A 2 bedroom apartment sleeping 4-6. Part of one of the oldest buildings in the Chamonix valley (well into it's 4th century) the flat is cosy and in traditional Savoyard style. It stands in a spacious garden near the Grands Montets lifts and 100m from the ski bus stop.

We benefit from more sunshine than almost any other location in the valley receiving many hours on sun light even in mid-winter. All in all we offer a relaxing and comfortable spot for a winter break, facilities for all the family. Safe grounds for the kids to play in, welcoming local bar, private parking and all the world renowned facilities of the Chamonix valley.

We live in the Chamonix valley year round, and will be your neighbours downstairs if you come to stay.

As real enthusiasts for mountain sports with and deep knowledge of what happens here and in the surrounding valleys we will be there to make your holiday as much fun as humanly possible. Just ask.

Why Ian Proudfoot and Sara Pendlebury chose Argentière

Both ski instructors, we were drawn to the area through our love of skiing, but like many people in the Chamonix valley, discovered that the summer had as much if not more to offer.

The house was built in the 1600s and was one of the first Farmhouses in Argentiere. Old pictures show it before the development of the village today. it is a place we fell in love with.

It is situated in the hamlet of L’Ioutre in the South of Argentiere Village, 5 minutes walk from the Grand Montets lift station and the Chosalets nursery slopes. In a valley surrounded by high mountains we found a spot that gets sunshine every day of the year.

What makes this apartment unique

The farmhouse is close to the Grands Montets lifts, and a regular bus stop that serves the whole Chamonix valley from Le Tour to Les Houches.

The apartment is quiet and set back from the road, and set in an extensive garden that you may use, summer and snow permitting, winter. Or you can use its very long balcony. This gets the sun even in the winter months, and has spectacular views to the Mont Blanc Massif.

Notes on accommodation: This is a cosy yet spacious apartment, and can be linked to the other unit to provide accommodation for larger groups. Outside: A garden on flat ground is available for all range of apres ski games, sledging, snowman building, igloo building and snow ball battles. There us also a private spot to sit out in the summer.

Great location and great vacation

We had a wonderful 4 nights in Chamonix and found Ian and Sara were perfect hosts. Both were extremely helpful answering questions and providing recommendations before our arrival and check-in was a breeze. The proximity to Grands Montets couldn't be beat. The apartment we had was a bit rustic but was very easy to feel comfortable and was perfect as a base for our 3 days of skiing. Entry room was just the thing for keeping our skis and boots. Kitchen is small but functional. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here on our next (hopefully longer!) trip to Chamonix.

Perfect Locale!

We rented from Ian and Sara for one week. We were two adults with our pup and 15 month old. Ian and Sara are very friendly, full of area knowledge, and accommodating. They purchased a baby chair for our use and lent us hiking maps and a baby cot. The location of the apartment is very convenient. It is less than a 10 minute drive into the town of Chamonix. We walked into the village of Argentiere several times which took about 10 minutes as this apartment is on the outskirts. The apartment is located in the back of the house. The other rental apartment is accessed from the front, and the family lives on the ground floor. There is a garden which wraps around the home, and our dog and little one appreciated having some space for play. The apartment is quite basic but adequate. We were looking for a place where we could feel comfortable having our dog stay with us. It works as a place if you plan on being outside doing activities most of the time (which is what you're visiting for, right?). The kitchen is appropriate for basic meal preparation. There's really only room for one person to work on dinner. The rental felt like a relatively safe apartment for our wandering baby as well. Our baby especially loved watching the train go by the home regularly. The sound is no issue at all. We loved having quick access to hiking trails straight from the house. You can walk down by the river or head to the forest. The Petite Balcon Sud trail was quite nice for some late afternoon walks with the pup. It's also a short walk to the Gran Montets lift and hiking near there. Though this is an older apartment in an old farmhouse, I felt like the cleaning before our arrival could have been at a better standard. Overall, this apartment worked for our needs and we appreciated the hospitality of the owners.

*** Restaurant Le Grenier in Argentiere was delicious for a couple of omelettes! The owner's wife (the chef) opened up her kitchen early to accommodate us! We were very relieved!

Sara could not have been a more welcoming, attentive and helpful host. Sara helped to take my parents skiing, which was above and beyond the call of duty. My father is recovering post stroke and her reassurance and knowledge of disabled skiing difficulties was amazing.

The flat was light, beautiful, well equipped and well thought out. The storage was excellent, the lovely shower supplied endless hot water and there is nothing I would want to change. The proximity to the grands montets ski school, lifts and also the bus stop was extremely convenient. We hope to come back !!

Cosy and homely charm

We had a very enjoyable week staying here over the February half term. The flat is quietly positioned at the bottom of the town, but a short walk away from all the necessary amenities and the main lift at Grand Montet, although we would recommend taking transport to the latter. There is offroad parking and help with getting the car out after snowfall. The flat was clean, warm, cosy and very homely - not luxurious but an absolutely perfect place for our family of 4 to relax after days spent out on the slopes. The flat is at the back of the chalet reached by an external staircase and is very self contained. The view from the front of the chalet (towards Mont Blanc) is breathtaking and whilst the rear flat doesn't share this view it was always a joy to step outside to the most incredible view each morning.

The owners, Ian and Sara, are very relaxed and extremely welcoming and were readily available for advice and information. They have a wealth of knowledge about the local area and were incredibly helpful with arranging skiing lessons, ski passes and ski rental. They also were helpful with recommendations for local eateries, transport and conditions at different ski places. We really valued their help and advice which was particularly welcome as we were complete novices to skiing. We had heard that Argentiere was not a great place for beginners but we found it otherwise - enough green and blue runs for us older beginners and a fantastic selection of harder skiing for our teenagers who quickly left us behind. For a relaxing, homely place to stay with a great variety of skiing within easy reach either by your own transport or local buses, we would highly recommend a stay here. We are now thinking about it as a base for a summer stay in the Alps.
