The apartment is in a 17th Century building and is owned by William’s family whose ancestors owned the English Pharmacy (Farmacia Inglese) on one of the main streets of Florence, via de’ Tornabuoni.
William’s grandparents left before the war and moved to England where they then set up many similar pharmacies in the City of London.
You can still see the Farmacia on via de’ Tornabuoni which has now been turned into a shoe shop, but all the original wooden display cabinets for the medicines and tinctures are still there.
We hope you will enjoy discovering this beautiful historic City and visit again.

Our Florence apartment was a perfect home away from home. Clean and well stocked kitchen. The bathroom has a terrific shower!! The dining and sleeping areas gave us our own personal space when needed. I felt safe since the neighborhood is surrounded by quality shops & hotels (2 Best Westerns right around the corner) which gave us a true sense of security. The little family owned market just across the street provided fresh fruits, vegetables, beverages, cheeses, & meats for home cooked meals when we did't want to eat out. What I liked most was we were close to all of the galleries & sites we wanted to see, and some we hadn't planned on seeing. Florence is an easy city to get around in. You can visit all of the famous museums & cathedrals on foot since our apartment was in close proximity everthing. Our host gave us excellent directions to get to the apt from the terminal and we were in there and comfotable just minutes after our train arrived in the station. I really loved visiting Florence and staying at 74 Borgo Ognisannti. It was my favorite apartment & city of our 24 day tour to Paris, Rome & Florence.

My wife and I came to Florence for a few days over St Valentines day. The apartment did not disappoint and was located close to the railway station and river with the Ponte Vecchio and Effizi within a few minutes walk along the river. We had a lovely stay. The apartment was perfect and contained anything we needed. Even though we were late arriving the lady who checked us in could not have been more helpful or welcoming.
There is a bakery downstairs and grocery shops, cash machine and wine shops all within a few yards of the front door. Although we relied on the vast array of superb restaurants and bars for most or our catering needs!
I cannot recommend this apartment highly enough. We had a fantastic time.
My husband and I stayed for 3 nights in October 16. Very close to the train station which is great especially if you plan to visit Pisa or other surrounding towns. The apartment is full of character and very Florentine in style. The area is great. We walked everywhere but still felt we were a little away from the touristy area. There are many great places to eat very close by. You may read some negative stuff about this apartment in other reviews and they have some merit. The shower is not the best etc BUT what do people want for this price. It is worth every cent to stay here and I can sum it up in one word...bed! The bed is beautiful, comfortable, cosy and hard to leave! At the end of the day, that is all you really want! Watch the steep staircase leading to the apartment and make sure you use the lights to see your way up. Highly recommend this apartment.
Enjoyed our stay, the bed was comfortable but not the sofa bed , we moved the mattress onto the floor fora better nights sleep. Overall I recommend staying there. My only issue was with the cleaning lady, we were to be out but 10:30 we were all packed and just finishing breakfast when she arrived.. Her bogey language said was not very happy that we were still there. We left at 10:37, even hotels are a bit more understanding and flexible. 7 minutes come on.
Great contact,communication and experience.
We stayed for eighteen days and found everything about the apartment to be perfect. Everything was as described. It was also cleaned during our stay. We could walk everywhere; it is located five minutes from the station and fifteen minutes from Ponte Vecchio, Uffizi Gallery and Palazza Petti. The street was filled with small businesses which satisfied all our needs; restaurants, small supermarkets, bakeries, bars. The apartment was comfortable and perfect for a couple exploring Florence.
My husband and I stayed in this apartment for 3 nights. It's in a perfect area, far enough away from the throngs of tourists. We fell in love with Il Profeta, the wonderful restaurant across the street. We'd read the reviews about noise possibly being an issue so we brought our sound machine from home! Really if you shut the windows, noise wasn't a problem for us at all. In fact, our first night there we slept so well that when we woke up it was past lunch time and we'd slept 14 hours! The bed is very cozy, obviously.
It was so nice opening the window and shutters in the dining area and gazing down at all the activity on the street.
There were only a couple issues. In the bathroom, when sitting on the commode, you have to shift your legs to the side as the shower is right there. Unfortunately the towels smelled a bit sour, likely due to the fact there is no dryer. Really the good outweighed those couple inconveniences.
Last but not least, Elisa is a gem! She talked us through finding the apartment as we were turned around. She had a big smile and was so helpful. We had to leave early due to a family emergency and Elisa was so sweet!
We will be back!
The apartment is on Borgo Ognissanti which is a couple of minutes from the River Arno and close to the famous Grand and Excelsior Hotels at Piazza Ognissanti. It is directly above a bakery which is convenient for buying fresh brioche in the mornings. Opposite is the highly recommended Il Profeta restaurant, which has fantastic food.
Santa Maria Novella train station is approximately five minutes walk from the apartment. We will send you a map showing the apartment location in the Centre of Florence when a rental inquiry is made.
There is a secure private car park available in the same street one minute from the apartment. You can walk along the Arno to visit the Ponte Vecchio (the old bridge), Uffizi gallery, Piazza della Signoria and on to the Duomo and Giotto's Tower. Alternatively cross over the ponte vecchio to visit the Pitti Palace and Boboli Gardens in the Oltrano district.
Other Activities: Within easy walking distance of all the major tourist attractions. If you are arriving by car there is a secure private car park in the same street.
