use of the kitchen as far as possible.

Fortunately we know local people who could help on short notice to get a clean apartment for our remaining stay in Lagos.

All the quoted complaints with corresponding photos have been submitted to the apartment owners at once.

However aside from some general apologies no actual compensation has been offered by the owners for the inconveniences caused.

In a summary the cleanliness of the apartment could have been a fact of the past, but unfortunately far from the situation we found at present.

Owner's Response: We take pride in our apartment and in offering our guests the best possible stay. We are saddened by the negative experience. Most of the issues were addressed by our property manager soon after arrival. All issues were rectified soon after the guests departure. We have had many positive reviews and continue to get guests going back year after year. This is our first experience with such a negative outcome. Not to my standards

The area wasn't to bad building site next door. We got out and about as much as possible I have to be honest here the apartment wasn't very comfortable bed difficult to sleep in...I could go on but really no point.

Great, clean, spacious, modern apartment in a great location!

Thank you Ken and Marie! We had such a wonderful stay! Your home is so lovely -- bright, spacious, modern and clean. We couldn't have asked for more! It was also the perfect location for walking to the old town and the beach. The local restaurants were great and we felt very safe walking around (even at night). Looking forward to a return visit!

Enjoy the sunny and white sandy beaches of historic and beautiful Lagos. Situated in the Algarve region of Portugal, only a short distance from the south westernmost tip, Sagres. Take a trip up Monchique Mountain for a spectacular view of the area. Maybe you want to enjoy a game of golf with awesome sea views. The apartment is close to all amenities including shopping, take-away food places, coffee shops and a private hospital. Only a few minutes by car to several beaches and walking distance to historic down town.

Golf: Numerous Golf Courses nearby, the closest one being Boa Vista. A fabulous course with spectacular views and reasonable rates.
