Lavender Cottage Sleeps 2 (1 bedroom)
About Rachel Biggin
Cordwell Cottages form part of Cordwell Farm which has been farmed by the Biggin family since 1698. William and Janet live in the Farmhouse and William is always around on the farm, happy to show children (or adults) the animals or his vintage tractors! As it is a family business, the bookings are managed by Willliam and Janet's son and daughter in law who will be happy to answer any questions you may have. The Biggin family would love to welcome you to Cordwell Farm.

Thanks to Rachel for the welcoming Bakewell pudding, etc. It was enjoyable for us as horse/farm lovers to be in a cottage on a livery farm and see the riders and hear the clopping and neighing, and also be so close to the Peak District. The cottage itself is well appointed and spacious (the bed is firm), just on the outer edge of the cluster of buildings. For anyone with disabilities I should point out that the apparent front door in the picture is actually a decoration, and access is at the rear across several meters of crushed stone and up 4 not too high steps.
Quality and friendly- great base to explore from- Lavender Cottage
Good quality, very clean and comfortable. Delighted with the accommodation and setting. Peaceful location with the horses from the livery adding interest to the day, just outside the plentiful windows. The kitchen is very well equipped with a full size fridge/freezer, dishwasher and a good hob ( plus oven, toaster, microwave etc). There is a small courtyard area where you can sit out and BBQ, which still manages to feel private and tucked away. Well placed to visit Sheffield (we took the train from Dronfield, just 1 stop and 10 minutes), explored many areas of the varied the Derwent River valley with great walks less than a 10 minute drive away, only 20 minutes or so to beautiful walks from the Tideswell area. Plenty of walking from the door too. So much lovely countryside on the doorstep that we were spoilt for choice. We spent an interesting day at Chatsworth House and gardens. It is only a short drive to Chesterfield and easy enough to get to Matlock too. Non intrusive but very friendly owners. Made to feel very welcome. We would happily return and definitely recommend this accommodation to our friends and family.
So pleased to hear that you enjoyed it Dawn. We hope to welcome you back to Cordwell Farm sometime.
A superb stay in Lavender Cottage. The cottage is immaculate having only recently been converted to a high standard. Plenty of space for baby cot in the bedroom and for the little one to run around inside and explore the farm out. William and Janet were really helpful too. Only negative was it turns out our daughter is terrified of lambs!
Definitely keen to return some time.
