We are English and have our own plumbing business. We have 2 young children and visit Portugal and our lovely Apartment as much as we can, when school and work allows. If you are looking for a stress free low paced total chill holiday, you will find it here! Pool or beach? You decide! We love to play in the pool and visit the beaches. The sea is fun and safe with some days calm and others fun for body boarding. We love to eat out, but with budget in mind we alternate and eat in or get a local takeaway and watch a film.

We chose this location as it has 3km of the most beautiful white sandy beaches and is not commercialised so offers peace and tranquility. The slow relaxed pace of life is ideal to lose yourself from everyday troubles.There is a large shopping complex in Tavira for food,fashion and furniture aswell as everything else you may possibly need. Cabanas,has restaurants in abundance which serve you fish,tapas,steaks or pizzas,You choose!!The bars are never full and greet you with open arms,there is also a sports bar on Cabanas front.

The reason behind my review is as follows.
Whist at the airport waiting to get our flight I received an email from the owner stating that she had literally just been informed that there had been maintenance work done on the pool which had been completed and the pool was going to be filled.
We were at her apartment for 10 days the pool was being worked on the whole time we were there which consisted of very loud drilling etc the noise was horrendous and most certainly did not lend itself to a peaceful relaxing holiday.you could not sit on the balcony or roof terrace due to the level of noise,
We were told we could get a key from the management company to access another pool we were then informed as we were not really allowed to use this pool as we were not residing in that complex if asked we were to say two of the party we’re staying there.
I did continually express my concern and dissatisfaction to the owner via email during our stay one of her suggestions was to use the beach which was a 20 minute walk and a short boat ride away we did do this once but unfortunately due to the time of year the one and only restaurants was closed and there were no beds on the beach.
What should have been a lovely relaxing holiday turned out quite the opposite.
The couple managing the property were really pleasant and helpful unfortunately I cannot say the same about the owner.
The work on the pool should have been completed and filled in March. This work was delayed and started in April. We were not aware that the work hadn’t been completed until our guests who left the day before your arrival mentioned it in an email when thanking us for a lovely holiday - they also implied it looked liked it was nearly completed and should be filled soon.I sent you an email relaying this - as soon as I had heard the news, because I didn’t want you to arrive and find the pool empty without being forewarned.
I contacted our property managers immediately and any help and or assistance they gave you was under our instruction. This did include giving you the keys to a neighbouring pool, offering you the mattresses off our beds to take with you and suggesting you visit the lovely lagoon.
I stayed in touch with you during your holiday and did what I could through our apartment managers.
Unfortunately, maintenance does have to be carried out from time to time for the safety of everyone using these facilities. The work Is carried out away from the main season to minimise disruption. We are also reliant on the workmen instructed by our condominium. The work should have been started and completed in March and therefore we had no reason to think the work would be still going on in May.
The previous guests who had the same situation had a wonderful holiday and are returning later in the year.
I was upset you were disapponted by your holiday as this is the first time anyone has given negative feedback.
I tried my best to help you to make the best of the situation and cannot understand why you would imply that I have been unpleasant in the way that I have tried to deal with your situation.
Had a wonderful time in Cabanas.
Accomodation very spacious and clean, fully equipped and plenty of outside space on the roof terrace and balcony. Gorgeous restaurants with plenty of variety. The beach and sea are beautiful. Love the boat ride across to the lagoon. Will definitely be back.
Fab spacious apartment
This is a lovely apartment. With two young children in tow we were thrilled to discover how spacious it was. Great value for money. All the rooms are big and light, and there is a big roof terrace from which to watch the swallows swooping and the sun setting. We stayed in February and despite some wonderful sunny weather we were grateful for the heating in all the rooms in the evening when it cooled down. We didn't hire a car and managed perfectly well as the beautiful little train station, covered in patterned Portuguese tiles, is literally on minute's stroll away. You can get to Tavira in under ten mins and it runs regularly. Out of season we couldn't find anyone to take us across the water to cabanas beach, but Cabanas itself was a gorgeous place to sit and watch the water with a drink. And instead we hopped on her bus to Pedras del Rei and the wonderful wonderful Barril beach, reached by a little vintage train. All in all a great holiday, a wonderful escape to a slice of real Portugal, and we thoroughly recommend this Apartment. Thanks Sarah.
Great experience from the outset. The owner was a pleasure to deal with. We arrived late to find the property manager waiting for us. Very helpful and informative.
The property itself was spacious, bright and clean. It contained everything we needed. Plenty of outside space and the roof terrace was fantastic. Having two bathrooms was also a big plus. The pool area is good and due to the time we were there, we had the pool to ourselves.
Cabanas was lovely as was Tavira. There is a train station within a minute or two from the apartment and this takes you to Tavira in about 8 minutes for less than 3 euro return. Cabanas is only a ten minute walk.
This is the first time for us in the Eastern Algarve. Great beaches throughout the region and also in Spain, which is only 20-30 minutes away by car. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and the quality of this apartment added to our enjoyment immensely.
Stopped in the apartment May half term. It's in a great location near to a few bars and restaurants, with the main area of Cabanas about a 15 min walk. Beautiful accommodation with everything you could need, helpful owners and managers. Highly recommended. Also the train station is 2mins away, therefore very easy to get out and about.
Perfect for summer or spring
This lovely well equipped spacious apartment is so good that this was our fourth holiday here.Twice in the Summer relaxing by the lovely pool or visiting the near by beach with our family.In the evening after eating in or out relaxing on the roof top terrace with a glass of red wine in hand.-Wonderful.
During our Febuary holidays the weather is cool enough for us to explore the area in and around Cabanas either on foot,car,or by the train that stops at Cabanas.
The apartment and Cabanas never disappoints what more could you want.
Coast/Beach: To reach the beach, a 10 minute walk to the waterfront, then a 2 min. river taxi (60cents) to the beautiful island beach, which has EC Blue Flag status with excellent swimming. Over 3 km of unspoilt coastline with showers, WCs and a small cafe on the beach. Further along the coast there is Ilha de Tavira. A short boat trip across to the island, where there are numerous restaurants, a cash point and camping facilities, even a late night taxi service for those who like to to party and BBQ til late Travel: Faro airport is a 30 minute drive, with easy to follow directions available. A pick up service is available on request (45 euros). There are regular bus and train services within walking distance of the apartment. Car hire is recommended if you wish to explore the Algarve coast and countryside but not essential (~60 euros/wk). Locally taxi's are available at a very low cost. In season a local train will take you to and from the village and beach crossing. Distances: Airport 30 mins drive. Spanish border 20 mins drive to the East. The town of Tavira is 10 mins drive away and also accessible for cost of 1 euro on local train (station 4 mins walk). Taxi 7 euro's. Tavira is well worth a visit, as is the beach at Ilha de Tavira. Within a short drive of the apartment you will find many small villages with access to beautiful peaceful beaches (Praia d Barril, Fuseta, Mantarota, Verde and Monte Gordo, all worth a visit). Also lots of fabulous local restaurants. Further Details: Cabanas is an unspoilt village of narrow streets, a number of cafes, bars and restaurants, always with a welcoming atmosphere. There is a daily fish meat and vegetable market, several local mini markets, hardware stores, a chemist, local butchers and a post office. The nature reserve provides pleasant areas for those who like to walk and enjoy nature at its most peaceful. Bike hire, wind and kite surfing (hire and tuition) can be found in the village. Excursions are available with local departures to the water parks and zoo marine Leisure Park. The nearest town of Tavira is steeped in history and boasts 37 churches. The town is split by the River Gilao and an historical Roman Bridge connects both side.
