Set mid-way up Skye’s west coast, our 1920’s whitewashed croft cottage is uniquely situated, the last cottage out onto the Ardtreck peninsular. Set in fields under a granite bluff splashed with purple heather, with glimpse views of the sea just minutes walk away. I've seen seals, otters and even a Minke Whale while fishing for mackerel off the lighthouse. Here you are really living in nature, whether relaxing in the cottage, or step out of the living room French doors onto the deck and sit at the picnic table with view of the sea and outer Hebrides, or feel snug in the summer house also with glimpse sea view, perfect for relaxing out of the wind with a drink and nibbles in the evening, or just out and about on the headland. The 20 minute walk to the lighthouse on the tip of the peninsular is a spectacular and invigorating treat in wild weather and calm sunshine alike. Enjoy feeling away from it all without being too remote, with two pubs and some of the best live music on the west coast, a well stocked village shop for fuel and supplies, even Talisker distillery to visit, all within a ten minute drive. Many beautiful walks, hillside, coastal, beaches and the Cuillin are all at your doorstep.

About Mr Graham Stevenson
We live in Beirut and bought the cottage in 2007 after a holiday on Skye in 2002, and a long search to find the right cottage for us, and we hope for you. It is our home on our brief visits to the UK, and we hope will feel like your home for the time that you are there. I am English and a Landscape Architect, my wife Neda is a Lebanese Architect, our daughter Zalfa is 21 and our son Nessim 24. The profile photo shows Neda and Zalfa enjoying a rare (for us) walk in the rain to the lighthouse, always a treat no matter the weather..

Why Mr Graham Stevenson chose Isle of Skye
We wanted an escape from the hectic life in Beirut and had fallen in love with Skye from our first visit. The progression of arrival, first over Skye bridge or by ferry onto Skye, then driving first on fast main roads, then onto smaller single track roads onto Minginish peninsula, through Carbost to Portnalong, on to the dead end village road to Ardtreck point, and finally on croft tracks to the cottage, gives a very strong sense that you have arrived at the end of your journey, at the only place you want to be. The variety of destinations to venture out to, either by foot or by car from this location are many and varied. We usually stop at the supermarket in Broadford after arriving on the island and stock up for several days, so that the first day or so can be enjoyed without using the car.

Beautiful cottage in a perfect location for exploring Skye
The cottage has everything you need and the setting is beautiful. Highly recommend and would deffinately stay here again.
Just what we wanted - cosy and remote cottage!
The cottage was cosy and in a perfect location, slightly away from everything but not too far at the same time. The kitchen was very well stocked with equipment for self catering. The fire place was a perfect addition for the evenings. Graham was very helpful before arriving at the cottage and recommended us some good places to eat - the live music and food at the Old Inn was our favourite! Thanks again Graham.
Great Place to relax with no distructions!
Our stay was just great! We finally get a chance to catch up due to lack of distractions and no mobile network (vodafone and virgin). Cottage has all what we need to cook and to get around. We love fireplace.
Tryout amazing location and everything you need at the house and Graham the owner was so helpful thank you
Lovely, well appointed cottage, away from it all.
Just back from a great week away at 'The Cedars'. The cottage is in a great location, just a bit further along from Portnalong - it is on the more remote side of Skye, which is exactly what we were after. Local shop, pub and amenities were a 5-10 minute drive away. The cottage itself is very homely, and it's clear that the owners enjoy spending time there themselves. We enjoy our cooking, and we were impressed with how well appointed the kitchen was (something which can sometimes be lacking in self-catering acc.). The owners were very generous with heating, and it was constantly warm throughout our stay (also helped with drying out clothes after a full days walking!). We enjoyed the fact that there was no Wifi or TV at the cottage (incidentally, there's no mobile phone reception in the cottage either, you would need to walk up the driveway). Suited us perfectly, but can see that this wouldn't be for everyone. Cottage was a decent size too - there was only two of us, but can cater for four, no problem.
Overall, had a super time and would recommend it for anyone looking to explore the sights and Isle of Skye.
Wonderful homely place to stay off the beaten track.
Wonderful place to stay with our teenage boys. . . We specifically wanted a homely place and we got that at the Cedars. Off the beaten track, without wifi and clearly a home as well as a holiday cottage it suited us and our teenage boys perfectly. We easily got to all the places we wanted to visit and walk but felt comfortable and happy in this lovely cottage. Graham the owner was very helpful with information about fishing beforehand which was helpful for us. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting the simple life away from technology! It was great!
Coast/Beach: A 5 minute walk from the garden brings you to our nearest cove at a break in the low cliffs, and a 10 minute walk with a scramble down a steep path brings you to a larger cove and the low tide isthmus to a high free standing rock in the sea. The walk to the lighthouse takes 20 minutes from the garden, and the wide shell beach at Fiskavaig also takes around 20 minutes. The beaches at Talisker Bay and Glenbrittle are both around 25 minutes drive. Travel: There are flights to Inverness, Glasgow and Edinburgh. All airports have car hire nearby and the drive is around 3 hours to the cottage from Inverness, heading to Kyle of Lochalsh and over the bridge onto Skye, or 5 hours from Glasgow or Edinburgh, either driving to Kyle of Lochalsh and over the road bridge onto Skye, or book ahead of time on the ferry from Malaig to Armadale or from Glenelg to Kylerhea. It is also possible to arrive by train or bus to Kyle and Portree and then taxi or Hire Car. Distances: There is a pub and village hall in Portnalong, 5 minutes drive, and the nearest village with shop, clinic, pub and Talisker distillery is around 10 minutes drive. The island capital Portree is around 40 minutes drive, and Dunvegan Castle is around 30 minutes drive. The whole island offers a wealth of spectacular walks with a great variety of characters and views. Further Details: Our location combines the advantages of being relatively central on the island with being on the coast. Travel times are thus around the same to both northern and southern tips of the island (allow at least an hour in each case). All the west coast attractions, the Cuillin, Glenbrittle, Dunvagen Castle and village restaurants, and the fantastic walks up and views from the Macleods tables are only 30 minutes drive away. There is a good range of shops in Dunvegan, and full range of shops and supermarkets in Portree.
