Guestbook comments from the owner

My wife and I spent a great week at Woodgate Lodge with our son, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren.

The location was perfect for us, with splendid views over the countryside to Poole Harbour, a beautiful beach within easy walking distance and a well stocked village store close by.

The house itself is obviously a much-loved family home and was just what we need. Set in a pretty garden, it is spacious, well equipped and very comfortably furnished. The two good-sized living areas gave us plenty of room to spread out so that everyone could find that peace and quiet we all need occasionally!

We had everything we could possibly want on holiday-lots of books, maps, CDs, games etc. Even a piano!

We enjoyed our lunch at the local restaurant - The Pig where the food was imaginative, with home-grown produce from their own kitchen garden and plenty of space in the grounds for relaxation and play.

Down on the beach we ate at the little cafe which offers a good menu.

We haven hesitation in recommending Woodgate Lodge to anyone looking for excellent accommodation with both sea and superb National Trust countryside on the doorstep!

Fabulous location close to Heath and Beach

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for a long weekend to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary with friends. We loved the location for great walks from the doorstep onto the Heath and down to the beach. We enjoyed a meal at the Pig Hotel but even better was the Shell Bay overlooking the sea. The house was lovely with everything you need, and fabulous views from the bedroom and lounge. Can't wait to go back. C&J

This was our second stay at this lovely house and we enjoyed it even more than the first time! The house is very comfortable and clean, with plenty of room for everyone. The kitchen is especially well equipped. The garden is beautiful and the view is spectacular...what more could you want from a weekend in Dorset?

A fantastic place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

My family and friends have stayed here 3 years in a row now.

It's such a lovely yet homely house, perfectly equipped and set in a wonderful location, and the surrounding beaches are stunning. There is plenty to do in the local area too and we have had the most wonderful holidays every time

Great holiday home

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at Woodgate Lodge. Beautiful, tranquil setting with wonderful views to the sea, delightful garden to relax in. The house is comfortable and nicely furnished. Loads to do in the area; three different beaches to chose from within walking distance, plus countless coastal walks. Monkey World is not far, as is RSPB nature reserve at Arne, both well worth a visit. In a nutshell - Woodgate Lodge is the perfect base for a wonderful family holiday that includes the dog!

Marvellous location, layout and facilities

  • 5 of 5

We booked Woodgate Lodge for a family holiday and all ages (from 1 upwards!) were delighted with the fantastic house in a glorious location. All equipment we could have wished for was provided, the rooms are all beautifully furnished and the garden was ideal. We especially enjoyed the walks in all directions from the door, the very convenient nearby playground and abundant wildlife. Also great to be within walking distance of the beaches (and village shop).
